  1. Just heard a horror story about someone having the loft done by classic lofts - 5 years later transpires they may not have got planning permission (despite it stating this is part of their service) http://classicloftslondon.co.uk/services/ Obviously a second hand story but not the first time I have heard of bad things from this outfit.
  2. I am a 40 year old female. I have short hair and generally am a bit of a Tom boy. Never had long hair, rarely wear make up etc. I usually go to bokki's salon in herne hill but am down to my last pennies and need hair cut for an interview tomorrow. Why is it that jazz barbers (77 lordship lane) charge ?15 for a men's cut but ?35 for women's? Dulwich barbers (134 Lordship Lane) flat out refused to even cut it... I don't personally like the term "feminism" or "sexist" because I believe in equality. No sex is better or deserves different treatment.... Any ideas on why then in 2017, in what I normally proudly describe as a forward thinking suburb, are we treating women like this???
  3. I love East Dulwich! Ipad returned safe and sound. What a special neighborhood we live in :-)
  4. Hi, I'm looking for someone to do a few hours cleaning for me this Friday...is anyone available? If so perhaps you could call me on 07962 348 560 to discuss. Thanks so much, Ce
  5. So I was in the library today and got told off for taking a photo (yup just one, without flash) in the library. Now considering, as dulwich residents, we sort of co-own the books, and last I heard it wasn't illegal to film public property...anyone got any ideas on why this would be an issue?
  6. Warning! I paid ?100 for a "Deep Clean Service" with Domestic Clean London (0203 475 8340)and received terrible service. Perhaps my own fault for paying on the doorstep before seeing inside the house (I went out whilst the cleaners were in situ), however, after being 1.5 hours late, they didn't even make the bed! See photos of the post-deep clean! www.domesticcleanlondon.com Be warned!!
  7. If you want a decent drink in a lovely environment with uber friendly bar staff I'd recommend you get down to The Lordship (formerly the mag/patch). Lovely wine, decent (though a little pricey food), and amazing bar snacks (sticky ribs, chicken wings, scotch eggs etc)... Oh I'm pleased to welcome back another decent proprietor...the Patch's sheer rudeness made me weep. Make the effort to walk a bit further down the strip...
  8. Hi, what's the position with the cat? Are you still looking for a home? Ce
  9. Gutted for you andycam - I've had several bikes stolen and it's miserable. Console yourself with the fact that the perpitrator was, is, and will be a scumbag. You're worth more than that - buy new ones and move on. Happy karma to you. :-)
  10. Fishfoot - you sound like a virgin living in a flatshare resorting to post-it notes rather than actually having a conversation with said "staffie' owners. OMG!! someone with a dog is in the park after dark!! Not very "middle class" is it?!?!? Note - who cares?!?!?
  11. Check out Dulwich Paragon. They do a Saturday ride leaving from Crystal Palace with I think you'd enjoy...
  12. Hi James, I live on Silvester Road next-door but one to the sorting office and have just had a loft conversion. I used a great builder, Michael Piludu ([email protected]/07956 528 763) who did all that you've listed above bar carpeting. His prices were extremely competitive and he's also thrown in a few changes that I requested half way through the project at very little extra cost. The architect that I used got some huge things wrong which I only realised at the last minute when building control wouldn't sign off the work (which had already commenced). It could have been a huge stress but Michael and his team just presented me with new options and dealt with the problems really well. I'm so pleased with the work that they've done I'll definitely be using them for a rear extension when I've saved some cash. Stop by at any time if you'd like a nosey, I'm number 53! Ce
  13. Hi Administrator, I've just seen this thread and was wondering why businesses must be registered in ED to promote themselves here. I have a masseause visit me each weekend (she travels from Battersea but gives me an amazing massage at a great price). I get my food delivered from Occado because it makes sense to me to get it delivered and not traipse down to the high street. What is the purpose of the forum? A communist "lets just shop/support our local area just because that's what we do", or is it about connecting residents and sharing tips on how we can and do find services in London? If it's the former would I be banned from asking about RAC versus AA? This all seems very petty to me. I am blessed to have the money to live in ED, however I personally want to mix with the best people for the job, not just those with enough cash to live in the area. With the utmost respect, I do take exception to the elitist stance you appear to be taking. Look forward to hearing your thoughts though. Ce
  14. Hey Bellmar, I feel your pain! I'm in the middle of a roof conversion at the moment and it was such a headache getting to grips with all of the dots that needed to be joined before starting the project. I called around the usual suspects (Classic Lofts, South London Lofts, A1 etc) though they all came with a kind of "one size fits all" solution. I've therefore gone with Urban Space (Michael Piludu, 07956 528 763/0208 670 2911) who've been awesome. They are competitively priced, have been brilliant at encouraging me to design the space that works best for me (special cubby holes to fit my favourite antiques, positioning of the doors so I can easily wheel my bike through the house etc). The project is moving really quickly...I'll definately re-use when I have a rear extension next year!) PM me if you have any queries, alternatively please feel free to swing by to see the work in progress. I live on Silvester Road next to the sorting office. Good luck! Ce
