Hello! My daughter is having her 4th birthday party at the end of this month and I have just discovered that the venue does not supply children sized tables and chairs! Does anyone know of anyone, anywhere that I can get hold of some to seat around 30 children? Many thanks!

Take a look at Surrey Docks Farm. I have been there a few times with my daughter and she loves looking at and feeding all the animals. I was there a few weeks ago and there was a children's party - there was a large buffet and music, balloons etc - the children certainly sounded like they were having a fantastic time! I am thinking of having my daughter's next birthday there....

Hi All, I am in the process of setting up a local childcare business called Dulwich Childcare which focuses on providing local families with local, qualified and experienced babysitters and childcarers. I really struggled to find a reliable babysitter, last minute and after school childcare and having recently given up my job in City, I have decided to set up my own local business offering all these. I am hoping to 'launch' in the next few weeks so I will definitely keep you all posted with all the details and hopefully look forward to providing you with my childcare services! Watch this space!!

I know this is the EDF and not the Sydenham Forum but looking through general threads about people moving out of ED, there seemed a few Sydenhamites had responded, so hence this note! Our growing family needs a bigger house and we cannot afford to up-size in ED. We have found a house in Sydenham that we are considering putting in an offer, but doing a little research first! It looks like there are improvement plans for Sydenham and was hoping some locals could share any inside knowledge! ;-) It has been awarded money from Mary Portas scheme and there is development around the roundabout at the top. Is there any more details available about this and what is coming? Is there a sense of community in Sydenham? Sorry to ask - but what is crime like? Do you feel safe in the winter evenings walking home from the station? Any comments on the area gratefully received!!

I had a look at the link you sent for the French nursery and it looks like a parent and toddler group rather than an actual nursery unfortunately. Does anyone know of any others in and around SE area for French/Spanish speakers? Any help greatly appreciated!!

Hi to both on previous thread, I am keen to enrol my daughter into Gumboots - can you give me an idea of the process you went through? I have dropped passed the nursery on a few occasions before Christmas and over the last week or so to ask, and I keep getting very vague responses with no confirmed open day to look around! Did you experience the same thing? I look forward to hearing from you, Paula

I am currently in the process of talking to a number of nurseries in the area following my reading this thread. I am looking to organise some viewings which have been pretty straightforward apart from TM Nurseries! I understand that they are not open until March, but whenever I contact them to arrange a convenient time to look at the place when they are open - they keep instructing me to give them a cheque for ?50 to register a place! It is starting to put me off to be honest. They keep saying that places are filling up - which I appreciate - but at the same time - I am sure they can appreciate that I do not feel comfortable registering my child to a nursery I have not seen!

Does anyone know what will be replacing the pub at the top of North Cross Rd? It has been closed and gutted. Would be good to have another quality pub in the area!
