  1. Just wanted to give a shout out to Roberts & Denny's, who helped me out at very short notice yesterday when I was let down by a sofa delivery company. They arrived within the hour and soon got the sofa in through an awkward passageway. They were professional, friendly, efficient, careful of my home, had a can-do attitude and charged very reasonably. Highly recommend.
  2. Another recommendation for Gerry - quick response, honest advice and quickly solved the problem. Very grateful for his help.
  3. Thank you both for your suggestions, I will have a look at both of these.
  4. Hello I wondered if anyone might have any recommendations please for local dance classes for adults? I'm just looking for something fun and social, and very much at a beginner's level. I used to do the Swing Patrol classes a few years ago, but I think that these days I might need something a little easier on the knees! Any ideas much appreciated.
  5. I just wanted to say what lovely food we had there this evening. I already knew they did great coffee and cannoli but had not appreciated that they did great food in the evening too. Great Italian food and wine at very reasonable prices with lovely friendly service. As a previous poster mentioned it looks quite unassuming but the food was really delicious. Will definitely be going again.
  6. I'm also completely opposed to this change. There needs to be a direct bus service from ED to London Bridge. Also it seems perverse that they propose that the new route would go along Blackfriars, when elsewhere in the consultation they argue that there are already too many routes along Blackfriars.
  7. This would be great 2 Girls Cafe. I'd be ok with no packaging - i.e. bringing my own containers.
  8. I saw a lovely vet there last week after my cat suffered a ruptured abscess, I was very happy with the care given.
  9. Yes I'd love to have a place like this closer than Hetu. As others have said I'd use it for loose foods and for refills of toiletries and laundry / household cleaners. There are also some other things like deodorant (in cardboard) and makeup without plastic that it would be great to be able to get locally.
  10. Thanks - seems to be ok here now too - fingers crossed ...
  11. Is anyone else having problems with Virgin broadband today (Dunstan's Road / Goodrich Road area)? 😕
  12. Hello all. Sorry I realised I was still inadvertently unsubscribed from this thread so hadn't registered the date or book! So I'm sorry to R for being the lone reader this week :( I wondered whether people would be interested in rescheduling a date for Wilt, before going to the next list? hope to see you all soon anyway, E.
  13. Hello, great list. I will be on holiday for this one though, so I will abstain ... Have a lovely time. E
  14. Just on my way home from work now, think I am going to come by for some dinner,, but sadly haven't read the book ... Unless you count 20 years ago. Pretty sure I won't be able to blag it ...
  15. Another recommendation for the framer up near the Plough if you have not tried them already. I have found them very helpful and prices reasonable.
  16. Hi Claire You would be very welcome - newcomers can just come along on the evening. Our next meeting is Tuesday 15 December, 7.45 for 8.00pm at the house of tippler. We are usually sitting on the sofas near the front. The book is Monsignor Quixote by Graham Greene, which is actually super short so you might have time to read it before then, if you wanted to, but equally you'd be very welcome to just come along and say hello.
  17. Can I just check, are we next meeting Tuesday 15 December? (M Quixote)? E
  18. Another recommendation for Carl Ferri. He and his colleague Paul have just finished decorating two rooms for me (ceilings, walls plus lots of woodwork - window frames, doors, fireplace surround, shelves etc). Carl has been great to work with, very reliable, punctual, efficient, tidy, really helpful with advice on materials and the standard of workmanship has been excellent throughout. Also prompt and clear communication, very personable and patient with my decision making! I have no hesitation in recommending him to others, and thank you to others on the forum who recommended him.
  19. Another recommendation for Bespoke windows. As described above, really excellent workmanship. They were not the cheapest, but I am so pleased with the result (casement windows). Thanks to others for recommending.
  20. I just wanted to add another recommendation for RPS Fireplaces in Sydenham. They recently installed a new fireplace for me in an existing opening. Very efficient, did a neat job and at a reasonable price.
  21. I just wanted to add another recommendation for Graham Norris, as above. He recently installed a new loft hatch and loft ladder for me, as well as putting in roof insulation and boarding the loft floor. He was very efficient and I was impressed with the standard of his work. Also very helpful with advice about the installation. Www.usealoft.com
