  1. A brief message for anyone thinking of using Mick Conlan aka woodpucker on MyBuilder.com. I was very disappointed by his service. He took many weeks longer than we originally agreed and left without even completing the project. I now still have an unfitted wardrobe mirror, doors that are a struggle to open and with no door handles. He was a poor communicator, did not turn up at agreed times and did not behave professionally. It's a pity because his work on the shelving and small cupboards was good. I'm afraid that I cannot recommend him and I'd suggest you do not engage him...
  2. Thanks to you both! At our last meeting we were discussing the WINGDING and generally kicking ourselves for not having enough people on board to organise it this year. We REALLY want to bring it back next year- bigger and better (but not louder) than ever. If anyone is able to help in any way- however small, we'd appreciate it. A festival on this scale takes months of planning and the more active support we have- the easier it is!! We're thrilled people like the new play equipment. Hopefully the new (indestructible) table tennis tables will be as popular too! Keep the feedback coming. We do sometimes feel its a thankless task and reading your positive comments gives us all a big sense of achievement, Cheers, Andy
  3. hi kitty, many many thanks for the post! Lovely to see so many young people enjoying themselves in a space which was once so empty. We have no further plans for developments in WG- but we are keen for new members to join us to give us their input on our plans for next year- including a dog show AND the return of the fabulous Warwick Wingding! Our next meeting is November 30th at 7pm. Please come along...
  4. hey realdeal, to be honest I could never understand what all the fuss was about. Apart from the two table tennis tables -THAT'S IT! I guess people don't like change is what it boils down to- but I am hoping that those people who were so incensed will see that the improvements we've made are small and a good "fit" for the park. Bloody hard work to win the argument but seeing all those kids using the equipment gladdens my heart it does...
  5. Hey realdeal and others, a quick reminder that the public meeting is this wednesday 27th at 7pm Villa Nursery School, corner Azenby Road and Lyndhurst Grove SE15, see you there!
  6. dear all, for those of you who are interested in the facts- please see the warwick garden facebook page for the planned proposals. We have worked hard to ensure that they are low-impact, don't spoil the "open vista" and still give slightly older kids somewhere safe and clean to play locally, without encroaching on the toddlers. We welcome reasoned debate. We welcome you to come and discuss the plans. Join us on 27th July at the Villa nursery. best wishes to you all, whatever your perspective...
  7. dear all, we're working hard to improve adventure play facilities in Warwick Gardens and we need your support! There will be a PUBLIC MEETING at The Villa Nursery School (corner Lyndhurst Grove and Azenby Road) on Wednesday 27th July at 7pm. Without your help these lovely improvements won't happen so please come along if you can. You can see photo's of the proposals on our Facebook page at WARWICK GARDEN. Please look at them and "like" them too. If you'd like more info leave us a message and we'll respond asap. We love our park and want to improve it for future generations of young people to enjoy and we hope you will support us, thanks from andy (chair)
  8. hi everyone! SO great to get your support and comments about WG.It's true that there are one or two people who object to us putting equipment in the dog free area- but it seems to us that it's underused. yes you're right taper- the footie and the cricket spaces are sacred and will NOT be touched. Here's the pictures we have. As soon as the plans ready I'll post that too. Thanks for ALL your comments...
  9. thanks for your posts people! the objection is that these modest changes will "spoil the grand sweep of the unspoilt vista". personally I like to see our kids out playing in parks and think there isn't enough for slightly older children to do in warwick gardens. if you agree, please "like" the pictures. I'll post some info about the public meeting we're having next month for those of you who are interested to know more.. andy
  10. if you live local to warwick gardens SE15 and your kids use the park, take a look at our proposed shiny new adventure play equipment on our facebook page "warwick garden". There are a few people who are opposed to it so we really need lots of folks to give us their support and encouragement! thanks from friends of Warwick Gardens
  11. what a great idea! i'm chair of the Friends of Warwick Gardens and we all agree that this is a wonderful use of the log circle- it was exactly what was in our minds when we created it. all the very best to your group, andy...
