Hi I am remodelling our kitchen and have a cooker going into the chimney breast. I need some advice on what concealed extractor fan can work with this set up. Eg can you just vent up the chimney etc The chimney is on an internal wall with no way to vent external before the top of the stack. Grateful for any experts out there. Thanks

Hya, Just had a quote for ?1700 for cafe style white wooden shutters for our bay window in the lounge. Make in the UK (which I like idea of). Seems pretty steep but we do need to get it sorted soon (we have nothing at window & they can fit end Feb). So any advice from fellow shutter-ers who can say, 'no go here for half the price' warmly welcomed!!!! Thank you! (Dims are 110cm (h) x 106cm (w) in the middle, and 2 sides are 110cmx70cm

We just had a kitchen extension done by Marvin & Nic from Sky High builders and we couldn't be happier. It was a 5 month job, with us living in the house throughout with a new baby and toddler, half the back of the house was ripped off though the winter, we expected it to be a nightmare, but they were so brilliant, they made it hardly stressful at all. And the end result - with bifold doors and sky lights etc - looks stunning. You can get 10 quotes, but they all end up being about the same in the end, so best to spend your money with a good bloke you can trust. If you need your garden doing, use Nic from Mint Gardens. He did our patio, fence and lawn beautifully, and he trimmed down the tree and sorted a bit of wall for free! Very, very professional, friendly, refreshingly straight about costs (and he was one of the cheapest!) Can't sing his praises highly enough. We're on our second house renovation in the area so have used lots of tradesmen (and have been unhappy with a fair few) so it's nice to recommend such a nice chap. Nic - 07478 683004

Hi, do you have solid/engineered wood or Karndean on the floor in your kitchen? If so I would appreciate your advice... We've been given lots of conflicting advice on whether warping, scratching and general maintenance is a problem with wood in a kitchen... We love the look of tiles but they're a bit cold and hard with little ones, and it's a big family room with sofa etc so prob not ideal... Considering karndean too (wood) so if you have that please let me know if you'd recommend it. Thanks in advance!

Would highly recommend John of J A Powers if you need a plumber or gas man. He's just fitted our new boiler and he and his team are more professional, reliable, efficient and nice(!) than any other tradesman we've dealt with. We've used him for 5 years for gas safety certs, boiler probs, leaky loos etc and always been happy.
