  1. .....and I always thought ED residents thought of themselves as the liberal intelligentsia. You know many of you would clearly be happy under a totalitarian regime - silence the media, silence the debate, we don't deem this appropriate for this forum, blah blah. There is a veritable witch hunt for the source of "the leak" now it would seem. Get the language - "leak", "mole" etc. My kids don't go to Goodrich but at their local state school you don't have to sign the official secrets act. However on the other hand the hypocrisy of the personal attacks on this thread really put the curtain twitchers of the 1950s to shame - really and have you noticed how people aren't so keen to red raddle their steps any more? You know what some of you should really try and relax - go shopping to the pretty shops on North Cross Road and prepare for your anti-Royal Wedding parties by buying some paper plates which you can serve your ironic fairy cakes on (no doubt many of you call these "cup cakes" but that's another issue altogether). Why on earth would anyone want this hushed up anyway? Many of you seem to imply or even directly state this would be an ideal state of affairs. I don't think silencing debate and the media has ever been proven as a particularly desirable situation, and whilst I am happy with the backward glance Orla Kiely makes to the 1950s I rather think that censorship of this nature would be a retro step too far.
  2. Is local councillor James Barber seriously suggesting this controversy should have been kept secret? From one of his earlier posts on another thread I see he had several times spoken to the head recently, and to a concerned parent. As a result I would not be surprised if he already knew about this row - involving the police, governors, and a Southwark council inquiry team - that led to an elected parent governor being suspended. So maybe it's alright for councillors to know about this, and police, and governors, and Southwark council staff. But not us, the little people, who pay the taxes that fund these sort of shenanigans. Can that really be right James?
  3. Lacon Road was closed with police tape at 10pm tonight, Saturday, and at least three patrol cars were present. An officer told me residents of a house had heard shots - and two 'casings' had been found, presumably from handgun bullets. Dogs were searching for more at the time. No-one hurt. But did anyone see or hear anything that could be connected? A mystery, and not what you want on your way to the shop...
