  1. Eat regularly and sleep as much as you can. I'd like to say this got me through it, but only the fact i had no choice got me through it. I had a packet of choc biscuits next to the bed (and still carry them everywhere) and had to eat before I did anything else. I learnt the hard way by wretching my way to work and throwing up in my car at traffic lights. My stomach turned at the strangest things - washing up water (thank you husband for taking that on), the smell of my car when i first got into it, vegetables (i had a very healthy diet before this) and pretty much lived for 18 weeks on mashed potato, cheese and strawberry milkshake (which now turns my stomach. Simple pizza also seemed to stay down, but could only eat tiny amounts of anything, regularly. It really was a case of feed the nausea.
  2. I live pretty close to it, and used to call it my local in earlier times. Liked the old boozer style, and the bright yellow exterior. Liked the sunday roasts, and the quiz night with a huge bowl of sausage and chips thrown in. Liked, even more, the early morning British Lions games (midweek and weekend) with free cup of coffee and toast for the midweek game regulars. I find it sad that it gone so far downhill - was hopeful when it turned into the magnolia and the landlords were trying out a range of different beverages to find out what the locals wanted on tap. It's like a ghost town now and I've only been in about twice in the last year, purely out of convenience.
  3. Unfortunately I'm working nights on the 6th so won't be able to come along. I'm 22 weeks and only just showing (blimey, it's suddenly appeared and so much bigger at the end of the day!). Having up and down days and finding the whole pregnancy thing a bit freaky.
  4. Hi - new to this thread too. I'm expecting my first in early October and am VERY anxious. Didn't want to join the thread until after my 20 week scan, which i'm pleased to say was fine. Now in the throes of reality!! For life of me can't remember what I'm working on the 6th, but if I'm able to, would love to come if you have any room for a shy one!
  5. The cardiology team is wonderful at the Evelina. Owen is a star and incredibly supportive and approachable - you are in safe hands aliewells
  6. Dodo1 - there are two car parks opposite STH that are ?12 for all day - I often recommend parents to use them, rather than the hospital car park, as much better value for money, and the car parks are fully supervised. They are under the railway bridges, on upper marsh.
  7. I had a run in with a relatively new neighbour over this issue. They are chosing to use their front garden as a driveway (which is fair enough), but if people parked in front of their house (when car was not in the drive/garden), they would leave notes on the car window, or in my case, come out and confront me and ask me to move. Out of courtesy, I wouldn't park there generally, but i would've had to park in a different road and when I could see a perfectly good space two houses down from mine, I didn't see why I should. It all got a bit silly and over emotional on my part, if I'm honest, but I'm pleased I spoke up as i've not seen any notes on cars since. They had applied to have a dropped kerb, but the council declined due to it being a major bus route (or something).
  8. I'm registered there - trying to be diplomatic, I opt to see the female GP rather than the male one. I found her incredibly helpful over the last couple of years. The practice nurse is fine, offer some decent services. Booking appointments.... if you don't mind who you see then you can get an appt fairly promptly, if you are specific it can take a week. Having said that, i've had some same day appts by getting cancellation appts.
  9. I think it's important to remember that the press are not printing facts about this case, and have been going by statements from relatives (which may be affected by stress, supposition, exaggeration etc), not the parents. And they are being paid considerably for their stories.
  10. Maternity wear suitable for tall/short people - I'm 6'2 and finding it a complete nightmare at the moment. Or if they are not kept in stock, access to ordering in.
  11. I tend to agree with Sophie on this. It is a knee jerk reaction, and the press have not been reporting the correct facts in this case. I did have to laugh at a tv interview with a neighbour who reported seeing 25 foxes standing in the road one night. Admittedly, I must admit that with regards to the family having the door open in winter, then I'm not sure that doing a fox check would be top of my list of safety concerns.
  12. Hey PeckhamRose - sorry, didn't see your message! Had a lovely time, altho must admit we didn't really do that much. I did however discover that hot chocolate can be enhanced by many different spirits - even jagermeister! Did you go to the Delirium bars, PR? Quite staggering!
  13. Great timing for this thread as I'm off to Brussels friday afternoon, returning sunday. We get there just in time for the inaugural christmas market parade on friday night. Was debating taking a train to Brugge on sat, but may just play that by ear (beer). Thread now printed out with all your wonderful ideas. Thanks!
  14. I miss Noodels at the camberwell junction. That typo kept me entertained for years, until someone changed it to Noodles, one sign at a time over a year. When giving people directions to my flat, I'd always give them Noodels as a landmark. Noodels should be said in the same way as Rydel High (of Grease fame) for example. Gutted.
  15. If you go to the national rail website you can put your journey in their season ticket calculator. You can get tickets for just the journey you want. Looks like just over ?60 a month. http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/seasonticket/tickets
  16. I'm at 306, and whilst I'm registered with Dr Dewji, I see Dr Chowdhury - the female GP mentioned above. I've found her efficient and supportive. Like all GP's she is quick during her consultations but I've always got what i wanted from her. As for appointment times - it varys. If you don't mind who you see you can get an appointment fairly quickly, but if you are specific then i find 1-2 weeks normal. Mind you, i have been able to get cancellation appointments when I've been desperate to see Dr C quickly.
  17. Hi Caroline Brockwell Lido is part of Fusion but as it has the Lido it charges a bit more than normal Fusion prices. You can use all fusion facilities if you are a member of Brockwell, but you cannot use the Lido for free if you are just a fusion member. I joined the Lido purely for that reason, but used most of the facilites in ED/Peckham instead out of season.
  18. Are any Christian groups not homophobic in their doctrines?! The Salvation Army is a church.
