  1. When we went back we weren't able to find it, so haven't been able to take it to the vet to get it scanned. It has lost a lot of fur from it's hind quarters and along it's back and is very skinny. I'll keep checking back to see if I can spot it again.
  2. We saw a small black, little bit fluffy cat on the corner of Landcroft and Pellatt road shortly after Christmas. It was very friendly and jumped on to my knee when I bent down to pet it. We've just seen it again now and it's lost a lot of weight and fur. It looks like it's struggling with its back legs as well. We tried knocking on doors nearby but no one was in. We were very worried about it so have taken it to the vet to scan for microchip. If anyone knows anything about the cat or its owners please let me know. Thanks - I'll upload a pic later
  3. You could try the below - quoted from this site: https://www.londonwildlifeprotection.org/found-an-animal/ Before calling us please: Ensure bird/animal is moved out of danger Place bird in a closed and ventilated cardboard box(make lots of holes) Place tissues under the bird to help soak any droppings Put bird/animal in a safe place at room temperature Place a bowl of water for bird/animal to drink to prevent dehydration Do not feed pigeons meat/dairy products Do not squirt water into the mouths of birds or animals; it will make them ill and may kill them Then Call LWP on 07909 795064 In the past we've take birds to this rescue (see below) - more details on their website http://www.savethepigeons.org/sickbirds.html 8 Vermont Road Sutton Surrey SM1 3EQ
  4. Just back from searching as well. Did Green Dale, Sunray Gardens and back round to Village way again. I wondered about the school grounds but thought they might be hard to access with broken front leg. Not sure though. If she's still missing on Tuesday could phone schools and ask to check. There's often someone there even in holidays. There where posters on the lampposts along the walk I did.
  5. I had a look around Dulwich village and Village Way at 5. I think there was a sighting again on Village Way and Green Dale today.
  6. Spotted on East Dulwich Grove (between Red post hill and Half moon lane) this morning at 7.20 - leg in a bit of a bad state. Very frightened. I've phoned Zelda and given her the details
  7. I've phoned the person from the lost section and given her the details
  8. There was a dog - with badly injured front leg on the bit of East Dulwich Grove between Half Moon Lane and the turn off to Dulwich Village. Last seen at 7.20. I was cycling on my way to work when I spotted him/her. I stopped and tried to approach but it kept running away. When I phoned a friend to help I lost sight of it. I spent about 15mins cycling up and down trying to find it but had no luck. I'll try to phone the RSPCA in my break this morning. The dog ginger/red colour, quite large and long legged. It's front leg is badly injured, and it can't walk on it. It is very thin and frightened. I'll look again on my way home. I think I must have frightened it more and it went to hide in someone's garden while I was calling someone to help.
  9. Have you tried the bus garage? Lost something similar on bus and went on hunt to find it to all local garages. Eventually worked out the right one - GoAhead based in Camberwell (it was 185 as well). The guys there were amazing. It was past 8pm at night, they let us in and radioed all the drivers - one of them found the missing item and when they where passing the garage 15mins later dropped it off. Good luck - hope you manage to track it down.
  10. Rushing in from the car today (December 9) I managed to drop what is a lot of money for me. I know it's a long shot but was hoping the person who picked it up might see this notice. Thanks K
  11. Hi James I appreciate that you were responding to a genuine concern. But original post seemed an emotive appeal and I couldn't see any facts or studies quoted to back up their statement (also there may be some that support the view that crows cause issues for other species of birds but we also don't know this is happening on the Rye), I found the OP use of terms such as "preditory" and "cunning" worrying. My response (above) was primarily to the OP & the statement: "I am convinced a ruthless culling program should be initiated." I am concerned about certain species being categorised as "preditory" and "cunning". I found this a very worrying suggestion. I think it's a good idea to talk to the RSPB who I hope will echo what I said about the legality of a cull. I also think it might be a good idea to talk to London Wildlife Trust - although this isn't an area they manage my experience of them is that they have a very good understanding of how to support the natural environment. I work with them as part of one of jobs and will ask to see what they advise - they might have suggestions about ways of supporting other species of birds.
  12. Re killing crows As far as I'm aware killing any wildbird is illegal, unless you have a licence. This doesn't have to be applied for but certain conditions need to be met. Mainly the bird (or animal) must be causing serious damage to your livestock or diseased and a threat to your livestock/crops https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/wild-birds-licence-to-take-or-kill-to-prevent-damage-or-disease Outside of the legality environmentally to justify anything like you are suggesting you'd need to do some sort of study to prove what you're saying is true and that the actions you're suggesting work in the long term. Examples of taking action like this dont seem to work out very well and I think it's better to let the ecosystem rebalance itself. Also I love the cunning crows on the Rye.
  13. I didn't notice that they're both the same figures - does it state anywhere that it's a joint figure? Sorry I should have checked first (post in haste = repent in leisure!) Bic Basher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The figure quoted on the NHS Choices site for DMC > are for both surgeries in Crystal Palace Road and > Chadwick Road.
  14. Also @DMC it's not just a current situation - it might be slightly worse now but for the past few years I've been regaling friends with tales from DMC - it's comedy gold (or pure farce). For eg waiting over a year to get referred to have a lump investigated - despite requesting it every time I saw a dr - and the hospital saying it needed looking at. My favourite one at the moment is your claim to have none of my hospital notes since 2013 so are unable to discuss my condition properly after I've queued up outside & taken the day off work to get a Drs appointment and then telling me you can't prescribe my pain relief medication without direction from my consultant (who incidentally is happy for me to be treated symptomatically for pain). Then when I say fine I'll give up the pain relief but can I get support from a pain clinic you change your mind and are happy to prescribe it - presumably because it's less costly. The amount of frustration I've had with your practice over the past few years has made living with a long term chronic condition a nightmare. GPs might be underfunded but you have wasted loads of money on my care along just from general incompetency. I've had wonderful care from one GP - Dr Prabhakaran - who I worry will burn out as she works so hard within an otherwise broken system. But it's impossible to see her and trying to manage a long term condition when you're only able to see locum after locum is hopeless.
  15. Fuschia Wrote: I wonder how many patients there are to each DMC gp There are 10,564 patients registered at the Crystal Palace Road practice according to this website - http://www.nhs.uk/Service-Search/GP/SE220EQ/Results/4/-0.0704028904438019/51.4513816833496/4/0?distance=25 Although I'm not sure if this figure was before or after people started to be removed from their list. At a guess I'd say there are usually 3 or 4 GPs working when I go in for an appointment - although this is just based on a vague memory of how many room colours come up when patients are called and might be completely wrong. Interesting info here on DMC survey results but only 100+ surveys returned it's not a very good sample size for 10,000+ patients - https://gp-patient.co.uk/practices/G85651
  16. This happened to me as well Mscrawthew and I think few others on here too. I thought at first DMC were trying to get rid of me as I have chronic condition but now I've heard it has happen to more I wonder if it is a software malfunction.
  17. We've had a cat just disappear and it's very painful waiting and hoping they'll come home and not knowing & I lost my little cat (long illness, not car accident) last year so I think this added to the feeling I couldn't leave him there. But it wasn't a very thought through action - I have to be in work at 9am this morning & the earliest time I can find a vets open is 8.30am (Lordship Lane) If anyone knows one that opens earlier on a Saturday let me know. Otherwise it might have to be Sunday morning as I can't turn up late as it's a freelance shift.
  18. Have found a box and will take him home as not sure what else to do will take to vets tomorrow to see if microchiped and call council.
  19. There is a fluffy pale ginger cat who has been run over on Court lane I don't want to leave it as foxes were sniffing over body when I found it but am in bike so can't carry home. it looks middle aged and has big fluffy tail. It's near corner Eastland crescent under tree on left hand side of road if facing up towards lordship lane end. Have taken pic but won't upload so PM me if you think maybe yours so sorry to have to post this.
  20. I hope she's ok sounds dreadful it's such a tricky junction to cross. Buses are still currently being dinverted down Barry Rd. 185, 179, 40 not stopping at Plough. You can pick them up on first no.12 stop on Barry Rd. The 185 rejoined the usual route at Goose Green roundabout.

Hi Sue, I'm not sure if it's the same problem I had with a laptop dropping the connection. I moved over to BT about a year ago and was complaining to them about the fact the connection kept cutting out and wasn't as fast as talk talk. - They suggested trying the below which seemed to work on my daughter's PC laptop. So, BT said it could be the network adapter which has a power save option which means it drops the connection when it turns off to save power (the adapter not the computer). To change this you need to find the device manager on your computer and from there the network adaption settings. Here's links to how to find the device manager on various PC operating systems http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/f/finddevmngr.htm Once in the device manager you need to find "Network Adapters" and then "wireless network adapter". Once you're in the "wireless network adapter" menu click on the advanced tab & select "power save mode" You can then turn this off or change to the lowest setting. It's set like this to stop the computer overheating but as far as I can make out it isn't a necessity (although you might want to check this for your PC with a quick google) The default setting with new machines is often to have the "wireless network adapter" on and it can sometimes cause the connection to be dropped. Anyway this worked for us - good luck! If doesn't work you can always reset it to how it was before
  22. I?ve been using the forum for a few years and think it's a fantastic resource and I?m really grateful for it ? it?s also satisfies my need for local gossip and helps me feel connected to East Dulwich as a community (although I know it?s not the whole picture). But during this time think it?s got more and more ?cliquey? I think it?s harder for newcomers to join in debates/discussions and that a lot of people ? except the ?old-time? (sorry!) regulars - just use it for local information purposes ? buy/sell, find out about businesses etc. As groups/online communities develops the shared connects deepen and this can create something that becomes difficult for newcomers to participate in. Again ? this isn't a bad thing ? online communities are all to a certain extent cliques. But I think that there is a loss ? particularly if something is a place of local connection - if it?s hard for people to join in. There is also the potential that things will start to wither and become just a series of self-replicating thoughts/debate/discussions. 24. @BrandNewGuy I despair too you seem to have just selectively quoted my post and & misunderstood what I was saying - I wasn't talking about older people paying any charge - I was referring to Steveo's suggestion that he was glad that it was harder to access GP support - "I've wondered of late if there isn't a tacit agreement among surgeries to make getting appointments increasingly difficult so that people give up and go away. If there is, I kind of approve" - I agree with you & think using pharmacists instead of doctors is a great idea my point was my experience of doing this has been mixed at best. I've been to pharmacists with my dad and children - in nearly all but a couple of cases they weren't able to help and should have been as it wasn't a major issue that we were seeking help with. Maybe it's training or maybe each time it was just bad luck but it hasn't worked for me. - People on low income would be affected by the ?20 charge if it works as you suggest under the current criteria for free prescriptions - in order qualify for free prescriptions you have to get most of your income from benefits - there is some help for people on low income with prescriptions - I'm not entirely sure how this works but I think it has a low threshold. - & the reason I raised having a chronic condition was not because I thought this wouldn't qualify me for a exemption under your suggestions but because I was trying to illustrate how difficult this might be to define. - my main point was that I differ from you in the analysis of the problem - I don't think it's because people aren't thinking alternatives or because they want to see a GP and need to be taught a lesson by charging or some other punitive measure - but I think they do this because the services outside of this aren't that great and could be improved
