    Skiing

We were there 3 weeks ago and there wasn't any snow for skiing, we went past one of the areas they use and it definately wasn't up and running. Last winter they didn't have enough snow to open, but try this site it might help http://www.visiticeland.com/infosearch.asp?cat_id=222&area=&type=5&subtype=5.10.0&keyword=Keyword There is a glacier where we went snowmobiling (really good fun) but we didn't see any facilities for skiing... There is a tourist information office on the corner of Skolastraeti and Bankastraeti with a very charming lady who's surname is Smith (can't remember her first name) she helped us organise the snowmobiling, our horse riding (Mr G on a horse is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen) and the blue lagoon (a must - so bonkers!). We loved it - such a beautiful country, and really cool people - make sure you join the Friday / Saturday night pub crawl. They know how to drink! But freezing cold and v windy so take a hat that will stay on. You're welcome to borrow our lonely planet!
  2. Fought and suffered? That's one way to describe your sex life...
  3. Ha ha - that sounds frighteningly familiar. We should definately start a club for people without pushchairs - shall we start the ball rolling and set a date? You never know there might be others who come out of the woodwork and declare themselves offspring free and up for an evenings entertainment.
  4. I heard it was so that anyone trying to inject drugs couldn't find a vein.
  5. Sorry if there was any confusion but Annaj is right, I'm very happily child free but have just found my group of London based friends available for a cheeky pinot has wandered off into the homecounties with a pushchair. Most groups seem to be well represented on the forum (singles, homeworkers, mums, etc) I just wondered if there was anything for 30 something workaholics?
  6. I am of course being completely selfish as my main complaint is that it is ruining my social life. Meeting up with my friends now involves child friendly pubs in distant home counties that take 3 hours to get back from in the rain. What ever happened to late nights and smoke filled bars.... Ah, those were the days...
  7. Geeze what happened? All of my friends have had children and have moved to the country. My 2 last child free london based pals have chucked in the towel and are hot footing it to Norfolk and Australia... Everyone I work with is lovely but under 25... Am I the last late 30's person in East Dulwich, with no children, long working hours, and a fear of the WI?
  8. Thanks ontheedge and sazzle - I've found the information for the safer team so have logged it with them. Fortunately is a wooden door which sticks in the winter! But I'm now feeling very paranoid that they might come back...
  9. to report that someone has tried to get in my kitchen door but failed? Though they have managed to rip off the door handle... i'm worried they might come back...
  10. GBK, was briefly the Dulwich Brasserie but before that it was a different restaurant - all I can remember is that it had bright orange walls, and stained glass windows and did quite a good line in mussels etc. Was it called Westons?
  11. Howdy neighbors - so what is the general consensus on pronunciation? "Aye-dees" Road or "Adiss" Road? I've had both from long time locals so never have a clue.
  12. I've lived in Adys Road for the last 7 years and love the fact that I can use Peckham Rye in the morning (lots more trains than East Dulwich) but get all the benefits of Lordship Lane. It is a little noisy due to the traffic but I've never had a problem with parking. The Bellenden Residents Group is the lot mentioned above - I think you can sign up for their newsletters by sending your email to [email protected]. The plot on the corner was a builders yard until about a year ago and has been refused building permission several times but I think their last application for flats got through. There is also a rumour that the pub at the bottom of the road the Oglander is also going to be turned into flats. The other benefit is of course the Gowlett pub round the corner for organic wine and great pizza!
