  1. Now that the Soup Dragon seems to have gone and it did feel a bit sad to walk by it today and see the empty display shelves, the bare leaving that doesn't get forgotten, i had the thought that since there is a growing jewish community in east dulwich and nunhead, why not rent the shop and turn it into a synagogue and jewish center. we dont necessarily need a rabbi, not at first. We could begin with, just gather and work procedure out as we go along. If this sounds like a good idea, let me know. Shalom, Mark.
  2. I was wondering f anyone has norticed the recent arrival of prostitutes to east dulwich, mainly on the street corners of Barry road and tyrell road and barry road and northcross road. i have seen several young girls, all with recently washed hair and cut up jeans, sitting and leaning on brick wealls, smoking the occasional cigarette, offering sex to anyt single man that happens to walk past them. ithappened to me, but becausae i was married and faitful and loving to my wife, i said no, but i could have saids yes. was wondering if anyone else out there had seen these prostitutes and been propositioned like me.
  3. Sly needs a part time job, two days a week ideally , to fund money for road trip to Brighton with Reggie. Preferable employment in a shop without a career structure or too much ambition, as Sly needs to concentrate on his poetry for the next Sly and Reggie album. Serious offers only. Peace, Sly.
  4. Further to all your comments about me and Reggie being under dub house arrest, I had a mild vision of all of you lining the pavements of lordship lane, called to the afternoon prayer of dub, not concerned with the state of your teeth (although I do recommend the dentist near the dry cleaners, the man's an artist,) or with the latest shoes in Pied whatshername shop or wondering whether its right to buy a copy of Big Issue from the rosy faced east european woman outside the CoOp, and instead is brought together by being together above our needs for things, above even our needs for our own families, taking joy as a real community, our community, east dulwich where we are all for one and one for all. Shalom.
  5. our music expression is under house arrest but we can move around lordship lane as long as we dont plug in our sound system....
  6. not allowed to take truck out to make music in case we upset the cup cake and aerobics brigade on goose green
  7. Hello forumites, mark arram, otherwise known as Sly of Sly and Reggie here, the only roving reggae broadcasting sound system to operate in your local neighbourhood. I am, frankly, a bit miffed by not being allowed to conduct myself as your local sound system preacher on the May festivities coming soon on Goose Green. We are under house arrest by the local authorities, not allowed to express ourselves as Sly and Reggie on this May day festival. I find this appalling and not much different from the China artist Wu Wei who was imprisoned for self expression but we are not living in China are we, but oh so chic East Dulwich which appears to have a very conservative streak that is more in keeping with Bromley than East Dulwich....we may have cafe culture but we are no collection of bohemians in an artistic paradise...I suggest an alternative festival, a fringe festival if you like where left field artists like myself and Reggie can gather at a suitable and secret location provide a lovely evening of entertainment for gallant troops of people who are fed up with the cup cake banality of the goose green fair....
  8. Sly and Reggie are looking for sympathetic like minded suburban warriors to join their movement, become middle class warriors, like them and come see them live....come dance on their stage, they are that cool...
  9. I'd like to start a writers club only for poets, that is not novelists or short story writers There's the east dulwich writers group for that. I started that years ago and now I want to start meeting regularly with local poets to criticize and share work, could meet in our homes or pubs but homes quieter.
  10. I was shopping coming out of Somerfield when I heard them. Maybe they're looking for a carnival to join?
  11. best fish n chips is the chippy run by the gentle portly man and his wan but attractive looking wife just up from that dodgy looking therapy centre.
  12. I feel very scared walking along northcross road mostly getting scared by the sitting drinkers outside the blue mountain.
