  1. As a contrast, my husband called in at 8am this morning with a sty which we expected had turned in to a pretty nasty eye infection - he was offered an appointment at 2pm today, was given some strong antibiotics and is off to the eye hospital tomorrow for another check up. Pretty good service we think.

The NHS is struggling because so many people go to the doctors when they could go to the chemist/go to the hospital when they could go to the doctors etc.

I wouldn't say it's in meltdown, but what you have experienced isn't good enough, I agree.

  2. I wouldn't mind the luxury of baby no 2, but it seems my body has other ideas and my first child is 4 in the Summer. I guess whatever is meant to be is meant to be. While I don't think this thread means any harm and I appreciate it is a light hearted chat over an open forum it makes a hard read for people dreaming for just their first or second baby to come along.
  3. Personally I think only you know your child. I know my child is ready it doesn't really matter what some statistics say, not every child born in summer doesn't go on to succeed, you just have to do what feels right for you.

I knew I could defer for a year and stay on at nursery if we wanted to, just don't see it making any difference in the whole scheme of things (for my child).

My friends boy on the other hand just wouldn't cope so it is very much a personal choice based on a your child alone.

  4. We were there just over nine months and pulled our daughter out as soon as we could. Lots of little incidents followed by a fairly major one (in our opinion) feel free to pm if you like.

I definitely would not recommend and would totally agree that the management is not great and when my child attended there were numerous staffing issues.

Alarm bells rang for us too and we couldn't be happier with our decision to pull our child out, I got to the point where I really didn't feel comfortable leaving her in the building.

  5. As far as I am aware (and I do go to St Thomas More, child has just got in to St Anthony's Nursery) You can attend a different parish and still get in but your chances will be lower. In the same way your chances will be lower than say if you attend church buy only once a month as opposed to once a week.

I found Mrs Squires, who deals with the administration of the applications to be very helpful when corresponding over the phone and by email, she always replies to emails very quickly if you did have queries you would like answered more accurately.

  6. I wish I could click 'like' no 'live' your post Otta.

I am a mum to a 2.5 year old and so far I have succeeded in the no barbie dolls! She is very rarely in pink, as I am loathe to buy it. I hate the whole stereotype and she is pretty rounded so far.

Her favourite thing in the whold world at the moment is her mini micro scooter!

  7. We regularly use M&S for parties, including all the sandwich platters, desserts and most of there other party nibbles too!

After you have bought all the bits in yourself and then spent all your time making the sandwiches etc they never look the same or taste as good as we think the M&S ones do.

You may as well save yourself some time (and perhaps spend a little more money - although we always think it works out to be quite cost effective as long as you are careful not to over order) and enjoy what M&S have to offer!

They usually only need 5 working days for an order, and in some cases for basic sandwiches just 2 days.

    Would definitely recommend.

  8. Starting this week I am back down to 4 days a week at work with a Friday off which I am very pleased about!

I wondered if the people of this lovely forum could recommend/give details of classes and events thats happen specifically on a Friday that we could start attending?

My little girl is 2.5 years old.
