  1. Found a black iPod in my garden (?!). Might have been stolen and dumped. If you are missing one, get in touch. It has a cover phone with a sign (looks like it has been taken from a demonstration).
  2. That is try. A double spy called Edward Chapman was mostly responsible
  3. There is currently a planning permission with southwark to demolish a victorian house and replace it with a 3 storey building containing 3 flats on Hindmans road. Now of course not all will be effected by overlooking balconies, added cars for parking, removal of light etc, it would set precedent to destroy the victorian feel for development Opportunities. To add to insult, the company asking for planning is registered in the Cayman , so I am guessing not much tax on any profit will be paid. planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9568582
  4. To quote SL Architects : "No one wants to see all gardens removed, but there are multiple examples of large single storey summer houses and outbuildings in and around the area". How they are comparing a wooden shed, with no amenities and no one living it in (our wooden shed with garden stuff is one of the ?large single storey summer houses and outbuildings ?), to a property with two 2 bed flat in it. Most people living in East Dulwich moved here for the gardens, peace and quite and lovely neighbourhood. By setting a precedent that it is OK to build in gardens will ruin the reason we live here. The argument is not about the main building, but by squeezing in as much as possible (i.e. a further house in the current garden) purely for profit. Neither the architect nor the developer will live with the consequence?s of destroying the gardens and all that means for the residents who has invested time and money to make this street. They will just pocket the money and run.
  5. Has anyone had any sort of response from the council? None of my E-mails I sent over 24h ago has been responded to (sent to [email protected] and [email protected])and no one I speak to have any idea who to even speak to.
  6. Renata, I hope you have had more luck then I have. I have been passed around different departments when calling Southwark council. Been given 3 different E-mail addresses to send my enquiry to (one did not even exist). I have yet to have any response or even been given details on who can be of help. These must have been painted by mistake. If these are not removed soon, I will struggle as I have two small children and now can?t even stop outside my house
  7. Who was named in the end as the "best place to Live"?
  8. Edna. nearly "extinct" Irish name. Great if she is born in East Dulwich as well as you can call her Ed or Eddie.
  9. I meant the one corner North Cross Road, the old Police Station
  10. I noticed a 'For Sale' sign up with Knight Frank. They don't seem to have anything on their website yet. Will be very interesting to see what the asking price will be
  11. Where would be the best place in East Dulwich to view the laser show to mark the completion of the Shard tonight at 22:00? I know you can see it from Peckham Rye park but there must be a better place. Any suggestion?
  12. Although I do shop at Iceland, I would much more prefer an M&S. Lordship Lane is evolving (sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse), but that what makes living in East Dulwich so interesting.
  13. The Monarchy is like Christmas: It?d tacky, no one really remembers why we have it, but boy do I love it!
  14. I believe it happened in a flat on Hindmands Road towards Tyrell road. That is at least I heard the first day I moved in on Hindmans Road by a lady opposite that had lived her for 40 years.
