I have now used John McCann three times to plaster ceilings. He always does an excellent job. I can thoroughly recommend him. His mobile is 07905 044912.

Southwark recycling centre (tip) - Devon street
Friernlocal replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes. Went two days ago. No booking needed. -
It killed my brand new Dell PC! The computer came with an advert saying it would upgrade to Windows 11 when released. I did the upgrade immediately it came out. It worked for a day. The next day it wouldn't boot, can't remember the error message, but it wouldn't load Windows. Phoned Dell tech service. Waste of time. After about 45 minutes the advisor said the main board was faulty and they would arrange a collection for repair. Luckily I'd created the recovery drive when I first started the PC when I bought it. This allowed me to uninstall the Windows 11 updated. PC worked again. Perhaps I'll try again just before the 12 months warranty expires.

Thanks for this helpful post. Lewisham publish a comprehensive pdf recycling guide on their website. The advice might not be the same as Southwark's policies, so it would be helpful if Southwark could publish something similar. Yes, this is the BBC article.

This a known bug with the app. It was highlighted a few day's ago in a BBC article. The article explained that this can be triggered by the system if you have been close to someone but your contact doesn't meet the criteria for isolation, i.e. within two metres for 15 minutes. If it were a genuine alert an automatic 14 day isolation countdown would be shown in red on the home screen of the app.

Try phoning them. The Dulwich Dental Clinic next to the Post Office is taking appointments. -
Overcrowding at Memsaab Lordship Lane
Friernlocal replied to Friernlocal's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The restaurant has been sent an email about lack of social distancing and Southwark Trading Standards have been informed. -
Booked a table yesterday for 6:30 in evening. Asked beforehand if they were taking Covid-19 precautions. Was told they were following guidelines and keeping adequate distance between tables. This was not true! It was busy when we arrived and very quickly it became totally packed. There were just as many tables as before Covid-19 restrictions. It was TOO crowded. They weren't taking diners details for contact tracing. I don't advise going there during the 'eat out to help out' period.

Did you not read the previous post. It was working again. Very quick to criticise without knowing all the facts. If you ever have need to visit the new health centre you will see it is very well designed and laid out. While I can't comment on the GP surgery that operates in part of the building the rest appears well managed. -

Beckenham Hall Place closed soon after it opened as the pool isn't supervised and so a risk. I was there last week and it's still fenced of.

Southwark News: ED 91-year-old lady left with no care
Friernlocal replied to Monkey's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This highlights the current situation with adult social care, made worse by the Covid-19 pandemic. To balance this article I have to say that my mother receives excellent care from the hard working and dedicated staff in Lew Evens House. -

JP Plastering - John McCann - Recommended Plasterer

John plastered a ceiling for me yesterday. Very pleased with result and would recommend him. Number 07905 044912 -
Can I suggest as someone who walks over the crossing every day that it does need some improvement. Every day cars jump the red lights when turning right from Townley Road into East Dulwich Grove, some even speed up to get round! What is needed are traffic enforcement cameras to catch the offenders. After a few get fined word would get around.
