  1. I'm confidently predicting a NZ-SA final (which is the best guarantee of an all-UK final you can get).

  3. I lived in Canning Town from 87-89. The good points were the Abbey Pub and being able to walk to the football. There were no others. It was f*cking bleak. I hear it has gone upmarket since the Jubilee Line arrived...

Indeed -next to the ED LOCAL Newsagents (which also now has a "Retail Unit To Let" sign outside). Might be a lot of new exciting businesses soon... might be.

Possibly because, like Sogim Pharmacy in same building, it's rent has been increased? This building (99-115 Lordship Lane) was sold a couple of years ago (I think to an investment group) - the advertising blurb ran: "? Prime investment opportunity located in the gentrified* London suburb of Dulwich.? Multi-let parade to strong coverants for an average unexpired term of 11.4 years.? Re-based rental levels with strong prospects for future rental growth. ? Freehold. ? Total current income: ?199,750 pa.? Offers in excess of: ?2,515,000.? Net initial yield: 7.5%." I think the new owners might be exploring those "strong prospects". *It's official Lou!
  7. I thought she meant Baud - "noun: baud; - a unit of transmission speed equal to the number of times a signal changes state per second. For signals with only two possible states one baud is equivalent to one bit per second." Which does sound a lot like Fox...

The correct description of a maxxi is now "Unbelievably high position for unbelievable period ending in falling off a cliff"* *See also "The Lemming (erroneous)", "The Norfolk Clifftop Bungalow", "The Man Utd".

I think she's relocating to the old Lush Designs shop over the road.
  12. According to TFL it terminates BEFORE Westminster Bridge. "BRIDGE STREET, SW1: Buses are diverted until 05:00 Saturday 9 November due to borough works on Bridge Street. Route 12 starts and terminates at St Thomas Hospital/County Hall daily between 06:00 and 23:59."
  13. Another empty shop/new business is about to be added to the list when Sogim Pharmacy closes. There is already a 'New Lease Available' sign nailed to the outside. Pharmacist says increased rent is why she is leaving.

  15. One of Lou's past lives gives a clue to her antipathy towards some neighbourhood newbies...
  16. Quids is contractually obliged to appear every time the ? suffers a dip. I fear the alter-ego ???? may be waiting in the wings...
  17. I'm in again - for the exciting first few weeks that I remember to enter my predictions and the frustrating if-only-I'd-remembered last few weeks of the season - thanks RD
  18. After the discussions re M&S deliveries (and as this is newly opened and has no precedent) does anyone know if there are rules that govern the hours a large lorry can deliver its cages of goods (with all the accompanying bangs and crashes) on LL? I spoke to the driver and he said they will be always delivering after midnight on weekdays because that is what head office have told them to do. I shall call Southwark Council for info tomorrow but wondered if anyone had any 'to-hand' gen re this. Ta.
