Where to buy disposable swim nappies?
Knomester replied to Knomester's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks Princess. I ended up walking up to Sainsburys. All set for tomorrow's swimming trip now! -
Does anyone know where I can buy disposable swimming nappies on Lordship Lane or nearby without having to trek up to Sainsburys? Thanks!

looking in starting a group for french speaking mums

Moi aussi je suis libre jeudi prochain - 15h30 me convient ou plutot! -
Hi Moos. We swaddled Baby Knomester too as he had a really strong moro reflex and woke himself up constantly. We swaddled night and day, but he shunned the daytime swaddle himself at around 9 weeks after we'd gone through the process of one arm out then both arms out (how a baby so small can 'tell' us things is beyond me, but he made it pretty clear he didn't want his daytime swaddle anymore!). For the nightime we kept it much longer than recommended because he still seemed to need the swaddle to help him sleep, but started leaving one arm out from around 15 weeks. We finaly took the plunge the 2nd night in his big cot because we couldn't keep him in place in the swaddle so had to rescue him several times from random parts of his cot that first night! So we had to go cold turkey - grobag with rolled up towel on each side and thin sheet tucked firmly in to keep him in place - and have never looked back. I think it's because we waited until his moro reflex had subsided that it worked - he was about 17-18 weeks. I guess it helps that he loves sucking his fingers so he likes having his hands free. If you're really struggling could it perhaps be a touch too soon? If Twosling's moro reflex is anything like Baby Knomester's you might want to wait a little longer? We tried the miracle swaddle but it was too small (it doesn't account for longer babies in it's 14 week estimate) and next time I'd definitely try one of the cocoon swaddles quickdrownfox mentions, for ease of swaddle if nothing else because Baby Knomester was a nightmare to keep still long enough to swaddle!

What is it really like after having a baby
Knomester replied to Fuschia's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Great idea Sillywoman! I'd love to be able to help anyone who is a little daunted about OH going back to work and being home alone with their lovely new (and possibly screaming) baby by bringing cake and a smiley face! Just shout if you are in need as there is always a ready supply of cake coming out of my kitchen and if someone else doesn't start eating it soon I am never going to shift this baby weight...!! -

I'd love to join you too with baby Knomester who is nearly 5 months old if you are still meeting up? Thanks -
This is my recipe Fuschia: http://thegingergourmand.blogspot.com/2010/01/banana-walnut-cake.html You can leave the walnuts out or substitute for pecans or even chocolate chunks (dark works best) if you like. It's a really moist loaf cake.

I'm just about to head up to town shopping with Baby Knomester and he'll be needing a feed as soon as we arrive at Charing Cross. Does anyone, by qny chance, know if there's a cafe or similar where I can feed comfortably???? Also going to be in and around Covent Garden for a feed or two. Again, any recommendations on where to go? Thanks ever so much (right, I'm back off to packing buggy and change bag with military precision...!).

My little one who is 19 weeks started rolling from his back onto his front recently (but has so far only rolled back again once!). Over the past couple of days he has started being sick when he's lay on his tummy having just rolled over - especially this morning when he was sick 3 or 4 times (each with a separate roll). It's only a bit but, as he's not otherwise a sicky baby, I just wondered if this happened with anyone else's babies? Thanks
-
Thank you all for the invaluable advice. We tried him in the Ikea one at a friend's house yesterday and it was OK but I think we'd like the flexibility of the trip trap (so long as it fits our dining table - must measure up!).

As far as I know there isn't a child version is there? The one I have says suitable for all ages... I bought it at the Day Lewis chemist on Forest Hill Road.

Great idea, particularly if one person didn't need to book the 'cinema' but instead groups could form to fill the space (like the book club idea someone mentioned). At the moment what would suit me best would be weekday afternoon screenings if it would be possible to get a group of parents together who could bring their babies along (like the scream screenings at Brixton / Greenwich). If I didn't have Baby Knomester to look after I'd certainly consider it for a private party for Mr Knomester's birthday on a weekend afternoon or evening for example.

Was last night any better? Hope so...
-
Poor you.... We have those sorts of nights every so often. Totally out of character and (thankfully) usually seem to just be the odd night or two before Baby GG gets back into his normal pattern. I put them down to growth or developmental changes because (apart from one on Boxing Day night when it was illness) there never seems to be another reason. Try not to worry and hopefully it'll pass and baby will be back on form soon... (Happy New Year!)

Happy New Year!

Thank you all. A few different options there for me to have a look at... Realise now that I need to decide when we will use the high chair, what for (just mealtimes or more) and for how long. So much to think about for every little thing!!
-
We're looking to buy a highchair for Baby Knomester - he doesn't need it just yet, but thought there may be some reductions in the sales. I'd be really grateful for any views on what we should be looking for... Stand alone v one that attaches to a chair, with a tray v one that pushes right up to the table, things to look out for, etc, etc Thanks :-)

Oh Fuschia I'm so sorry to hear that your new baby has a tongue tie, and that there's such a wait. I would have to say from our experience though that it will be worth every penny getting it done privately if you can get it done quickly. We had quite a delay (not because of the clinic but because noone diagnosed the tongue tie earlier) and it led to untold problems (aside from the time and hassle that you are currently experiencing). I do hope you can afford to pay privately.

Great news Moos :-) Do keep up the massage as they can grow back so quickly as Baby Knomesters started to do.

Swaddling - when and how long for
Knomester replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I reswaddle before night feeds so I don't need to unsettle Baby Knomester after the feed.
