The pressure's growing... what if you failed... your own 73 thread... Could you EVER live it down?... LaddyMuck has put a tracer on it... KTnumbers and Frankito are stalking it in relays...I have persuaded i-Phone to make it an app... Once it hits 70 sleep will be a luxury... closer now........ closer......................

Anno vero - isn't that what you put on a skin irritation?

You're assuming the ad stands for the same thing in 2000AD as it does now but it is set so far into the future (well after the collapse of religion and the arrival of Tharg the Mighty) that it obviously follows the Brianonian calendar and stands for After Derek.

Does this mean that when I hit my thumb with a hammer I can still shout "Jesus Fucking Christ!" or should I be reverting to "By Toutatis/Belenos/Iovantucarus!" or is there a suitably atheistic equivalent? I think I shall still use the ac/dc bc/ad way if only so that when explaining it to the young atheists of the future and watching their jaws hit the floor in disbelief I can say "I know! Mad isn't it?"

Speaking of nutters, Beefy has been putting forward innovative ways of preventing future inner-city riots... cricket and corporal punishment ..actually uses the phrase "It didn't do me any harm..."

@Strafer - yes I know... man-up.. quite right.. but as I said I didn't recognise anyone... and everyone in there looked.. well... of a similar... well anyone there, any group there, could have been... and I should have toured the room on a quest but my intent-staring at individual groups was already attracting suspicious glances... I suppose I shouldn't have worn a mac... So I suppose I did lose my April slightly and beat a retreat. Next time I shall post my intent (early) to wear something distinctive, develop a less obvious code to establish 'contact' like "Have you seen a lost cat in here?" (to which of course the correct reply would be "It's only a matter of time") and carry a copy of 'Waitrose Weekend' (in case Frankito ever shows) and commit every face to memory before the Adnams takes hold. Or I could just wear a Man City scarf and listen out for LM's howls of outrage. >:D<

But sir? If neutrinos are taking a short cut - isn't that cheating? And if not Sir, then was Dr. Who right after all? And why didn't they try an Operetta Collaboration before embarking on the full Ring Cycle? Yes Sir. *trudges sulkily out of lab - after leaving gas taps on*

I think tbf 'intellectual' (complete with sneer) is usually directed at those who study/teach/discuss one or more of English/History/Politics/Sociology/Art... etc. Surely sciencey types are still boffins. Boffins are fun - I don't think many people sneer at Stephen Hawking, and I can't see any evidence on this thread of sneering either. A little light-hearted leg-pulling perhaps but no sneering.

Until recently this guy was offering luuudicrously good deals on dollars, euros, anything - I don't see how he could have been making any money on it.... http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR_NnZBX6PrbtnXzENomQqC3l8T4o7UuDAOi5QI3aV_sYwhoDXK ..don't know where he is now though, not answering his phone.

As far as Bentley goes I'm still living in denial hope that he could finally rediscover the form he showed at Blackburn now he is at WH. Maybe a season in the Championship is what he needs...

OGWT retrospective on BBC4 made me think of another 3rd album success story (and yes of course it's from the 70s) - Argent - All Together Now.

No - I did the slinking thing and return to casa maxxi... have some earlier homemade polpette and a cheeky barbaresco to cheer me up. Enjoy the Plough, perhaps next time we shall wear hats! ETA: P.S. - Journey not entirely wasted as I did notice on passing that the @999 salon had a notice up saying it was opening again today - my OH is delighted.

Curse my facial recognition software short term memory. Set off for The Gowlett all 'a-jaunt' looking forward to continuing acquaintances begun only a few weeks ago. Got into the bar at 8.30 and ordered one of the guest beers. Took a sip and looked confidently around the fairly busy pub. I saw a lot of people who looked like they could be some of those I met last time. In fact they ALL looked like that. Then I looked for a pregnant bump but realised I must have missed mein hostess. I couldn't hear LM so obviously too early and no one was sporting pegs so no clues there either. I peered into the corners hoping that when eye contact - however fleeting - occurred there would be some twinkle of recognition or a raised/questioning eyebrow. Nothing. Not a sausage. There was nothing for it. I could either slink off home with my tail between my legs and write out "I must try harder to remember people's faces" 100 times or I could work my way around the pub asking of each group "Er, are you on the forum?" I must try harder to remember people's faces I must try harder to remember people's faces I must try harder to remember people's faces I must try harder to remember people's faces .....
