  1. Hmmm, I think they look on here selectively. Who did you contact? I know they are inundated at the moment but I have found my councillor (mcash) does come back, even if it takes a little while.
  2. Given the number of people with similar issues, is ot worth raising with your local councillor?
  3. According to this post from the family of the house owners, it's vandalism https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/2011961652268677/
  4. I think there are lots of people who would rather not live in a country blighted by litter- I don't see how this is exclusive to being middle class. The tone of the comments feel deliberately inflammatory to me,
  5. Ok, we can agree to disagree. I think this person enjoys winding people up.
  6. Because they are written in a way to incite a reaction from people who are upset about the disrespect that's being shown to our shared green spaces and to eachother. Who in their right mind actually thinks it's ok to leave public spaces in the kind of state they have been left in of late. It ruins the environment for all who use it, kills wildlife and pollutes our waterways, plus costs us approx 1 billion a year to deal with, not to mention diverting park staff who were presumably hired to plant flowers, care for trees etc, not spend hours clearing litter every day. And anyone who genuinely thinks the public purse is an infinite source of funding for whatever our hearts desire surely has lost the plot. And to justify the idea that people can't be bothered to carry out the same items they came in with when unprecedented numbers of people turn up expecting bin space for their picnic waste? Look at KidKrugers pictures- is that ok in the cold light of day? People do these things because they are drunk, copying other people, feeling a bit lazy etc. But defending it in writing in the cold light of day just feels like a wind-up to me.
  7. I think that more recycling bins are a great idea but won't solve the problem of irresponsble/drunk people dumping litter on the ground- that's asking them to do more, not less. wjlawrence Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi dontbesilly, > > Unfortunately, leaving rubbish next to bins is a > non-starter because of foxes that are scavenging > for food overnight - I visit the parks early in > the morning and it's very sad to see the rubbish > spread out over a wide area where foxes have done > their work. 8. Don'tbesilly is quite clearly a troll- I wouldn't engage with their comments.
  9. Things that might work: More bins/bigger bins/ bins emptied more frequently- Dulwich Park seemed to be doing a much better job on this front when I went there a couple of weeks ago. I've seen no positive change in PR Campaigns to educate/encourage positive change (like the one in York) Ban alcohol/increase police presence in the evening - they are trying to do this in Hackney as local residents became fed up of the parks being taken over by revellers and excluding everyone else Fines being enforced I would suggest anyone who has had enough writes directly to Cllr Richard Livingstone as he leads on this area for Southwark and he does read and respond to his emails So far, apart from an improved bin situation in DP, I've seen virtually no action from Southwark. Richard did like the York poster when I sent to him though and said he would look into whether something can be done here.

  11. Totally agree, but why can't it be without the ASB?
  12. I also wonder if the demographic of the area is changing, Peckham is very trendy now, lots more young people who were the majority of the people around at that time. Obviously not all young people leave rubbish etc but some do...
  13. Never seen it like that before, it is full of people who would probably otherwise be in clubs, pubs and houseparties, or at actual festivals.
  14. I popped there one Sat eve and couldn't believe the state of the place with noise, litter and lack of social distancing. I was surprised at the time that I hadn't seen more noise from local residents- it was like walking into a festival. I think you have to make ALOT of noise to get things addressed but it can have results. There was a post on Dawsons Heights that was taken down and that situation looked even worse. Mary123 has since posted an update so it might be worth contacting her to see if she has any advice. Personally I would call 101 and I would write to Cllr Richard Livingstone. I don't see how the council can justify tolerating the disturbance to residents, the litter (the cost of clearing it each day must be huge) and the flouting of covid rules. I appreciate that many people will be doing nothing wrong but there are too many who are. Good luck

I have just written an email to Richard Livingstone who is the lead councillor on this and shared the poster with him as an example. His email address is below if anyone else wants to do the same [email protected]

Ha ha, totally agree with you. Partly the dust and partly certain types who come out in the sun and feel compelled to drop their rubbish all over the place...
  17. Litter on a grassy hill may not be as bad as breaking into a private estate and vandalising people's properties. But it is a criminal offence and more importantly, it is causing local residents to feel a sense of dread about entering this space and spend their own time clearing up every morning. Surely this is not the kind of environment we want to just accept we live in.
  18. I really don't understand the 'teenagers will be teenagers' kind of attitude. These situations cause huge distress and poor mental health for those impacted- it's a serious problem which the authorities need to deal with. Trying to belittle Mary's feelings is not not helpful or kind.
  19. May be the MP could put pressure on noise team to re-open. There must be some level of service they could offer whilst complying with covid guidelines. Sounds like they could hang out at Dawsons Heights most nights which is open air!
  20. Mary123, is there a way to bring people together who are feeling the same way so that you can discuss a co-ordinated approach. There must be other residents feeling the same way who would take comfort from not feeling alone and want to be part of the solution.
  21. I do think the council is talking about all Southwark parks and all Southwark residents btw, so they are not singling people out who live on the roads immediately next to Dulwich Park...
  22. If you are capable of dropping rubbish anywhere apart fron a bin, I don't know why your moral compass would suddenly kick in because you are in the area where you reside. Dropping rubbish does not become less wrong because you are not near your home. So yes, I think it's highly feasible that some residents are to blame.
  23. Nooooo, not Pearspring, I love that shop and the staff are so lovely 🙁🙁. This is so sad.
  24. James, thanks for this update. Picking up on Ginster's sign, can the council look at doinga campaign that actually gets the message across. I have seen Southwark council tweet that they are asking residents to do their bit to keep parks clean but I have seen nothing from the council that will achieve this. Surely if this was done properly it would save resources as there would be less clearing up to do.
  25. My kids are getting back to school/nursery this week so I will have aome time to put into doing something on this which goes beyond frustrated posts here and to the council. If volunteers do come together on this, it needs to be more than a relatively invisible clean up job that the majority of offenders are oblivious to- and it needs council/friends of partnership. If anyone is interested in collaborating on this with me, let me know.
