Hi McCabe Thanks for the German eve last Tuesday. Annoyingly I can't make it this week (have work meetings) or next (half term so we're away). Hope to make it to the one the week after. Will it still be at 7.30 on Tuesdays? Thanks for the book suggestion. I'm going to buy the French version to brush up on too! Thanks Kate

Weaning breastfed baby before 6 months
katielou replied to EDmummy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Totally agree that there is too much conflicting advice out there - I breastfed for 6 months - but ended up topping up with bottles towards the end as my little man was soooo hungry - was trying to hold off weaning till 6 months because of the latest advice. I haven't read all the posts on this topic - there are quite a few pages - so this article might have been mentioned before http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12180052 Noone really knows do they?! And I agree with everyone that mums put far too much pressure on themselves (I had an awful meeting with a hv who told me I should never ever ever give my baby finger foods as he might choke - the next hv I saw advised me to give him finger foods - who knows?!) - at the end of the day - looking at all my friends, I would have no idea who was breastfed / bottle fed / weaned early or later - and they are all healthy, happy adults now! -

Term time child care for parent teacher?
katielou replied to katielou's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks Crystal - that is helpful. Do you happen to have the details of the childminder you found who only worked term time? Also, do you know what the going rate for childminders is? The school I've got him signed up to is pretty reasonable - about ?47 a day - don't supposed I would be able to get a childminder for that much???!!! Also do you know how nanny shares work? Thanks Kate -
Hello Does anyone know if there are any nurseries in Dulwich (East Dulwich pref) that are term time only? I'm due back to work when my son is 1 and have signed up to a nursery close to work which is run for teachers - i.e. it's only open during term time so you don't have to pay for holidays. The nursery won't have places in time so I would like to sign him up to a local nursery (means I won't have to commute with him as well) but I haven't found anything when searching online. Can anyone help? Thanks Kate

Hi McCabe Just to say that I'm intending to come tomorrow morning but apologies if I don't make it as I am out tonight (I don't know how energetic I'll be if I have a late night!). Apologies from my husband also for not making the Sunday cycle - he is definitely keen but I think the length put him off this time - when is your next one? Looking forward to the mums and babes fitness group. Thanks Kate

We were equally worried how our cat would react but touch wood so far (my little boy is only 2 and a half weeks old) he has been very good. He was quite curious at first and starting sniffing around the moses basket while my son was asleep so i just put our cat outside and think he got the message as he hasn't been bothered by the basket since. He did also jump into the pram the other day but we quickly whisked him away with a stern voice. I think we'll continue to keep them apart for the moment until our cat gets used to the new baby smell and then introduce them slowly. One thing we were recommended is buying some Feliway. You might have seen the adverts. It comes either as a spray or a plug in thing and gives off friendly facial pheromones which calm cats. We sprayed some in the cats basket and around the house and that seems to have helped. I agree with other also that he has actually become much more affectionate with us, wanting extra cuddles, more so with my husband but then that's probably because i seem to always have a baby attached to my boob! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
