The Castle - Jenny the manager forced out

The loss of Jenny has already impacted on the 'locals'. Jenny's enthusiasm, quest to please attitude, was abundantly clear. Bar staff knew their trade, enjoyed the work and the customers. I have witnessed her family grow up and the pub evolve during her stewardship. The Castle, now managed, with indifferent staff, together with the 'scallywags', barred from Jenny's era, back in, bodes a very worrying future. Regrettably Jenny's contribution to the Castle vibe was paramount, but not given enough recognition. I, and many others, miss her, and feel guilty for using the Castle, but it's still our local. -
The photo brings back many fond memories! With the changing rooms spanning the length of both sides. It was freezing but who cares when your ten years old! I'm sure it will be extremely popular and enjoyed by all ages. Let the ED renaissance continue!

Best East Dulwich Pub for Watching Football is......
dulwichita lineman replied to clicka's topic in Request a Tradesperson
It's a no brainer! The Castle Crystal Palace Road by a country mile! -
At last a decent Italian restaurant has arrived in the Lane! Olivellis is not just pizza/pasta on a plate but fine dining at reasonable rates. Great portions(it was opening night!.)Cheap 2 course menu until 7 ideal for pre-cinema treat!

The Castle all day/night long. Last traditional 'spit & sawdust' pub! Not gastro but do great sandwiches! A rare sight is a pool table & dart board! Great barmaids, Paige Vindaloo, Debs Madras & Jenny Korma, always service with a smile! Happy hour 11 - 5 Mon - Fri! Who needs Wetherspoons! Poker Monday; pool Tues; Darts Weds. My local is too local!

New Cinema for Lordship lane?
dulwichita lineman replied to Eoghan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Wetherspoon pub (ex Cinema) the Capital in Forest Hill is closing in 6-8 weeks and changing back to a cinema. Too much competition? Too many cinema's? -
Castle last Sunday night - stumbled across unintentional rolly polly party. Place was rocking - literally! Hope it continues. Boys bring your harpoons!!!!
