  1. I have recently had Patryk redo my back garden patio and lay new grass. He is really good with communication is very friendly and helpful. He did a great job and I therefore asked for him to do significantly more work than planned and (most unlike me) did not ask for a quote first and was very relieved when I got the invoice, which was very reasonable. The patio looks lovely and the grass is really vibrant. I would not hesistate to recommend him.
  2. I would also like to recommend Dave Franklin and his team at Berdec Decorators. They have decorated my house and done other bits and pieces like tiling and plastering over the past few months and I am very happy with the jobs they've done. They fitted me in at short notice and worked quickly and tidily. They were very reasonably priced compared to other quotes and kept to the price, plus he also did quite a few other bits and pieces and did not charge for them. When there was the odd problem, Dave was quick to apologise and sort it out and they have been back several times to deal with small things left over. I would not hesistate to use them again.
  3. Many thanks to everyone who has PMd me - I will be sorting it out in the next few weeks.
  4. Hi Gillian, Please can I have details of your cleaner. thank you in advance Best wishes Tessa
  5. My current favourite is toastED in terms of consistently good food and service. I have been to Artusi twice and think it is overrated - both times the starter was good but the main disappointing. Franklins is consistently good food and service. Palmerstons is also good. The Crooked Well used to be my favourite (I used to go frequently) but had one mediocre meal there and friends who used to go all the time and regularly used to spend hundreds of pounds there once forgot to pay for one beer and they went running after them for it! So I haven't been back for over a year now. I've only been to angels and gypsies once or twice quite a few years ago but remember it being good. My favourites before living here were the Anchor and Hope and Great Queen St so I am v keen to try the Camberwell arms.
  6. Thank you again to you all for your messages of support - much appreciated.
  7. Thank you all very much for your kind words and for the advice about where to get an attack alarm. I was lucky to get away with only minimal facial bruises (where he was grabbing my face), thank you for asking :)
  8. Just to warn everyone, I (female, 30s) was walking home from ED station just after midnight on Thursday and outside my house (between the gate and front door) someone grabbed me from behind. I managed to scream then he gripped my neck so tightly that I could not scream and said something like if I did not keep quiet I would die tonight. I was struggling and somehow managed to scream again and fortunately he ran off. By the time I got indoors my neighbours had come down and called the police, who came promptly and recorded the story (one remembers so little - I did not see the attacker at all as he was behind and remembered few details) and they took my scarf and DNA samples from my neck. Luckily the attacker did not take anything - he must have got scared (the neighbours said my scream was blood-curdling). The police said there was a very similar attack nearby a few hours beforehand and the woman had broken her own window to get her husbands attention. I am lucky as my two immediate neighbours (who I know) came down to see what was happening but no one else did. So ironically, it is fortunate that it was outside my door as if it had been somewhere else probably no one would have got involved. Plus I suppose i am lucky that he was quite inept - probably an opportunist - and did not have a weapon. I am going to get an attack alarm - I think we should all carry them these days in the evenings- at least it may help to scare attackers off, even if, sadly in this day and age, bystanders tend to nonchlently ignore them.
  9. I find it extremely difficult to find a parking space near my house (near East Dulwich Station / top end of lordship lane), especially during the daytimes. I really hope they will make the area a controlled parking zone (residents' parking) soon.
