  1. Hi Alistair, Don?t know if you got your decorater but I?ve just posted above and here?s the number of my brilliant decorater Kevin.. 07802777386. He?s very good.
  2. I want to share my wonderful find with you all. Kev the decorater has transformed my dowdy house into a palace. He is a hard working individual who advises and helps on colours and buys them for you if you need, he is reasonable in his charges and most of all is totally trustworthy. He had my keys for over a month with no problems, he even let the dog out. Have attached his card or call Kevin on 07802 777 386 or email [email protected] If you need a good value great service you won?t regret it.
  3. Yes, I can definately recommend London Interior Shutter, a firm based in E Dulwich. They were recommended to me by a friend who?d had a full house done.. I needed 4 windows. They couldn?t have been more helpful or patient with me and my questions and the work was of a very high standard and very reasonable. They wore shoe covers and cleaned up after themselves. Great job.
  4. Yes,we saw the squirrels eating the crocuses in Dulwich park the other day. I expect they really look forward to seeing them at this time of the year..a squirrel delicacy! My small children were horrified when they saw them saying look the squirrels are picking the flowers..so funny! We can excuse the squirrels as they don't have 'responsible walkers, owners or parents to guide their antisocial behaviour.
  5. Good positive comments everyone. Look out in Peckham Rye Park for some lovely posters designed by our playgroup. And please do not be afraid to confront the pickers, they have to be told.
  6. Zero tolerance fellow flower people. This post has 1190 views so if all of the people who viewed tell ten people each, hopefully the message will be out there. Over in the Japenese gardens is a memorial stone for Alice K Street who founded The London children's flower society. We all used to grow a daffodil and hope for a prized yellow certificate for our efforts. It taught us to love our surroundings and to respect flowers.Children need to know if they pick a flower it dies..how awful! I sincerely hope the message gets through that your children will respect our flowers whether you teach them or others do. Teach your children to spend time peacefully in the park watching and listening for birds.Spotting wildlife and learning the names of the trees and flowers, be responsible for the beginnings of their community spirit.
  7. Thankyou everyone for your support. We must all stop this anti social behavior.. Look out for my lovely well behaved mindees posters and their friends from playgroup. They will be on hotspots this week.
  8. Yes indeed JohnL,last year we visited a national trust property with bluebell woods, the trail started and ended with gates with big signs, please do NOT pick our beautiful bluebells as they are protected being indigenous British ones.At the end of the trail I was horrified to see a big pile of wilted bluebells where people had discarded them after spotting the volunteer waiting further on the trail.. you can't educate pork!!
  9. Sorry that happened to you Andrew..get well soon. Cowards only hunting in packs..
  10. Thankyou MrsY will be calling the wardens first thing tomorrow morning.May get my perfectly behaved little mindees to design posters too 👼🌷🌸🌺
  11. Yes I've seen that poster, I admired it,even though at the time I was surprised it was needed especially in the Hornimans as it does have keepers, but I've come to realise the parents are actually allowing the children to behave in this way.At least we would be justified in saying something if there were posters. I've been called a busybody and told to mind my own business.
  12. I think I may approach the park keepers office with a view to getting some posters put up on the main gates and by the displays letting parents and others know it is not appropriate to pick or walk amongst the flower displays, they are there for such a short time. I'm still flabbergasted that we would have to tell people how to behave.
  13. Thanks everyone, I was actually beginning to think it was just me..what annoys me is the haughty what on earth do you mean looks that you get if you dare to complain. Yes Robert I think it is the self-centred attitude of entitlement and actually it is getting worse. I think parents are scared to tell their children no,I have no idea why.I know they are 'only flowers'but you have to start teaching respect for property young. I am a childminder and my children know not to pick or trample on the flowers, instead we discuss how beautiful they are, what colours we like best and the children are taught to smell and gently touch,if they have to,but not pick or trample. I love Peckham Rye Park and we are so lucky to have such lovely gardens to walk in and enjoy, and Thankyou Louise keep up the good work, fellow flower vigilante.
  14. Today I've watched four different people picking crocuses in Peckham Rye park. The beautiful show of flowers by the picnic area are for everyone to enjoy. I am absolutely fed up with parents letting their children pick flowers. I've lived here in the area for all of my life and we would never have picked flowers from the park as we were all taught from an early age that it was theft.(bit harsh) we lived in fear of 'the browns' who were the old fashioned park rangers who would accompany you home if you dared to pick flowers from the park. Why do 'modern' parent seem to think it is ok to let the children pick them but also stamp them into the ground and pretend not to notice? Is it possible they don't realise they are not allowed to pick the flowers? Worse still a lady, old enough to know better, today actually walked her 2 labradors across the two flower beds and then told me to mind my own business when I asked her not to walk on the flowers. I promptly told her it was my business and the path was a better place for her to walk. She then with impunity walked over the one on the other side of the path. I'm obviously getting old at 53 but please East Dulwich mummies and dear doggie walkers respect our lovely Peckham Rye Park.
  15. London interior shutters are great, they are a small company run by a guy called Dan who done ours.I got in touch with Dan,he came round and gave me a quote,I found him very polite and professional and the quote was by far the best Ive had.As I liked Dan in person and his quote I went with it. On the day the shutters were fitted he arrived on time, as I expected Dan was very professional in his work and he had the job done in no time unlike a lot of tradesman I have had recently in my house he was very neat and tidy, clearing up properly when he was done. Great service, great product, they look lovely,I will not hesitate to recommend him. call 0800 023 5044 or email Dan at [email protected] website... www.inshutters.co.uk
  16. I have a one day space available on a Thursday for a baby or toddler.I am Ofsted registered with all the requirements.I have worked with local families for 10 years and have lots of references past and present. I work from 8-6 and we have a very happy and relaxed set up. Feel free to p.m for a call back and an informal chat.
  17. Don't know where you get that St Thomas the Apostle was "somewhere you go when you don't get your first choice",it was always a fabulous boys school and is back up there now. You had to be a practising Catholic with a priests letter too.
  18. Hi Laur, how bizarre,it possibly could have been 76/77 but I thought it was late afternoon playtime although it may have visited before.I find it incredible that no,one else has mentioned this and I do see quite a few people who would possibly have been there at the time.Maybe only certain people see them like ghosts or children who are often disbelieved, personally I've never said as I feel people think you are making it up.note that the person who started this thread admitted to having a few pints, also the people in America who talk about abduction are ridiculed and perhaps that's why no,one with any sense talks about it. I am actually quite sceptical and a sensible person.
  19. I'm amazed someone else remembers the UFO in Waverley upper,I have a hazy recollection of it (perhaps we aren't supposed to be able to remember it) was it about 1977/78.I also remember the adults ushering us in but truly cannot recall ever having a conversation about it.Im glad somebody else has spoken about it as I thought I may have imagined it as I was 12 or 13 at the time.
  20. Yes,but we were`nt placed there. My precious grandaughter is at the nursery and loves it,she got a place at Goodrich but we chose Bellenden as it is a small and friendly school, they even let a nosy nanny do a settling in day which was lovely. We are impressed by the staff and she is thriving,we are happy for her to start in reception. Popular and fashionable are not always best. You can always become involved and help to raise standards.
  21. I love Bellenden school. Its small and friendly.Children are well behaved and polite. My small grandaughter started the nursery in September after getting a place here and at Goodrich,I have found the staff totally approachable, even letting nosy nanny do a settling in session. My grandaughter brings home a workbook and a reading book each Friday and the feedback is always positive. She is happy and has friends of all types which suits us fine.We are a Peckham family of several generations.Support your local school, get involved, dont go with the fashion, stay local.
