  1. Sammy is still missing - been gone a week now - and my gut feeling is he has been shut in somewhere or is injured and that he could be somewhere very nearby. Please can everyone - especially people who live near us Crystal Palace Road SE22 9ER (near Actress back garden bordering North Cross Road and Ulverscroft Road check their gardens, sheds, lock ups, hedges, behind bins) . Desperate to find him. Thank you - 07958961396
  2. Hi - our lovely 14-year old male cat Sammy has been missing since Thursday 6 July from our home in Crystal Palace Road. (just along from the Actress pub, same side of road as pub - our back garden borders onto Ulverscroft Road just near North Cross Road. He is completely black, siamese mix, quite big in size, not wearing a collar. He is microchipped He is a very vocal cat, has a loud voice and always greets us with a loud miaow whenever entering a room. He has been in good health. He is very unadventurous and gets anxious even if shut outside our front door by mistake for a minute - always makes himself known - so it is completely out of character for him to disappear. He has never spent a night away in the whole 14 years since we've had him so I'm now very worried about him. Please can you check sheds, gardens, behind bins etc and call me, Tess or message me on 07958961396 if you think you've seen him. Many thanks - some pix of Sammy attached
  3. Hi Am looking to get quotes for cost and fitting of internal crittall doors Has anyone had this done / any recommendations of where to source/ who to use? Want to put them in the currently open doorway space between kitchen and living room which measures roughly 223cm H X 104cm W pic attached of kind of thing I think Plus Rooms, whose vans and signs i see around here a lot have fitted quite a few Any recommendations would be great thanks
  4. Hi The floorboards in our living room and hallway are not in great shape - lots of gaps between boards, a couple of broken ones, various holes - and same with skirting board. They are also a golden colour which I have never really liked. Want a more ashy colour. (pix attached of existing floor with sample of colour wanted laid on top) Our flooring definitely needs either a) fixing up / filling / skirting boards fixed and colour changing via sanding / staining or b) lay new wooden flooring over existing flooring - may be smarter and in long run best and most satisfactory option I'm looking for advice / and a professional who can quote for the work and carry out. We also need doors putting in between an open space in living room and kitchen - but flooring needs to be sorted before doors can be done I'm assuming. All helpful advice and any useful contact numbers / recommendations appreciated. Many thanks
  5. Passing on my praise for local life coach Jo Sheasby who is based in Forest Hill. I bid for a life coach session with Jo pre-lockdown on a bit of a whim during a school fundraising Promise Auction. The two hours spent with her was a revelation and surpassed all my expectations (I wasn't sure quite what to expect if I'm being honest) She managed to bring such clarity and focus to some of the issues that I've either been procrastinating about on the work front or have been worried about tackling and also identified other things I didn't realise were troubling me but which have clearly been past stumbling blocks. All in all such a positive and helpful experience. I left with renewed enthusiasm and some achievable goals in place. Highly recommend. [email protected] www.josheasbycoaching.com
  6. I highly recommend Andy - he did 3 hours of work for me and went round the house fixing and sorting all the niggling things that i haven't had the time or competence to complete properly - my list included fixing a broken lock, securing a cupboard door that had broken off its hinges, filling a skirting board and flooboard area, fixing and filing down a door that has never closed properly. He was excellent - friendly, prompt, tidy and efficient I would defintitely use him again
  7. Hi - I want to open the fireplace that has been boxed in for years in a bedroom. Not sure what I'll find behind it. Guessing I need a builder to do it but it shouldn't be a big job. Pix attached - depending on what's behind it - will either leave as is and tidy up, replace fireplace or might remove and tidy up to form alcove space with no fireplace but just a surround/mantlepiece if anyone has any advice / or can recommend someone to do the work or pix to show what they've done in similar sitautions that would be great. Thanks
  8. Thank you everyone for help and tips. Very helpful and appreciated. I will get on the case. I learnt myself by going to a drop-in place on charing cross road when i was in my 20s where everyone sat around with headphones going at their own pace with keyboards that were completely blank, no letters or symbols. it seemed to work pretty well!
  9. Hi all - I'd like my 12-year-old to learn to touch type during the coming half term and would like any recommendations - ideally would like intensive course over the space of a few consecutive days. Any local courses to SE22? Or any teachers? Anyone got any feedback or tips? I know there are various online programmes you can use but think actually having a teacher might be best route rather than me trying to oversee the process at home. Thanks
  10. hi - have an epson XP 605 printer that's packed up. have been through manual to try and sort but failed so far. can anyone recommend someone who can fix local to SE22? thanks 07958961396
  11. Hi. ..I've got a child who is dyslexic (although it's fairly mild - they're not on the SEN register ) and I'll be applying for secondary schools in October. I wanted to hear from parents with dyslexic children about local state secondary schools - which ones are more geared up for dyslexic children / how do I find out / positive experiences / any helpful feedback or advice when making applications. It's a bit of a minefield and I don't know where to begin. We live in SE22. Am sure there will have been threads about this in past so feel free to shove me in right direction. Thanks
  12. hi - can anyone recommend a party wall surveyor. We are planning side return extension. Also helpful to know for those who have gone through the same building process how you approached it - did you use a party wall surveyor? Looking for general advice. Thanks
  13. Thanks for all the advice and helpful websites. Sadly I decided to pay the fine as it seemed I had little chance of winning. And the lesson is ....don't wait for someone to move out of a space. Keep moving at all times.
  14. Hi there, I'm a freelance writer looking for women (ideally between the ages of 25 and 35) for a new weekly column in Closer magazine which gives money saving advice and tips. You will need to talk about your spending habits, give a breakdown of your average monthly expenses, your earnings and provide a headshot picture of yourself. A money saving expert from the Money Advice Service then gives feedback and tips on how you could be making savings and offers general advice which will appear in the magazine alongside the mini-interview with you. The interview will take 15 minutes on the phone. I need to find willing volunteers as soon as possible. If you're interested or know someone who might be please direct message me or you can call on 07958961396. Thank you!
