  1. Yep it's a tiny bathroom and the builders had located the mixer and pipes in a very tricky location behind a brick wall. Daniel has a wire camera thing which proved invaluable in finding leaks also.
  2. Hi all I would like to strongly recommend Deborah Warden who works at the Goose Green clinic and who also works at the Brixton Therapy Centre. I had a really bad neck, shoulders and back, so decided to give it a go. It was a completely transformative and rejuvenating experience. Straight after the hour the neck and back pains that had been plaguing me for a week just dissapeared, leaving me with a big smile on my face. I've had a number of massages but this really was completely different. Deborah is hugely knowledgeable about her craft, believes in it with good reason, and has amazing healing hands. Her number is 07834 767788. Post here with your experience! Mark
  3. Daniel is quite simply the best builder / handyman/ plumber I have ever had. He did not ask me to do this recommendation but I feel I must as it is the third time I have used him and each time he has solved long-standing problems and done a superb job. The first time he did a superb job grouting and replacing tiles in the shower. He also inserted a partition between the tiled kitchen floor and wooden living room floor. The second time he fixed an issue with the toilet and other little jobs in the flat. Last time, yesterday, he solved a pressure issue with the shower which had been a problem for years. The previous plumber could not find the problem. But this guy could! Very tricky work due to the tight space and positioning of the internal chamber lime scale had been blocking the mixer. The previous guy I used who got rave feedback on this site was unable to fix either the shower or the toilet issue, and he sold himself as a plumber, then insisted on good feedback, which I did as I thought I got a good deal since he said he was cheap. Daniel by comparison did not ask for feedback and has done incredible jobs, solving every problem I've had and adding a lot of value to my flat in the process. He is also very friendly, explains everything clearly, and is very reasonably priced. I am very happy to be a reference for Daniel and his company, and have no connection with him apart from being a customer. You can contact him on 07580 377 153. My mobile is 07584 671 103 if you need a reference. If you want a high quality job done from a great guy at a very good price, Daniel and his team are the ones! Thanks! Mark
  4. Just got gazumped by TruPennys
  5. Hi We have recently been gazumped by a buyer with Trupennys. The vendor of MYN Properties in East Dulwich: (http://www.mynproperties.com) accepted our offer, sent us the contract, told us we had 3 weeks to exchange contracts, and said that he would be taking the flat off with the other agents. I called Trupennys and the other agents and all said the flat was under offer with another agent (the estate agent we were using). 10 days later (on the same day we were about to send MYN's solicitors our contract with amendments), their solicitor told ours that MYN had exchanged contracts with someone else. This is after their solicitor had told us our offer had been accepted and he hadn't told us at any time that he had accepted someone else's offer. Is it legal to accept two offers at the same time without withdrawing the first offer? The owner of MYN Properties has done this with other people also causing them to lose thousands of pounds in solicitor's fees as well as time. Thanks & Regards Mark
  6. Hi I have a few jobs that need doing in my flat: Part of The shower area needs new mastic and a bit of grouting(I think that's the word). -A few of my cupboard doors need adjusting (I'm rubbish at that) -I have a long wooden divider thing to go between the tiles of the kitchen and the engineered wood floor. The problem is the gap is too narrow for the piece I bought, so need the engineered wooden floor (quite thick)cut so the piece can fit in? -I'm soon to receive a new rubber gasket thing to replace my existing freezer gasket that I need to be fitted - a light bulb transformer need replacing Can someone recommend a reasonably priced and good builder in the area who can do these things? Thanks Mark
  7. Hi, I want to hire a machine for a day to cut engineered wood (thick) so I can put down a divider between the wood and another marble type floor. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one to hire? Thanks, Mark

  9. I'd like to recommend Nathan. He came over a couple of nights ago as I had a problem with pressure to my shower, and a diverter issue. He solved both problems for a very reasonable fee. Also a very nice guy! Very happy with the results! Mark
  10. Hi all Thanks for the info! My boiler is an Ideal ISAR HE30. Can you give me an estimate for the cost of a new diverter valve and installing it, and is this something you could do? Mark
  11. I forgot to mention the main reason for this being an issue is because the pressure from the shower is really bad, so I was wondering if it might be related. The pressure from the tap just next to the shower is much stronger...
  12. Many thanks for the lengthy reply. I have a combination boiler. The radiators that get heated when the shower is turned on are both the big radiator downstairs and the towel rail upstairs (next to the shower). I remember when we bought the flat the big radiator downstairs wasn't installed, so they had to put one in. I guess it's possible they did a bodge job which meant water had to pass through it? Regards Mark
  13. I have a question for a plumber: When my shower is turned on, the radiator downstairs heats up. I presume therefore that water is passing through my radiators to get to my shower. Is this normal? I had a new kitchen installed a few years ago. Pressure has been bad last few years and I wonder if something was fiddled with then? Thanks! Mark

  15. Hi, I need a good handyman to put up 2 large wooden Venetian blinds, (120 x 170cm) ASAP. Plus a quote for shelves. Does anyone know someone really good? Thanks Mark
  16. My parents are desperate to get get a flat in London (poss East Dulwich) and have enough money to purchase a flat, but unfortunately ?65k of that money is tied up in a savings account and cannot be withdrawn under any circumstances until June 2014. Both parents have retired and so cannot get a mortgage. Does anyone have an idea for getting a reasonably good value loan of around 50k GBP? The lender could be guaranteed a proportion of the 65k GBP when it is up in June. Someone has suggested getting a loan for 5 years with an interest rate of around 6 or 7% (which seems very reasonable) and then paying it off early, but I think the early repayment charges may be very high. Also they would have to pay back a chunk of the capital each month which may be difficult before June 2014. Both parents have a spotless credit history, a home in Sussex, and a flat they rent out in Kensington. Any ideas or suggestions? Many thanks Mark
  17. Just wondering if anyone has noticed the large numbers of people gathering outside the Carlton Centre on Alpha Street/Choumert Road making huge amounts of noise (including music), or am I the only person who finds this extremely offensive and aggressive behaviour towards local residents?
