  3. Dear all, Many thanks for the continuing interest in The Patch. As there has been much speculation and comment I thought I would provide an update. LEASE We haven?t as yet signed the lease for the pub currently known as the Mag, but are very close to doing so. We are in negotiations with Enterprise Inns about some of the detail to ensure it meets our needs, so this is sensitive, and an ongoing process. What we can say is they are very keen to support our concept vs. some of the other offers from larger chains and multiple operators. COMMUNITY ASPECT & SELF-SUSTAINABILITY Our vision is to make The Patch a community asset. Myself and the other two colleagues involved in this project live locally. I have lived in the area for 17 years. All the funding to date comes from ourselves who want to see this new concept in pubs work on our doorstep. As residents we want to involve the local community and had hoped to crowd fund some of the project, hence the Kickstarter initiative. Although we didn?t reach our target we are confident that, by the amount of interest it generated, that local people do want to get involved and will honour these pledges. We will now be looking at other ways to get, you, the local community involved. In terms of self sustainability our vision is to grow as much fruit and veg as possible on site using the latest sustainable vertical farming technology. Our aim is to produce 50% of this. The rest of the fruit and veg will buy from immediate local growers, ie the local community, many of whom we have already approached. We will widen this out to a 25 mile radius of farms and smallholdings when we need to. We will also source all other food from local artisan producers and all our meat and fish as close as possible endeavouring to do this within a 25 mile radius. Informing our customers of its local provenance is key as we are launching The Patch because we have a very strong personal belief in taking control of our food supply, as well as tapping into the talent and energy of our local community. We love the idea of running the best pub possible and cannot think of a better place to prove this concept than right here in East Dulwich. If you have further questions, please contact us through our FB page (www.facebook.com/dulwichpatch). We welcome any suggestions and feedback through this page but won?t be posting further on the ED forum until we have a launch date. Many thanks for your continued support. The Patch
  4. I am giving East Dulwich residents a heads up before the official announcement tomorrow.... The Patch has two fabulous new additions to the team!! We always wanted our food to be special, prepared by people who share our ethos of sourcing locally and working with the community. What we have, exceeds all our expectations!!! Zoe Wager and Keri Moss (joint winner of 2012 Professional Masterchef, who both live locally) have joined the team to run our kitchen!! That's right, considered some of the most innovative and sought-after culinary talent in the country, these two fabulously talented chefs will contribute to making The Patch truly unique... So, if you want to help in establishing a fabulous (yet affordable)destination gastropub right here in ED,you all know what you need to do... 5. Yes, Zoe and Keri will be very busy indeed! They also manage a fabulous new catering company called crumbslondon. The Patch will be a fabulous base for them both, as they live locally. The PAtch

  7. Hello all, Yes, I have lived here for more than 15 years. Sourcing meat as locally as possible is basic common sense. From an environmental point of view, we feel it is better to buy, lets say chicken from an organic farm in Kent 15 miles away, then it is to buy from a farm in, let's say, Leicestershire.. lower carbon footprint, easier to visit the farm to ensure good treatment and quality. However, the overriding aim is still to provide the highest quality product as possible, so we will obviously be flexible. Cheers, Nonold
  8. Big thanks to Dave @ William Rose for all his amazing support... on so many levels!!! A special mention of his development of a local meat supply chain, which will help us stay true to our community ethos!!

  12. hi there, of course I have a biz plan, and yes, I am aware of the cost implications re staffing, rates, etc....The flat is not meant to provide rental income, but is really geared for staff accomodation. If you have a proper interest, I am more than happy to show you the plan!
  13. well, actually the rent is comparable to most pubs this size. Most products have a release fee anyway, i.e, you pay x amount and can buy your own wine from whoever you want... The only exception being, of course, draft beer...
  14. The decision on who will take over the Mag is being taken later this week. There are 3 candidates, 2 chains and myself, an ED resident!! Any local person (s) interested in getting involved?
