  1. Jah,

I have a home stuffed with records and CDs. And I have an mp3 player so I can listen to my music wherever I am. I don't see the contradiction.

    MM,

Have you seen the Kindle? I've heard good things about it.

Thanks, Tony - that's much clearer.

But, wait a minute - do you mean really, really "black" people? Not the people who are sort of "dark brown" or "mid brown" or "light brown" or... Like this:

And what about those "mixed race" people? Are they "Black" or "White"?

I thought you were asking about "Black people", Tony.

Not all "British people of Caribbean origin" are "Black". Some are "White", some are "Indian", "Chinese", "Arabic" and so on. Or a mixture.

Last time I went to the ballet, the overwhelming majority of the dancers were "White" - and they were very good dancers. Some seemed almost "born to dance".

    "Interesting"? Not really.

I've no interest in (or knowledge of) sports, theories about genetics or the skills of various "races" at running, jumping, swimming, drinking or dancing. I just thought I'd correct some basic errors in your post.

    Carry on...

Western? Every time I've flown to the West Indies, the 'plane has flown...west.

(Actually, many Caribbean islands - Jamaica, Trinidad, Haiti, Barbados, for example - have a higher population density than Germany, France, Italy, Spain and in some cases, the UK.)

In my opinion - yes, yes, yes and yes.

    Nice.

Or you could wander down to the office on Silvester Road and have a chat with the supervisor/manager in person.

  9. I've been trying to get through Shepperton Babylon: The Lost Worlds Of British Cinema by Matthew Sweet. I - like others, perhaps - was expecting a UK version of Kenneth Anger's two Hollywood Babylon books but it's somewhat less racy.

The recent Radio 4 dramatisation made me pull (Kathrine) Kressmann Taylor's novella Address Unknown it off the shelves to re-read. Chilling and thoroughly recommended.

I wish I had been given a balloon, a giraffe stirrer and a colouring book to distract me from the food and service.

Oh, I see: Sue and I must have been completely mistaken in our low opinions of Giraffe's food and service. I'd better go and withdraw that letter of complaint right away.
