I think it's one way of reducing parking spaces available for pupils / teachers without there being the same criticism as if these were replaced by residents or yellow lines

Humdinger: that's the worst sort of subjective nihilism. Of course it's an eyesore - objectively. If you really want to add your mark to the environment then find some wasteland somewhere.

I heard confirmation of this from a garage too yesterday. Not sure there is much you can do except to call the police. Or challenge dodgy-looking characters if you're feeling brave.

This thread is a source of education: I had not previously heard of Frank Furedi. According to Wikipedia, he lives in Faversham so maybe he's on his holidays.

Near us: Camberwell, Catford, E&C, Penge, Stockwell, Thornton Heath and not forgetting 3 in Purley and another in Croydon
So much chicken! I've never eaten KFC and not about to start now

1,963 sq ft is not that "huge" when compared to the houses around Underhill, Marmora Rd etc, particularly because there is probably a limited ability to extend in any direction. It's just the street and a chance to be in a proper Georgian / early Victorian house.

As a developer once said to me, they're not making any more land around here. Once developed, Green Dale and Dog Kennel Hill feel completely different. Just as now it's hard to imagine DKH without the enormous Sainsbury's and car park.

Slightly off-topic but I noticed a number of recent sizeable trees felled on on the outer path in Dulwich Park when I was running round at the weekend.

I don't think it matters how it was taken. Question is: has anyone seen it?

thanks, seems like Fiat calls it "smooth mint" https://blog.swanswaygarages.com/what-are-the-colour-options-for-the-fiat-500
I am becoming resigned to having to sort this myself...

Thank you Mahoody. In fact, I have been very careful not to make any accusations, simply seeking any witnesses. Which coach companies do the school run?
I have previously seen coaches (and indeed other vehicles) on Townley Road scrape parked vehicles.
And no, my car was nowhere near the islands. It?s simply caused by Townley Road taking more traffic, and bigger vehicles, than it can cope with.

Thanks all. There may well be a coach with paint from my car on it. I think it would be on the front near side (i.e. kerb side). Or possibly it wasn't a Clarkes coach. I've attached a photo. If not Clarkes then I'd appreciate any other suggestions of commercial vehicles - there are not many cars that colour!

Clarkes says none of its coaches was serving Alleyns, JAGS or DC last week. If anyone believes otherwise then please let me know.
Thanks

Wonder if the Estate is responding with rent rises to try to counter falling valuations driven by higher yields. Obviously doesn't work but you might try if you thought it was under-rented

I don't think I've ever had a black cab refuse to bring me to ED. Most of them spend the whole journey talking about how hard it is to make a living now Uber's around and how pleased they are to have a decent fare where they won't spend the whole trip stuck in traffic.
-
My car was parked on Townley Road and now has an expensive scrape, a dent and a generous splash of paint the same colour as a Clarkes coach. Probably happened on Wednesday or Thursday.
If anyone saw it happen then please send me a private message.
Thanks

I stumbled upon this article recently. A little historical perspective is always helpful.

Noisy morning today. Woken by planes at 6am as soon as they went back to one every 45 seconds. There was not a moment when the sky wasn't rumbling, as the noise from one hadn't stopped before the next one came in. I've lived next to busy roads and railway lines and they were less intrusive.
-
one of the arguments that the developers made last time was that Camberwell and southern Southwark have much more green space than other areas and so wouldn't miss this piece of encroachment
-
I'm pretty cynical about development in general and the Estate in particular. But these proposals look pretty good to me, at least on a quick look. Street retail needs to respond to online competition.

I think keeping the main front entrance is worth it. The rest, not so compelling

@ Abe - do you have a link to these pre-application meetings?
