  1. This is posted on behalf of my friend Judy... This is a long shot, but my husband has lost his wedding ring today around the forest hill/Dulwich area. He was cycling so he can't be sure where exactly he has lost it. It's a plain yellow gold band with the engraving "YOU MAKE ME" on the inside of the ring. If anyone finds it please can you let me know. It's our anniversary in 3 days and it would mean the world to us to have it back. Please feel free to share. Many thanks in advance. Judy
  2. Put in an IKEA kitchen in our last house - other half and his dad fitted it and it was great....only problem was that when we received the delivery here was only about a third of it there...it took about two months for us to receive the whole lot! But still loved it and got some compensation for the delay so can't complain!
  3. I'd say things are selling! We've been trying to buy somewhere for months now! Only problem is space - we ideally want a 2 bed place as been renting a 2 bed and just sold our 3 bed house in York so have a lot of stuff to move!! Just had an offer accepted on somewhere in Forest Hill...not ED...but not far! Fingers crossed this one goes through...unlike the other 3!! Good luck selling :)
  4. Hi James Am I right in thinking that there are landscaping works being planned currently for the Dog Kennel Hill / East Dulwich Estate? If so - do you know when these will be undertaken and what the likely cost would be for leaseholders? Many thanks!
  5. Try Moonfruit.com - it's really simple! Just drag and drop and much much cheaper than a designer etc - I've set up three or four websites using it. (I don't work for moonfruit!)
  6. Thanks to all the responses I've had from my post on this forum - it has been HUGELY helpful from councillors from both Lib Dems and Labour and all the general responses as well! Just trying to make the mortgage work and perhaps I might be an official ED-er soon! :)
  7. Hi James We are thinking of buying an ex-local authority flat in the Lordship Lane Estate. I've been doing some research and have come across a lot of rather scary articles about residents of council blocks receiving bills of around ?20,000-50,000 for major works required to their blocks. This is slightly off-putting to say the least... Are you aware of any upcoming 'major works' required in the estate? The costs seem ridiculous considering you only own a small part of the block - it wouldn't cost ?20,000 to re-window my current flat for example which is bigger than the one we're looking to purchase. I have noticed on the google maps street view of the estate that there were some major refurbishments and upgrades happening when the pictures were taken - but I don't know when this was - does this mean that the estate has had its fair share of big bills? Your advice very gratefully received! :)
  8. Oh whilst I'm at it...and this may already have been covered...so apologies if it has...but people reading on the tube in rush hour. I'm not currently an ED-ite - so my current journey is on the hellish Northern Line from Clapham South. I am 5'2 and if my nose isn't in someone's armpit, I've got someone's book shoved in my face. Now I love reading...but when someone has their arms stretched out reading a paper, I KNOW that I could squeeze in the space between them and their paper - not that I want to...but everyone has to squeeze in anyway...so why not fold up your paper or book whilst the big squeeze is on! I'm not anti book reading at any other time...but rush hour...come on people :(
  9. Ha...I wish! Just a very irritable being :) No...I put it down to some sort of sheep like behaviour...that they think I have picked the best seat so decide to come join me. What's even more annoying is that I always go out of my way to sit in a seat that I think no-one else will want to sit near...corners...awkward rows with funny numbers of seats...but still they come within 5 seats radius of me...drives me crazy! I was at a comedy club once where they asked the audience for things that annoyed them and I was picked. I voiced my annoyance at this and they improvised a little ditty called 'Go Sit Over There' within about 30 seconds. So annoying it's been immortalised in song! CharlieCharlie - the popcorn thing - that is annoying - I deliberately suck my popcorn as it annoys me so much. What is more annoying is the people who go and talk. Even in the trailers before the main feature it annoys me. Go to a cafe if you want to chat!! I only came on the forum to look at flats...
  10. People who, when the cinema is empty, choose to sit in the seats directly in front / beside / behind me...
  11. This sounds fab - we moved to London from York just over a year ago - and my boyfriend took part in York Open Studios two years in a row before we moved. It was a fantastic event and he sold loads of pictures! We've been moaning there isn't anything similar to where we are now. But hopefully in about a month or two we will be moving to East Dulwich and would love to get involved in something like this when we do move! :)
