  1. Single white captains bed. It looks like this one in the picture but without the drawers. Comes with a single mattress that has only been used a few times. Sorry it is dismantled already so I can't give you a picture of the actual bed. But it is ready to go. Has all the parts, inc a replacement bolt. Mattress is from Ikea.
  2. Hi all, I am looking to get an old wooden glass fronted book shelf restored. It's had some water damage and needs a pane of glass replacing. Id like to bring this back to life. Do you know a good furniture restorer that you have used that might do work like this? Thanks in advance
  3. Nope - we had a bike that had two sturdy locks on it stolen. The people who lived opposite the bike store said they did think they’d heard an angle grinder at 4am 😳
  4. Hi, Can I recommend Jeremiah for window cleaning. He cleaned our windows this weekend and, because of the way our house is set out, they are not at all easy to reach. He did a great job and is very reasonable. His company is called Shiney Shine Cleaning and he can be reached on ‭+44 7947 389406‬ Thanks
  5. Can I thank everyone for their comments and suggestions on this thread. My apologies for not replying earlier - work pressure. My house is not even close to well insulated. As one thread poster suggested, the ground floor boards are just laid over joists with no insulation beneath. The loft has minimum insulation and the external walls are not insulated at all. It feels like this is the right place to start and a no regrets place to invest. I am still very much interested in installing this tech and will be keeping an eye on both ground source and air source pumps become more energy efficient, while I work on the insulation. I think the new Government scheme may encourage more investment in this sector. It really feels like moving from fossil fuel is the way to go, but maybe that's in incremental steps for me. I'd really like this thread to keep going as the science develops, so all new thoughts and views would be great to hear. Thanks
  6. thanks Cidolphus. I was really interested in getting some of the other view. Thank you.
  7. Hi I am looking at possibly changing our mains gas boiler and interested in getting a heat pump (either air or ground) I wondered whether anyone on the forum had already installed a heat pump at their house and might be able to share some do's and don'ts? Is it hard to do? Was there a lot of insulation steps you had to go thorough? Does it provide a reliable source of heat and hot water? Thanks Thursday
  8. Hi, I am thinking of taking up Yoga, which I have never tried before. I'd like to get a bit fitter, take a bit better care of myself and overcome the impact of covid-inactivity. Can anyone recommend a programme for a real beginner? Happy to do in studio or online. Thanks Thursday
  9. Hi, I am looking for an architect to help us by designing a new way to use the back of our house. We've never used one before so are looking for recommendations for ones that you might have used. In particular, we are looking for someone used to working with older properties that can open up their design and use. Thanks, Thursday
  10. HI, I'm looking for a lawyer that can provide advice on probate with a bit of a complicated property aspect. Does anyone have recommendations for someone that you have used? Thanks Thursday
  11. Sorry, it has gone now. thanks for asking though
  12. Gone now: Hi, I have an Xbox Games Console that I no longer need and wanted to see if someone would find it useful. I know the stuff for sale thread is closed, understandably, but I thought this might be helpful if someone is struggling to keep their children occupied in isolation. If it's useful to you, please drop me a PM. Comes with games. Thanks.
  13. Hi, I posted a while back to say that my MGB had been stolen. Through the forum, I have spoken to other people who have had their car stolen, and found that there have been a number of classic cars stolen in the area in recent months. This includes one where there has been excellent CCTV footage of the theft (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/11/07/brazen-thieves-steal-classic-car-broad-daylight-using-car-push/) If you have had a car stolen, and you would like to link your car up with the rest of us, for the Police to follow up, can you please drop me a PM? Thanks Emma PS - Moderator, I know this is, technically, a lost and found subject, but can we keep it in the general section, so people see it, just for a bit? Thank you
  14. Hi all My MGB Roadster was stolen from the top section of Upland Road, East Dulwich earlier this month. It has been reported to the Police and flagged with DVLA and MG Owners club. In the desperate hope that she is still in the area, I am posting this here in case anyone will have seen her. If you have, please do drop me a PM Thanks very much, Emma
  15. That?s really annoying. Same thing happened to both our Minis on upland road - twice. We?ve resorted to etching the car reg onto the covers and to glueing them on. Not had them stolen since. You can proberbly buy them back on e-bay!
