  1. South Bank CC is a local cricket club playing friendly cricket to a decent(ish) standard on both Saturdays and Sundays. We play friendly fixtures (no league), we're a well run club with good facilities, a great ground and a decent wicket. http://www.sbcricketclub.co.uk/ Home ground is Dulwich Sports Ground off Turney Road and yes we have our own bar! Nets are on a Wednesday night at the ground from 6pm, all standards and ages welcome from occasional cricketers to decent players. If you're interested drop me a message. Cheers, Jim
  2. Cheers Paul, will add you to the mailing list and make sure you get an email about nets this Wednesday. Sunday games start next weekend (19th) and then Saturday and Sunday fixtures every week thereafter. Jim
  3. South Bank CC is a local cricket club playing friendly cricket to a decent(ish) standard on Saturdays and Sundays. We play only friendly fixtures (no league) but the team is well run with good facilities, a nice ground and a decent wicket. Home ground is Dulwich Sports Ground off Turney Road. We have our own bar, clubhouse and nets and are a sociable bunch, enjoying a pint afterwards and the odd night out. We also run a weekend tour every summer to the south coast. All standards and ages welcome, from occasional cricketers to decent players. We have Wednesday evening nets at the ground from around 6 so come along to have a hit or turn your arm over. If you're interested drop me a message, be great to hear from you. Jim
  4. Hi, South Bank CC is a local non-pretentious cricket club playing friendly cricket on both Saturdays and Sundays. Despite not playing 'league', the team is well run with good facilities, a nice ground and a decent wicket. Home ground is Dulwich Sports Ground off Turney Road (a handy 15 minute walk from the Crown and Greyhound). It has it's own bar, changing facilities and nets. We're a fairly sociable bunch and manage the odd night out in East Dulwich. Standards very variable, some folks haven't played too much, some are decent cricketers. We haven't officially got any winter nets on but a bunch of us are attending nets run by Graham Clinton on a Monday night, 6pm, Dulwich Prep School. PM me if you fancy joining us. Our website is at http://www.sbcricketclub.co.uk/ Thanks! Jim
  5. South Bank is a small friendly cricket club looking for one or two new players. We only play friendlies, not league cricket, so don't take it too seriously (well mostly!). Lovely ground, decent wicket, a bar and good facilities. Home ground off Turney Road, local pub the Crown and Greyhound. PM me if you fancy joining us for a few pre-season nets (Sunday nights at the Oval, Wednesday nights in Dulwich park as soon as the weather and the light improves) Jim
  6. We've had soooo many problems with this, the main reason cabbies don't accept is that they have almost no chance of picking up a return fare from ED towards town, they want to do the profitable runs between say the west end and camden. That's why you usually only get refused on a Friday or Saturday evening during the peak periods for taxis. We once complained about a driver, and received an email back to say that he'd been reprimanded, whether he actually had or not who knows. I can never normally be a*sed doing stuff like this but we'd got so fed up with the situation and he was particularly obnoxious about it. We were already inside the cab and he was refusing to take us (me and my wife) If you're in the cab and he's refusing to take you, make a note of his number and email a complaint off the next day. Maybe if more people do it'll happen less in the future. Bottom line is they are a licensed service, and they are obliged to take you. On the one hand they want you to not use the unlicensed dodgy cabs which threaten their trade. Fair enough, I agree, but black cabs should keep their part of the bargain and accept valid fares. Be interesting to know if any cabbies have a point of view.
  7. We hired these guys for our wedding gig in the Rye http://www.musicforlondon.co.uk/lost_boys_party_band.htm a lot more expensive than a DJ I guess (about 1100) but they were excellent
  8. Went there yesterday also, we were the 'right side of the imaginery line' and have to say it was a mixed experience. There was much confusion in the delivery of both our starters and our main courses (although all was fixed eventually), Lamb was very good but steak was average (apparently), and the fish came with such a meagre accompaniment that a side order of potatoes was hastily added. Disappointing cheesecake to finish too. We considered withholding our service, but got the impression that it wasn't really the waiters' fault and they were both apologetic, friendly and polite throughout so we left it at a brief complaint. Doubt we'll go back though. Also, not sure why you'd want to call the French Frogs, when losing semi finalists is soooooooo much more appropriate, aha, ahhaaaa, ahaaaaaaaaaaa... To be gracious in victory is ... well, not as much fun frankly.
  9. I use google reader to browse the forum (which is awesome by the way, many thanks), and I don't know how many other people use an rss reader, but I personally would find it really useful if only the original post for a particular thread appeared within the rss feed. At the moment each thread is mixed up with all the other threads, and I find myself sifting through loads of replies in order to pick out the starting point for each thread, so that I can follow each one seperately. I suppose the argument against is that some people want to see every single posting (I guess this would have made much more sense when there was a lot less traffic on the forum), but it takes a looooong time to go through everything, and once you've spotted an interesting thread, and clicked on it, you get to see all the replies anyway. Anyway, just a thought, be most grateful if it makes it onto the todo list. jg
  10. Hi Justin, We play local friendly cricket in Belair Park (next to Dulwich Park, behind the pic gallery) http://belaircc.pbwiki.com/ And we like a beer as the photos from our last game will testify. (Although last week was our 'friendliest of friendlys' and we usually do take it slightly more seriously!) We have a game this weekend unfortunately so might have to be next season now, although if the weather holds maybe we could try for a 23rd September game... If you're interested click on contact us and send Mike an email.
