There's a lot going on on Bellenden and it's getting better and better. I actually think that the Bellenden Brasserie is the only blot on the landscape. If that became buzzing (and there really are plenty of middle-class 30-somethings round and about who would fill it on Sat and Sun lunchtimes if it was offering hearty food and a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere), the whole street would fall into place. Yes there are a few shops to let, but rumours of who might be filling them point to Bellenden developing into a charming alternative to North Cross Road. For those of us who live in "Bellenden Village" the future feels bright. Don't rain on our parade.

Well I seemed to be blind drunk almost immediately. As I consequence, can recall only small details of the evening's events. A raffle. A speech? A very nice man with a beard. Some sambuca. If I met you, it was very nice to meet you. Mark - I do remember you. A lovely host. Oh and I very much enjoyed cutting the cake into enormous rectangles. Deeply satisfying. Thank you. xxx

Yes it was a little bit disappointing, really, but I don't think they were quite ready ? it was less a deli than a collection of sandwich fillings in old ice cream tubs and a pile of unopened cardboard boxes. I think it will get better, though, as the couple seemed really nice and really keen to please. I think they just need a bit more stock ? and a bit more time.

Excellent. We need a nice Gastropub down Bellenden way ? I'm fearful of the Wishing Well and the Prince Albert.
