  1. I'm in awe of your weight loss Ryedalema! I'm 38 weeks pregnant so have it all ahead of me but, like you, I'm struggling to see how I can fit any exercise at all into my day. When I go back to work I'll be up at 5.30am each morning, leave home at 7am. Drive to work dropping off my baby at nursery en route, take half an hour lunch break so I can then leave at 4pm to collect baby from nursery and pick up my 5 year old from school. Then my OH doesn't get home until around 7pm, by which time I'm exhausted! There is the potential for doing something at the weekends if my OH is supportive, which I think he will be. And I can accommodate exericse into my maternity leave. But the day is so back to back once I go back to work I don't think I can do it. And as the weekends are the only real quality time I spend with my babies I kind of begrudge giving that up.....but I think I'm gonna have to if I'm going to shift any of this baby weight! All I can say is I totally get where you're coming from.
  2. Au'lait - I'm so impressed! Fancy doing that all by yourself - you must be one strong lady! You give me hope that somehow I might get through my labour.....totally dreading it at the moment. Huge congratulations on your baby boy - I hope you've had a good couple of weeks with him.
  3. I too had a difficult first labour and had to spend a week on the post labour ward at Kings and my memories of it are not good. I'm now 36 weeks pregnant with my second and share your anxieties snowboarder. However, I have just spent several days on the post labour ward in Kings suffering from kidney infection/stones. It was as busy as I remember 4 years ago but it was much quieter and I overheard women who had just had their babies getting one to one help with breastfeeding. Every mother seemed to be offered it. The food was marginally better. And I would say that I felt I had more attention from the midwives than I did last time round - that isn't to say they weren't completely rushed off their feet, but it didn't seem quite so bad. The hospital also seemed cleaner. Good luck with everything.
  4. Cod in butter sauce - boil in the bag I'm afraid! Pasta with sacla sauce Cereal if I am too tired to cook and she won't eat pasta And she loves a good chinese or pizza!
  5. Glad I'm not the only one! I furtively sip it from the bottle at work.
  6. Congratulations jollybaby - I hope you are feeling ok and don't have to stay in hospital for too long. Welcome to the world Baby Beatrice :) Another beautiful name.
  7. This is amazing! I'm about to go on maternity leave so perfect timing! As and when I find out about other stuff going on I'd be very happy to add to this.
  8. I'd love to meet up again, but full time work plus evenings out, plus truly worryingly enormous tummy just don't seem to add up for me. I think I'll have to stick with the daytime get togethers! Have a lovely time though.
  9. Are the Jags lessons at weekends at all bawdy-nan?
  10. There's a function room at The Herne Tavern - they'll also cater if you need them to.
  11. I'm spending my last trimester in leggings with dresses over the top - if I get too hot I can always take the leggings off and pop them in my bag! Topshop has great for some cute maternity dresses.
  12. I cna't make the 7th or 8th but would love to come along next time!
  13. As long as you're not flying with Ryanair.
  14. This is a refreshing post - not that I'm pleased other people than me are having a hard time of it. Just relieved I'm not the only one not getting this parenting thing right all the time. I've got through the terrible two's......to hit the terrible three's and now we're in terrible four's. The naughty step just doesn't cut it any more. She's now hitting me and I simply don't know what to do about it. I don't know where the behaviour came from and I genuinely don't know how to react when she does it. I'm also struggling to stop other half being the good guy all the time and buying her 'treats' every 5 mins at the weekend which means she goes crazy. Am also pregnant with no. 2 who has decided I shouldn't sleep at night - and he's not even out yet! What have I let myself in for?!!!! I can't cope with one let alone two! And pregnancy is definitely leaving me far less capable of dealing with my little princess! veryseriousgirl - so know what you mean!
  15. My 4 year old daughter starts at Goodrich this September, but because she attends nursery close to my workplace, and none of her local friends happen to be going to Goodrich, she isn't going to know any of the other children. I wondered if any other new pupils were in this position and whether any other mum's might be interested in meeting up so our children can meet and be able to recognise a friendly face or two on their first day?
  16. Bishberro - your post made me laugh so much! You poor thing! I'm sure your dad was as mortified as you were! I'm also slightly terrified by the stories I've read. I had a 45 hour labour with my first - have conveninently forgotten most of it (helped by an epidural 36 hours in!). I'm firmly in the bury head in sand and deal with it when you get to it camp. Although I suppose I am reading this thread so that's not strictly true. Most of my friends work, which is the other complication - there aren't that many people who do nothing all day so to ask them to be on standby for me feels really selfish. But I don't have much of an alternative from the sound of it!
  17. This is enlightening - I was hoping to have time to call my brother and get him to bring my mum up to look after my daughter while I go in and have number 2. But the drive from their house to mine is 2 hours. So this could offer something of a problem if the labour is likely to be so quick and I don't have a plan B! Oh dear.
  18. Like everyone else - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
  19. I've been on holiday so only just saw your post pr. Brilliant news! Huge congratulations - you must be extremely relieved. My daughter is starting in September too - she goes to nursery near my work so doesn't know any other children who are going to Goodrich, so if you ever fancy meeting up with the kids then I'd love for her to get to know someone else who's going to be in the same year as her! No pressure though!
  20. I've got my little one down with Gumboots after school club but I'm really struggling with the morning arrangements. I'm trying to persuade my other half to do it but I'm also baffled as to why there isn't a breakfast club at Goodrich. I believe there's on at Heber. Does anyone know whether this idea has been discussed in the past and whether any progress is being made? Thanks
