  1. Saturday morning bump to the top. This is a beautiful piece of furniture, and a good price too!
  2. Beautiful Louis XV style single wardrobe. Solid walnut, with carved details. These traditionally had shelves inside (and the slots are still there if you wanted to retrofit some): this one now has a hanging rail fitted. The bevel edged mirror is in fantastic condition. 230cm high x103cm wide £600: Priced for a quick sale (we need to make space before some building works) Available to inspect / collect from Goose Green. DM me on the forum, or call 07946 640410
  3. Can anyone recommend a curtain repair service? We need the linings replacing on our heavy bedroom curtains. Prefer a supplier local to ED or, even better, someone who does this in situ. Thanks
  4. Can anyone recommend a tradesperson to replace / repair one of the valves on our Smeg gas hob? Thanks and Happy New Year to you all.
  5. Try Wojtek on 07825 459608. He specialises in soft and hardwood floors, and did a fantastic job sanding, filling and waxing ours this summer.
  6. Bump as we were again let down by the last guy who quoted. The challenge we are facing is that all the joiners who do these installs only want to work to their own template and design. We have had 3 recommended joiners come round, give us a quote, commit to a date... only to later to decide they are too busy. The last cheap actually said "We joiners have the luxury of being too busy these days, so we can just take on easy jobs. Any job other than my own standard design means the job is complicated, and I don't need to take on complicated jobs"! It's 3 shelves and a cupboard: has anyone found a joiner who is willing to build to their own design?
  7. Looking for someone to service and repair some of my midi components. Mostly it's just opening them up and cleaning decades of dust out! There used to be the shop in the basement under the Dulwich Cafe on LL, and I know that sadly went a while ago. So what local options are there for us now?
  8. Echo-ing the recommendation for Niko. Niko replaced a radiator and fixed a stopcock for us this week. He was polite, clean and tidy, and has a sense of humour too. Here's his number, as it is missing from this particular thread: 07818 607583
  9. Thanks very much for the responses: now sorted
  10. As per the thread title: anyone know a good "man and van" service locally? I did try a forum search, but the search function doesn't accept words of 3 letters or less.. like "man" and "van". Haha!
  11. We are looking to have someone come build and fit a cupboard and shelves. Has anyone had good recent experiences, and able to share a recommendation? We did already try Elliot who has some good recommendations on here already. But in our case at least, and I'm only sharing this for balanced feedback - he turned out to be a time waster.
  12. Is anyone still waiting for Southwark Environmental services to collect their Christmas tree? I followed the new process at start of January: submitted the request and a few days later got a ref number for the collection, and was told collection would be within 10 working days. I've followed up every couple of weeks, had one note of apology end of January saying this would get sorted, but since then all my subsequent emails are simply ignored. This is not a "bitch about Southwark council email"! It is intended more as light-hearted competition to see who has waited the longest for their tree to get collected! Meanwhile I'm wondering why I personally didn't just do what most of my neighbours did: simply dump their trees in the street under dead of night, and see them cleaned up by the council within a few days
  13. We live just off Goose Green and had someone try to steal our car on Saturday night. I want to let locals know that there is likely a gang "doing the rounds" trying to steal cars using an easy method, which might be just as easy to guard yourself against. Our car has keyless entry and ignition. We normally park right ourtside our house, and keep the keys safely hidden indoors. Sadly there is an easy way to hack keyless tech: Robbers can buy relay boxes off the internet which detect your keys in the house and use that signal to miimc the key and unlock your car. We were lucky, they got into the car but couldn't hack the ignition. We never keep valuables in the car, so they left empty handed. Easy way to protect yourself from this crime: keep your car keys in a biscuit tin, or the fridge or microwave!
