  1. Just a quick question- is the transport museum free for under 5's? Thinking of heading there tomorrow. Thanks..
  2. I'm a nanny so would be interested. Would it be ok for a 3yrs old or is it more for the younger ones?
  3. I work as a nanny looking after two young children. I love my job and the children I look after mean a lot to me. We do have fun together, play time, cuddle time and so on as well as times when I have to be strict and firm. There are times when I have the 18 months old in the push chair and the 3 year old wanting me to pull her scooter with her on it whilst pushing the buggy- hmmmm, just explaining that you cant do it to a 3 year old is like talking to the air because the only thing I get in return is a loud cry, I mean very loud and a dramatic tantrum as well as dirty looks from strangers giving you this "bad nanny look" without obviously knowing the reason/s why I have a screaming toddler by my side. The funny thing is that the moment we get into the house, she acts like nothing ever happened and goes off to play. It's very easy to judge people, I'm sure she is a good nanny but unfortunately you only see her when the child is playing up. The fact that you still see her around means her employers are obviously happy with her!! I really think you should mind your business and just hope/pray you find a good nanny..
  4. Hi all, Just wondering if I could get any advice at all on how tO ask my employer for a raise. I currently work as an after school nanny for a family looking after their almost four year old daughter. I have been happy with them and vice versa. My initial job role was to look after only their daughter after school but after about four months, they said I had to Start picking up their son from nursery, also give him dinner and look after both children until they returned home (7pm and no increase in wage). My contract is now coming to an end after eleven months of being with them and they have now said that they would love me to stay longer, I then told them I had to think about it as it hadn't crossed my mind that they would still want me to work for them. As much as I would love to work for them, I feel I should get an increase in wage but don't know know how to go about asking. I am on holiday next week so won't be seeing them until the 18th however, I have been asked to let them know what my decision is that means sending an email to let them know. I guess my question is- how do I ask? Is it a good idea or do I just look for something else an move on? Thanks..
