  1. It's my son's 4th Birthday Party on the 24th July; we booked the Wildlife Garden before we went on holiday and sent the invites out. When we returned from our holiday I called to arrange dropping off the payment and it turns out that it shouldn't have been booked in the first place thanks to an all day ceremony - or similar! I have left a message for the Darrell Rd Centre and the 1 o'clock club but need to sort something ASAP. If anyone has any ideas ( for places that allow us to bring our own food), that would be really helpful. Many thanks in advance. Katrina
  2. Thank you all so much for putting our minds at rest; it's such a shame that all of this wasn't sold to us on the tour! Trine
  3. My son has a place at GG to start in Sept. It was number 6 on our list as we had a few concerns and I was wondering if anyone can set us straight. The arts are a big priority for us and our children's education. When we visited GG the Creative Development part of their curriculum wasn't sold to us at all. We didn't even know that there was a music room until we got round to reading the 'Welcome Pack.' We want our son to be given as many opportunities to be creative as possible, in addition to Maths & English etc (which was really being pushed on the tour). Can anyone reassure us that this is a creative school? Many thanks Trine
  4. Hi Julie In the 1930's my Grandad used to play in a dance band and organise dances held at the baths. We have a number of tickets (the ones that didn't sell) that I can offer up. I was actually holding on to them to give to the baths at some point. I believe that the new years dances were very popular. It always makes me think of 'It's A Wonderful Life' when the swimming pool is covered over for the ball. I'll speak to my Uncle and Dad too to see if they have any memories or other items. Let me know if you are interested. Katrina x
  5. ps. There will be homebaked buns or cakes on your return!
  6. My family (husband, toddler, baby & myself) are looking for places to stay in and around SE22 during September. We are having building work done on our house and it won't be in a suitable state for us to return too and we need to be out of our temporary accomodation at the end of August. We really want to stay in the area as it would be less disruptive for my kiddlies as I still want my son to go to his nursery and to meet with playmates. We haven't had any luck with short term let's as they either had flights of stairs to get to the front door or didn't want children in the accomodation. Therefore, If you and your family take pity on us and wouldn't mind us staying in your house or flat and watering the plants (obviously we shall contribute to bills) then please do let me know. Kind regards Katrina, Ade, Stan & Flora
  7. I've taken to carrying around spare shoes for my toddler as he has ended up with dog muck on this shoes so many times. It won't be long before he falls in some. Don't people realise that dog muck is full of germs and if those enter someones system; eg. via a cut, the consequences can be life threatening! It makes me so cross!
  8. Hi Amy With allergies, delayed reactions are very common. Many of my daughter's reactions are delayed and does make identifying the allergen very hard as the reaction my not show until days later, however I haven't heard of temperature as a reaction but as I am discovering; anything is possible. The only way to find out for sure is to try it out on bub again. Look for other signs too, symptoms can differ so much but eczema is very common.
  9. P.s. Did you put butter in it? If so, dairy allergies are really common in infants.
  10. Hi My daughter is 11 months now and when I started weaning her she would vomit an hour or so later, banana, pancake, cheese.... It turns out that she has lots of allergies, including rare ones such as banana and corn. Is bub sick after other food stuff too or just the tatties? Also, does he have any skin problems, such as eczema? Just a thought. Let me know if you would like any more info on allergies...I'm becoming an expert. Trine
