You might be interested in my listing on the Thames Water Approved Plumbers website under Southwark and also on the website of the Chartered Institute of Plumbers and Heating Engineers www.ciphe.org.uk. On their homepage click on 'Find a Plumber' and put your postcode in. I will probably come up among others, though I live in SE5. You can also find tradespersons on a 'Builders Award Scheme' compiled by Southwark Trading Standards. This can be found on Southwark Councils website. They do CRB checks and take up several references before putting people on this list.

My suggestion, is that in the first instance, you get some steps and in soft pencil trace around the perimiter of the stain. Then observe over whatever period of time it takes to determine whether the stain is getting bigger or not. If you go outside the property are there any pipes running down the outside of the wall that might be affecting this area? One way of telling whether they are functioning correctly might be to turn the basin or bath tap on, leaving the plugs out, and go outside and observe whether there are any obvious leaks or untoward happenings that might be causing penentrating damp. Clazza I have a feeling your e mail address is a British Airways specific address, and as I am very much inclined to think that the planes come from all manner of airlines, I think it would be much much better to complain to Heathrow air traffic control.

I live on Champion Hill and have done for 9 years now. Air traffic noise has not been a problem here for the first of my eight years but since August 2007, I have noticed it as being a more or less continuous problem from about 6.00 am to 11.00 pm, which I find extremely unpleasant, so much so that I have begun to think about moving. It is my intention to complain to Heathrow and I suggest that anyone else who is concerned about this does too.
