Magical adventure garden in the community
alicinha replied to kateland's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There is a garden in Forest Hill, which pretty much has the things you're mentioning in this thread. Have a look at their website: http://devonshireroad.blogspot.com/ -
I also have been taking my 9 months old baby to swimming class and the water is fine, not cold, not too warm (like Peckham Pulse). But there is a problem: the changing rooms are FREEZING and after swimming is a big old rush to get baby warm and dressed before you get a chance to get yourself warm and dressed as well.

A bit of a random one... Does anyone knows where I can find Dylon around ED? Been to a few shops but no one seems to know where I can get it from.

My baby girl had a bleeding gum (only for a day) around the same time as yours, her first tooth came out at 6 months and 1 week. I remember calling my paediatrician worried about it and she said its normal and that does not necessarily means the tooth would come out straight away. Dito!

Bacteria and other harmful micro organisms are everywhere, really. SOLUTION: SMA 1L ready to use cartoons from now on! Expensive but she only has 3 bottles a day now.

What do you do when you're out with baby? Do you always give ready made formula cartons or you mix it with pre boiled water brought from home?

Thank God another "bad" mother like me! I totally agree with the boiling water in the middle of the night x the RARE bacteria thing. My husband's good friend is a paediatrician and have told me a lot of facts about advice on feeding are based only on the fact the government do not want to be bothered with the odd potential problem. In his own words: 'I read a lot of medial journals on a daily basis and can guarantee there is a lot of exaggeration on feeding guidelines produced by the health authority.' We haven't discussed this water issue specifically and I feel bad contacting him just to ask this question, but will do on first opportunity. The fact is, we end up feeling very guilty about doing otherwise, there's the reason for my post. I suppose I need reassurance on my personal decisions, so thank you.

Hello! Quick question for mums out there. My baby is 7 months old now and I was wondering if I can switch her recent cooled boiled water to either bottled water or reserved boiled tap water to prepare her formula. There is a lot of text on the net about not giving bottled water for babies, but I know for a fact that the rest of Europe and in the US they say bottled water low in sodium is ok for babies. Anyway... I just think its time to skip the process of boiling/cooling water for each formula feed. What do you do?

Swaddling - when and how long for
alicinha replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My baby girl is 6 months old and I'm still swaddling her. I was worried about 'restricting her' but I was assured by my paediatrician that swaddling was fine up until 8 months old. Actually, the Baby whisperer book (Tracy Hogg)also recommends swaddling babies up until 6 to 8 months. -
Thank you! Thank you! Thank You! :))

THANK YOU all for your messages. Really helps a very worried mum! I will try to relax a little and not feel constantly like I'm losing a battle with my gorgeous baby. x x x

Dear Tara, Thank you so much for your reply, it made me cry like a baby (I'm having one of those days!). I've already stop going to HV to check her weight, as you said, it was making me very depressed. Your story gives me hope! Thank you again x

Hi All, Just need a few words of advice/experience from you. My 6 months old baby girl have been diagnosed with reflux at 3 weeks old, since then its been a constant fight to feed her. GP and Pediatrician seem to agree she has a slow weight gain, but the only thing they suggested so far is to thicken her milk. She still can?t take much and I?m starting to get very worried as I?ve started weaning a couple of weeks ago and it hasn?t gone down really well. She is 6 months old and her weight is 13.7 pounds (6.2 Kg). Any of you had such a small baby? Any high calorie food advice? Thank you!

Mustela cream helped a lot but you can't find it in the UK. Actually, I love Mustela, they have great products for babies with Eczema too. You can get Mustela all over Europe and in the US, maybe you can get it from the net to deliver in the UK. http://www.mustelausa.com/stelaker.html

Thank you all!!! -
Hi Gussy, My daughter is 4 months old, also with reflux, and is seeing Dr. Martha Ford-Adams at Kings. She is very good and my daughter is much better now that she is on medication (omeprazole 10mg). I'm seeing her via NHS but she told me, she also can see patients privately. The number for her secretary on the NHS is: 020 3299 3560 (ask if she deals with her private appointments or if she can give you the contact for her private secretary). Good Luck!
