Thank you!

Haven't travelled for a while but need to next week. TFL's website seems to have been updated and is not working properly for me, does anyone know if the trains are running as they used to, ie every half hour via Denmark Hill? Many thanks.

Hermes courier service is quite reasonable, have sometimes found it cheaper than the post office, even if they collect from your door.

Try putting your post in the business section, good luck.

Don't flush kitchen roll, most of you will know this but have realised that a surprising amount of people are not aware that kitchen roll will block up your drains pretty quickly as it's designed to not break up!

Mehmet has been back recently to add more fencing to my garden , plus built a good sized raised bed from scratch and sorted out an old brick patio. Lots of free advice on planting etc as well! Great bloke, very patient and cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended, thanks Mehmet.

Very disappointed after seeing such good reviews. When I first called Lee he told me he isn't working in East Dulwich area any more but his brother is and passed on his details. I arranged a visit and waited in on the day, but no show and no response to my text. He was probably having a bad day but it's so annoying when people don't turn up or make contact.

No trains from East Dulwich over Bank Holiday Weekend
von replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Or Peckham Rye Station for the 3 days Saturday through Monday. Originally thought it was only going to be Sunday that Peckham was closed. Can't find any precise information on TFL website, except by using journey planner for those 3 days.... -
Does anyone know if the Natwest in Camberwell has a machine which allows large volume coin deposits, ie a loading tray that one pours all the coins into? I had a look in the Peckham branch but the machine seemed to consist of just a slot type machine, was impossible to speak anyone there as so busy. Ive tried customer services but can't seem to get a clear answer! In the past the cashiers would have a kind of weighing machine to speed things up but they don't appear to exist anymore.

""Robert Goodwill, road safety minister, has confirmed that cyclists are permitted to ride on the pavement, as long as they do so considerately, according to an article on the road.cc website." The road safety minister is an idiot. It assumes that most people riding on pavements will indeed be "considerate" of pedestrians. We know that unfortunately a percentage of the population do not fit into that category, instead having a sense of entitlement to do whatever they want. The OP was knocked over in EastDulwich Road, I have also found it to be an increasing problem with bikes sometimes speeding past on the pavement. A few weeks ago about 4 teenage boys from Harris Academy decided to have a race on bikes along the pavement, travelling at high speed and narrowly missing myself and other pedestrians which included parents with toddlers etc. It was so dangerous I emailed the school but have not even had an acknowledgement. And if one is unfortunate to be hurt by a cyclist there will be absolutely no comeback on them, as unless someone takes a photo at the time there is absolutely no way of identifying the rider if they decide to speed off as happened to the OP.

Hi, does anyone know of anything going on locally (ish) tonight or tomorrow (Friday 3rd March)? Many thanks.

Anyone else lost their supply? The automated helpline says they are doing leak detection work for up to an hour.

There are many specialist soundproofing firms around these days, also providing outside fencing solutions. Although it is completely unfair that you would have to foot the bill yourself, it may be that this could be a solution for you as it is affecting your life to this degree. I would strongly suggest using a specialist firm though, as diy attempts may prove unsuccessful unless you really know what you are doing, especially as you are dealing with "impact" noise. Here is a link to just one of the uk firms that come up on a google search, I wish you luck, let us know how you get on. http://soundproofyourhome.com/barriers-and-fencing/

Mehmet put up a new fence for me last week, looks very good. He's a lovely guy to have around, works hard, answers texts and enquiries promptly and is also very punctual. Also gave me advice about what to plant! Highly recommended if you need any gardening work done.

I would just like to ask everyone who has a garden or some outside space if you would consider putting a bird bath out for our feathered friends! In these city areas they really need it, and you will probably be surprised by how many birds will use it. You don't need to spend more than a couple of quid, any wide shallow dish would do the trick, a large plant pot base is fine. Keep it filled summer and winter, sit back and enjoy the free entertainment.

I have had Andy and Richard help me with jobs a few times over the last couple of years and highly recommend them. Andy managed to find time last week at short notice to come and fit 2 sets of curtains for me, I cant do it myself as the windows are about 10ft high! He wouldn't even take payment cos he said it only took him a short time! Really nice guys and very helpful, nothing seems to be too much trouble.

I had Andy and Richard (Andyman) do some jobs for me last week, which included the removal of a lot of ivy - up to a very high roof; hanging a cupboard and fitting air vents into my boiler cupboard. They are reliable, professional and friendly guys, and their prices are very fair. Very pleased with their work and will have them back again to do the next lot of jobs! Their number is 07564 194363.

I'm hoping there might be a TV engineer who can shed some light on my problem. My provider is Virgin; phone, broadband and TV. I have a the V+hd box. A few months back the TV started playing up. When first switched on the sound is fine but the picture comes and goes. It flickers on and off for about half an hour or so then settles down to normal. When this started back in August I first called Virgin's technical help; the operator told me he could test it over the phone lines and informed me there was a problem with the box. They sent an engineer who confirmed this and replaced the box. It worked fine for an hour after he left, then the problem started again. Virgin then sent a second engineer who fiddled about with it and told me it was not the box but that my TV was at fault, that the hd connector was probably damaged and I should buy a new TV. I asked why the first guy hadn't said that and he just shrugged. He removed the hd connector and used scart leads to connect it all. There was no improvement and he left insisting that it is the tv at fault. As I can't really afford to buy a new tv at the moment I am not sure what to do. In my experience with Virgin over the years it's not uncommon to be told different things by different engineers! Also I have found that if I switch on the telly during the afternoon it often works perfectly. If it is a problem with the TV wouldn't it flicker continuously and never settle? Grateful for any ideas.

If anyone knows of this lady in the East Dulwich area please reply to me via private message, as I am in receipt of pre-ordered train tickets. They have been posted out to the wrong address, and I will contact the train company to see if I can find her correct address and forward them on to her.
