  1. Hello, My niece may come from overseas during the month of July. I am looking for recommendations re a reasonably priced (<?500) English course that is local. Failing that, I would be looking for a school towards the London bridge area. Her age is 15. The most suitable course would be one for pupils of a similar age group. Thank you
  2. What's the closest pond/lake I can take my son to play with his remote controlled boat? I'd want very shallow water so that we can get the boat back if the remote control stops working, thanks,
  3. Hello, We are looking for a nanny to help on occasion with our 5-year old son. Drop off/pick up from school on some mornings and some afternoons. We are looking for someone local (within 2 miles of SE22). Hope to hear from you,
  4. Hello, Are there any drama theater-like classes for children around 5-6 in the area? Rds,
  5. Hi, Is there anywhere open in East dulwich to buy proper roses, but that is open on Sunday.
  6. Yes initial tiredness I think. It's important to take extra time to wake them early enough (a full 1h15mns before having to leave home), have them something else to do before leaving home that can be part of the pre school routine, so they wake up properly... and then go. Also, re their experience of the matter, going to school leisurely is much better than going stressed (to drop them off quickly and then rush off to work)... All of this of course requires an early sleep at night, for them, and for you as well:-)
  7. Hi I just wanted to make people aware of this school opening up next September 2015 currently taking in reception and Year 1 applications. http://www.thebelhamprimaryschool.org.uk/contact-us.html Between sep2015 and sep2016, the premises would be in the church next to the planned school building, at the corner of bellenden road and maxted road. There is plenty of space available in Year 1 for which we have applied for our son. What i have liked is particular the big scope possible for contributing as parents because this is a bit of a new school, backed by the experience of a team from dulwich hamlet junior school. Regards, Send me a private message if anything
  8. Exactly, when we started with my 4 year old a year and half ago, classes were 5 kids a teacher. It deteriorated slowly to reach 10 kids nowadays. The teacher looked overwhelmed, probably thinking how she would manage it. I am trying to see how many parents share my concern before approaching management to request more staff. Please forward to any other parents you know, and have them post a message in this forum, Thanks,
  9. Hello, I'm looking for parents who takes then children 3-5 year olds to this swimming pool for general discussions. The issue at hand is the changes in the quality of the lessons over the past year. Please reply to this thread, Thanks Hicham
  10. hi, A nanny will start working for us in a few weeks. As far as i understood, we don't need to do anything if she is paid under ?110 a week. Above that, we need to officially employ here and pay employer NI and other employer related obligations. Anyone using NannyPaye(?160 for the year) or NannyTax(?270 for the year) or another service to manage PAYE and dealing with HMRC? rds,
  11. we have just followed advice from our health visitor and got into a routine of 7 to 7 with 2 feeds at night and 1 or 2 extra times waking up because of an uncomfortable position or losing the dummy. unfortunately, our son got sick this week with a very high fever and so it broke the routine completely. I had him sleep on my chest 2 nights ago, which was the only thing settling him. now that the fever's over yesterday, we're trying again the routine from scratch. expect 2hours or crying first night, and a few minutes the following nights. all that said, having stay asleep all night is still some distance off, and we may get the help of a night nanny anyways.
  12. that sounds very interesting, thank you for telling us your story.
  13. Thanks, What are talking about here for a couple of nights? a grand? Were a couple of nannies enough to stabilize the situation? regards,
  14. Hello, We have a 9 month old son and we haven't managed to get him to settle on his own at night, ie we rock him to sleep. plus he wakes up often (5 times) for what I think may be comfort feeding, though he may be indeed hungry. Did any parent get help from a sleep clinic? are these all private clinics or are there some attached to NHS? Also, has anyone had a night nanny? the situation is not extreme but we are worried it may worsen. regards,
