  1. To answer a few issues.... Firstly, to Manda. I can only apologise that you feel you have had a poor response from my team. If you would like to get in touch to discuss issues then please do so. Secondly, there are laws that relate to the Construction and Use of motorcycles and if such bikes have been "modified" and such modifications are illegal the we can deal with any offences that may arise. On the note of the constant riding up and down. This can be classed as Anti-Social Behaviour and there are things we can do about it. For example, once we identify the riders, there are powers under Section 59 Police Reform Act 2002 which basically states that even if the bikes/cars are totally road legal and the driver has all the correct documents but they are being used in an anti-social manner then we can issue warnings on drivers and specific vehicles. After the warning, which the law states must be issued should the ASB continue once more then we have a power under the act to seize them. Whilst we are the SNT and as such, we don't have access to vehicles, we can request help from our colleagues in the Traffic department to assist us in dealing with this issue. They are opnly too happy to come over!! Please do get in touch and I can assure you that we can help. On a final note. If we as the local SNT are not told about problems then we cannot do anything about them. Please let us know about any issues that are affecting your community. I have no issues in anyone contacting me directly. Please email me, Sgt Mark Hurst at [email protected] I look forward to hearing from you.
  2. Road markings idea.... I have no idea!! As for the sign's, I will make a call and get back to you.
  3. This stretch of road is still a "one way street" for both vehicles and cycles despite the road markings. Until such time as the relevant signs go up it will remain this way. To that end, cyclists should NOT ride against the flow. It was only the other day that we ended up "helping" a cyclist from a spill and they had a very nice ride to Kings College Hospital courtesy of the London Ambulance Service!! Wait for the signs to appear before you use it....
  4. Thanks for all the replies. To answer those so far.... Cate - The base is not a "police station" however we do have the ability to hold small meetings here with members of the public. The reporting of crimes and general enquiries should be taken to the nearest designated police station, Peckham, East Dulwich and so on. The Artful Dogger - I'll leave that one down to you!! Peckham Rose - Eileen's links are perfect for what you are looking for. Bellerophon - I like that one however not just yet!! SMBJones - Drop me a line through our email address and I will gladly have a meeting with you to discuss Peckham Rye Station Nero - This has obviously been a long running issue and I share your frustrations. A long time ago however, parking enforcement was taken away from the police so we no longer have the powers to deal with this. Responsibility for parking has been given to councils who employ parking wardens. I have though, spoken to the council and been assured that they are deploying parking wardens to the location. I will keep an eye on this but apparently vehilces are permitted to load/unload within a specified time. Louisa - As you will see from above I will arrange a meeting with the station manager and see what can be done. Again, if there are specific issues that you can think of then please let me know direct so that I can at least get an answer for you. Eileen - Thanks for posting the links. Friends of DKH - Sgt Stewart Turnbull. Please also bear in mind that the link you posted for the local SNT's is out of date (some by a long way). To find your local SNT, that are kept up to date, visit the Met Police website and click on the Safer Neighbourhoods link then enter your postcode. Eileen - Done!! I think I have answered most if not all the questions. If there is more then please post away. Thanks once again for reading and I look forward to this idea taking off!! Kind Regards, Mark
  5. At the rear of Lidl's car park. There are a total of three SNT's based here however it is worthy of note that our base isn't actually a designated police station and therefore does not have a "front counter".
  6. Hello all, I have been keeping an eye on the forum for some time now and as communication appears to be improving between the police and public, I still feel that there is more that can be done. This is the reason I have decided to register here. I am the Sergeant responsible for "The Lane" ward and whilst I appreciate that we are not in East Dulwich, our ward borders East Dulwich Road and Peckham Rye. It seems that quite often users of this forum come across onto my ward. If there are any issues you have then maybe I can help.... Please feel free to get in touch through the forum however I cannot disucss ongoing cases in the public domain but I am more than happy to be contacted through here or else I can be contacted through our email address at [email protected] Thanks for your time, Mark Hurst PS 25MD The Lane SNT Bellenden Road SNT Base SE15
