  1. Hi, Our B/W long hair (overweight) moggy, Lolo, has gone missing from our house on Peckham Rye/Somerton Rd. She is a lovely inquisitive friendly cat, but very timid and she will be very scared. No doubt, she's hiding in the area and refusing to come when called - or even find her way back yet. She went missing last night Monday 11 July 2016. I know that's not long in missing cat terms but it is unusual for her to not have stayed near the house, at least in the front garden. Could you please check your gardens, sheds, etc if you live in the area, especially around somerton rd, peckham rye (nunhead side) solomons passage and around. But I'm not ruling out the ED side of the rye so please if you don't mind keep an eye out. Pic and flyer attached. if you see her or find her please could you call her very worried owners on 07821 336734. Thank you so much. Justin
  2. Hi. I need a local reliable cat sitter (Peckham Rye) with refs for next Thursday to Sunday. Any suggestions forum? Thanks. JK
  3. ..and it is b*mp as in b*mper!
  4. I'm having this issue. I was unaware of any blocked spam words...is there a list somewhere? I'll go check out 'bump' but I'm not sure I've used it.
  5. I'm doing some research for a project and just on the off chance wondered if any of you had a copy of this: The Drovers' Roads of Wales Book Two: Pembrokeshire and the South by Shirley Toulson & Caroline Forbes Random I know but EDF is just the sort of weird place where no doubt someone does have a copy... Could you let me know if you do and if you wouldn't mind me borrowing it for a couple of days? Many thanks. JK
  6. I just got back from Bloc where Jerry Dammers played a three hour afternoon set of joyful, uplifting reggae and ska to the gathered throng. There's nothing like reggae for lifting the mood, and bringing out the sun. There were smiles all round at that Mother's Day party! BTW: MistyBlue is the most depressing name I have seen on this forum.
  7. You know how that doesn't always work out, when you hire a decorator and wish you'd done it yourself? Well this guy just did a brilliant job on my house, interior and exterior - on his own AND in all weathers - really quickly and more importantly really reasonably as well. His name is Robbie Glen. He lives locally. Seems to cover all SE London areas (and some beyond from what I gather). He has over 30 years experience, which includes residential and commercial. He doesn't have a computer which is why I'm posting this testimonial for him on EDF. Great guy. Great work. You won't be let down. (Just don't get him started on the topic of Northern Soul - he'll have you checking some moves before you know it!) Contact: Robbie Glen 07428 463157 [email protected] (but mobile is preferable - see comment above!) Thanks for listening. P.S. Obvs he doesn't know me as krishner! So say Justin recommended you!
  8. Yesterday I needed a reliable, efficient, friendly and reasonable odd job man to sort out some rubbish from my cellar. A few people responded - thank you for your own recommendations - but I went with Lee as his pitch was the best and he sounded very friendly on the phone. So, he came today, charged me such a reasonable price that I even added on a bit more for the excellent work done. Fast, friendly, efficient - I more than recommend him, certainly for the clearance work he did for me, but I wouldn't hesitate in calling him again for any of what seems like a myriad of jobs he is willing to undertake. Lee's email is: [email protected] Thx Lee. JK
  9. Thanks. I now have had a few responses that I'm going to chase up. Fingers crossed.
  10. Loz, I agree. They certainly do throttle users, and not necessarily hevay users. Get them to admit it though. Its like a pre-programmed mantra coming out of a stepford wife when you ask them - 'no sir, we are not throttling your broadband renge kyo....' What I don't understand - and if anyone could enlighten me as VM certainly can't - is how come my neighbour upstairs on VM bband also (60mb) doesn't have a problem? surely we share the same cable that goes to the same exchange?
  11. No they don't - its a good point. I asked if they were throttling me, but they were adamant that they weren't. Besides, I'm not a heavy user. (define 'heavy use' of course!) I even asked if they were throttling other users, but again with the denials... In the meantime, I have decided that its more hassle than its worth to shop around and be disappointed by another company, so I've told them I'll stick with them BUT PLEASE HURRY AND FIX THE ISSUE!! To which they responded with 10 quid off a month until March 2014 (or until its fixed). I'm sure if anyone else is experiencing this issue, and if we all ask for a tenner off until March then they'll fix it sooner rather than later.
  12. Is anyone else experiencing a sudden drop off in VM Bband strength? I was getting 62mb until last night, and now its 7mb. (Peckham Rye/Somerton Rd area) I asked them what was going on and they said heavy usage. That's fine but heavy usage doesn't just 'start', it increases over time...unless an office building just got erected without me noticing. (It better not be The Patch.) I mentioned this and they replied that there was a need for a cable upgrade at the exchange (which I think is in Brixton - nst?) which wouldn't be until March 2014! It was a recent fault - two days old - and that was why no one knew much about it. Especially the customers of course. I also mentioned that maybe they should tell people. They can't apparently because they don't know who will be affected. Check your bband strength. (google 'speedtest' - press begin test button etc) Holy Moly! So I suggested that they cancel my contract and that I would go and find another supplier. (Bluff) You know what they said? They said, OK. (I know! Bluff called!) Not a peep. Not an argument. Not an utterance of legalese. Total capitulation. Something's up - I think we should know. I'm going to take a long lie down and recover... Can anyone recommend a good Bband/tv/phone package? - shame, i liked being with VM.
  13. @Steveo: it did occur to me that it could be a new fashion status. A Flava Flav/Beastie Boys mash up...probably worth getting my hubcaps nicked just to see swaggering yoof danglin outsize discs around their necks. P.S. what car have you got? I might pop by and accessorize...
  14. My VW Golf parked on Friern Rd, nr Underhill has had its hubcaps stolen from the rear wheels. This is the second time that the hubcaps have been taken, which makes me think that the perpetrator lives locally. Is there a big market in hubcaps? Annoying. Don't suppose anyone saw anything?
  15. Hey Junad1997 - Bus drivers across London are mostly nice people. Now and again you get someone who is a little..um..tense. Bear in mind they have to drive across London in terrible traffic receiving abuse from some passengers, dealing with troops of combat school children twice daily, having myriad arguments with people who drive 'chelsea tractors' (I know that they have arguments with drivers of other cars too, but hey, I hate people with unnecessarily big cars, so sue me!); there are fair dodgers, drunks, drug addicts, women with prams (can't wait for the response to that grouping - bring it on). All of this for 12 hours a day, and probably at very little compensation in relative terms. They can be cranky, but other people who do less for the city and less for themselves can be equally as cranky. Its no excuse, they shouldn't have treated you in a way that you found to be less than polite. Next time, just show your pass, smile and walk on by...growling, muttering bus drivers is wot makes this country grate! (And that's one for all you syntax nazis out there - you know who you are....) ;)
  16. Yeah. When the [police] station is closed - funny how poeple misread what you had quite clearly written, still they look like muppets now - there is a telephone outside that direct dials to MetCentral where they deal (slowly) with your issue. Obviously its hard to hold a phone when you're in the middle of being mugged, but hold on in there..:D
  17. What a fantastic thread! Whoever does the advertising for Tango is missing a trick here. This things going viral....keep it up ffolkes!
  18. Thx all. Roof was always going to be fixed - not the issue. Access is strange fish I guess - just didn't want my opium fields discovered...
