  1. Unfortunately the body of a small cat has been found on the flower bed to the left of the bench outside JAPS on Village Way SE21. Someone has covered it with a white towel as the route is used by lots of children on their way to school but was able to note the bottom of the back legs were white. Posting in case someone is missing a much loved cat and would like to know what has happened. I will contact the council tomorrow to remove.
  2. Can someone please recommend a company to fit my wood burning stove. Thank you.
  3. I am also looking for a company to re-render the back of our house and would welcome recommendations. Thank you
  4. I have recently worked with Lisa and have found her help and advice invaluable. Lisa took time to fully understand my business and was able to show me how to increase my productivity. I now know which of my products are the most profitable and working efficiently has allowed me to develop new ideas and expand my business.
  5. As a Mum of two young children I was feeling exhausted and generally run down when a friend recommended I visit a fantastic healer they knew. I wasn?t really sure what healing was but knew that Reiki was a different form of healing. I found my session very relaxing; it left me feeling peaceful, happy and restored the energy I had been lacking. I just wanted to pass on this recommendation to other mums in East Dulwich who may be interested. http://abigailcaller.co.uk/about-abigail/testimonials/
  6. I had not been to the Plough for a while as I was put off by some bad reviews on the forum but having had a fantastic Sunday lunch there today just wanted to recommend it. My husband ordered beef and I had the nut roast both of which were delightful and served with baby carrots, broadbeans and courgettes which were fresh and well cooked. The kids menu was excellent and our daughters really enjoyed their homemade fish fingers, chips and crushed peas. The puddings were some of the best I had eaten in a while especially my salted caramel and chocolate tart and the sticky toffee pudding. Well worth the walk to support a local that seems to have turned around since some of the last reviews.

  8. Yes yet another crash on this stretch of Lordship Lane. I have raised this with James Barber see below Re: East Dulwich councillor - how can I help? Posted by Lordship September 17, 10:17AM Hi James You may have seen the posts relating to the accident on lordship lane at 10.15 pm on 16/09/12 this is the second high speed accident on this stretch of Lordship Lane. Cars regularly travel well above the speed limit on this section and there have been many near misses. There is a crossing island between Friern and Upland road, which is heavily used by the pupils of Goodrich School, and the Harris Academies to cross Lordship Lane and I have witnessed some very near misses as cars travel so fast there. I feel a sign that flashes slow down and shows the car's speed would really help slow traffic if positioned near Underhill or Overhill Road (on the left hand side of the lane when travelling towards East Dulwich). Also there is a lot of wreckage left from the cars on the side of the road and around the tree one of the cars hit and lots of petrol on the road and pavement as one of the cars petrol tank split during the accident, I will contact the council and ask if it could be cleaned up and would be grateful if you could do the same. I would also be very grateful if you have any insights into the council?s position on traffic calming for this section of Lordship Lane or how neighbours and myself should go about asking for some traffic calming measures. Thank you for your time. However I fear the accident stats for this part of Lordship Lane are incorrect as you can see from James's reply Re: East Dulwich councillor - how can I help? Posted by James Barber September 19, 08:42AM Hi Lordship, Looking at the last three years of crash data for this locaiton (www.crashmap.co.uk) 2009,2010 & 2011 shows 2 slight injuries over 2 crashes along the Lordship Lane around junctions with Friern and Upland Roads. We have a number of other locations in East Dulwich which have more crashes and with more severity. I personally think we should be deploying average speed cameras arond Southwark. Siemens is happy to provide them and fund requiring 3 speed awareness courses funded by speedsters per week. But it's complicated by the west side being in Village ward whose councillors have previously shown reluctance about controlling speedsters - hence the shared part of Melbourne Grove being one of the very few East Dulwich roads not 20mph. -------------------- Regards [email protected] 07900 227366 Liberal Democrat Councillor for East Dulwich Ward [www.jamesbarber.org.uk] [twitter.com] It was good of James to reply but hope the council don't wait for another fatality until they decide to do something.
  9. Hi mynamehere Thank you for your information I do feel that a slow down sign is needed as there is a crossing island between Friern and Upland road, which is heavily used by the pupils of Goodrich School, and the Harris Academies to cross Lordship Lane and I have witnessed some very near misses as cars travel so fast there. I have just posted on James Barbers thread to ask him to look into this and how to go about asking the council for traffic calming measures on this section. I hope the lady whose car was hit last night and the plain clothed police officers involved are not badly hurt but I feel with two high speed crashes in recent months the next crash could have a tragic outcome.

  11. Live on Lordship Lane and heard the accident the police car must have been going very fast as the noise was deafening. Went to see if I could help but lots of people already helping (weirdly plain clothed policeman from the car was more interested in asking if I had heard the siren). Myself and my neighbours were all asked this but no one had heard sirens or seen a flashing blue lights. I hope the lady they hit is ok but the police really need to use their flashing lights at night as they normally turn off their sirens. As Elephant says this is the second crash on this part of Lordship Lane. Cars regularly drive at 40+ and it's only a matter of time until another crash happens. I am always very surprised how fast cars are traveling when I am reversing out of my driveway. A sign that flashes slow down and shows the car's speed would really help slow traffic if postioned near Overhill Road (on the left hand side of the lane when traveling towards East Dulwich).
  12. The family changing room floors would be a lot cleaner if parents were to use the shoe covers provided when changing their kids before and after their swimming lessons. When my kids attend only a few parents bother to do this and it would prevent kids tracking dirt into the pool-better for everyone. As the pool is well used by children, ensuring parents and teachers ask children to empty their bladders before swimming would be helpful. I thought everyone did this but maybe a few signs would help.
  13. Both my girls started at The Dulwich Ballet School at 2 1/2 and still attend years later, they both love it and Miss Hodge and Miss Jo are brilliant with the very young. Sally-Ann Hodge @ Dulwich Ballet School 07958 753883 Mobile
