  1. A family member lets their dog do this to my son and it drives me insane. I am not allowed to tell the dog off because it would hurt his feelings or some such sh*t, but I always go and wash Baby S' face and remove him from licking distance.I'm not surprised you're upset, I would be (and am!) too. I'm all for children being around animals, etc etc etc, but there is a limit. Same dog reguarly jumps over Baby S and often just misses him/hits him on the back with his hind paws/tail. ARGH.
  2. That Olbas oil in the bathroom to create a 'steam room' effect is a LIFESAVER! Thankyou! Baby S has a runny snout at the moment but that sorted him out nicely. My Mum did the same for me with lavender oil to relax me before bedtime, which also apparantly works a treat too!
  3. Not me, but my niece's favourite is one of those toy kitchens. She also has a toy 'workbench' for gender equality purposes ;)
  4. There are often a fair few Dad's at Bumps 'N' Babes at Goose Green on a monday (10-12, goose green centre- in the church).
  5. Hi folks, I'm going through a bit of a stressful time at the moment, but to my chagrin I can't take Kalms like I normally do as I am BF. I was up for about 5 hours last night because I was anxious and couldn't sleep, not doing that again. Is there anything over the counter which would be suitable? Is rescue remedy any good?
  6. Oh no :( I work on Wednesdays but can try to do a swap every now and then, so do keep me updated with locations/times. Muito obrigada!
  7. Very true, Yorkie. There is never a question re: babies with a 'yes' or 'no' answer. We never bothered with growbags- put Baby S in one and he kicked his little legs and screamed. He got his point across and we didn't bother. Wish he would sleep in one, though, because he's worked out how to take his PJ bottoms off and undo his nappy. Nice!
  8. H+M kids- organic cotton and they're only ?1.99-?3.99
  9. Baby S is only 9 months but he goes mental on the bus at times, too. Baby apps on the iphone have saved my life, as have rice-cakes and baby biscotti (oh, allright, I know it's all packed with sugar...)
  10. Re: dropping the 10.30 feed. I am using Poppy's suggestion and gradually watering down the bottle feed until it's just water. From then on, he might still wake, but I'll be sending DH in for a bit of the ol' shush patting until Baby S realises there is no point waking up for food/water at 10pm because he won't get owt! If you want to drop the feed totally, it might work the same way our nightweaning did. I was cut totally out of the picture and lovely saintlike DH 'dealt' with it. He roomed in with Baby S, and when he predictably woke at 12, 3.15 and 5 for boob, the aforementioned shush patting happenned. It took one night, we were really lucky, for Baby S to cotton on. So, me being taken totally away from Baby helped a LOT. Perhaps this could work for dropping the feed, if you have a very pro-active other half who can take over with that bit?
  11. I know, it's lovely! I look at her blog to see what tiny babies look like. Made me even more broody, oops.
  12. Ah good idea on both counts! I'll get nick to elevate the matress because I will defnitely break something. the diluted formula hadn't even occured to me, d'oh! It's been a long hard slog but finally were seeing some progress with s' sleep! Nigtweani g him was the best thing I ever did, he didn't make a fuss at all which made it a lot easier really! Will we be seei g you at b+b today?
  13. My friend Alice has a nice one, but her baby is only 9 weeks or so www.thealice.co.uk
  14. 1) I weaned Baby Baldock from night-time breastfeeds about a month ago, to stop him waking 5+ times a night. It worked, hurrah! He sleeps from his last feed, which is a bottle at 10pm until 6am normally. However, when can we stop giving him the 10pm feed? He's 9 months old, on three meals a day plus snacks and water and bfs about 4 times a day. 2) Baby Baldock likes pillows. His favourite is one on my bed, which is really thin (shoddy Asda value pillows). He seems to sleep longer when he's on his side with his head slightly elevated. I'm guessing he's too young for a pillow in his cot though? He can sit unaided, stand, cruise, crawl, stand unassisted and has taken a few steps before, so he is mobile enough not to suffocate, but is it still a no-no?
  15. I remember very vividly asking my mum why I didn't have a dad when I was 3 1/2. He had died 18 months previously, and she told me very matter of factly what had hapenned. I wasn't scared or upset and I still totally respect her bein totally honest. She's very religious but didn't mention heaven at all. My own son is named after my father so I expect this may come up sooner than we thought- not yet though, he's only 9 months old!
  16. Aha, you know me ;) I went back three weeks ago and the first day was bizarre. I did the same as crystal7 setting everything up the night before. My husband picks baby s up and he was an hour late picking him up, I nearly had a fit! That has been the only time anything like that has hapenned and the mad rush for me has been getting baby s to my MILs and then getting myself to work. Good luck!
  17. We've got a mothecare smart trike plus for our 9 month old- really good and can be adapted to suit them until they're two or three.
  18. I always thought 2-3 years was perfect. I'm 8 years older than my sister, and we're not close. She's 2 years older than our littlest brother, and they're thick as thieves. Me and Husband are TTC at the moment, with the aim of the age gap between Baby Baldock and Baby Baldock 2 being 18months-24 months.
  19. Maybe me and husband are a hippies, but we thought it was a great idea! All things considered, the little boys seemed very calm and not really that badly behaved, but obviously we only got to see bits of their year journey crammed into an hour. When I was 26 months old, me and mum drove to isreal- all across Europe and then ferries with the car when we needed to. It took about 4 months I think.
  20. And where were you, Mrs Ryedalema on Friday?!
  21. Congratulations, Helen! I've only got one, but my mums went as thus: 1st, moi, 15 days late 2nd- due date 3rd-due date 4th- 38+4 5th-18 (count 'em) days late
  22. Have been thinking about this all day, and actually, I have very vivid memories of beg'up for it' about 10 days after my baby was born. But I didn't. A health visitor told me it was due to hormonal changes (that old chestnut...) and advised me to use precautions. within a week I was staring at my husband sleepig soundly whilst I attempted to soothe a hyterical baby at 4am, whilst thinking 'i hate yoooooou!' ( husband, not child)
  23. The thought of touching my husband in any sexual way was LAUGHABLE for me until my son was about 5 months old. I do know someone who was at it less than a week after her c-section though. hmm...
  24. http://www.buggypitstop.co.uk/Spare-Parts.html These blokes used to do them, up until VERY recently- might be worth sending them an e-mail?
  25. Lovely to meet all of you and see those of you who I already knew! I was lucky enough to come home to a sleeping baby, who had been given his last feed and changed. Lovely! Sorry to hear about your evening, Belle :( Those of you with sickly babes, hope they're feeling a bit better today.
