Hutton has come out and said gov plans are right, because he based his report on more optimistic growth forecasts. He does say though that he fears many low wage earners will opt out.

    That was pretty funny.
  7. No no, you are right, and I guess I,for example, could have chosed Everton, or Tranmere, since I was up that way. Or I should be more loyal to Charlton, who I've seen play live at least as many times as Liverpool, and certainly more recently. I also look at them as my "home" team, because I spent more of my youth over that way, than near CP / Milwall. But even I get annoyed when people have never been to Anfild, or even stepped foot in Liverpool. Even more so for Old Trafford / Manchester. Right, I'm going to get myaself a ticket to The Valley soon, and start taking notice of Charlton a lot more again. I'll still always support Liverpool though. When Charlton were in the prem, I always hoped for a drawer between the 2, and if not, a Liverpool win. That said, I always said that if it was the last day, and Charlton needed a win, I'd rather them stay up, than Liverpool win the title by sending Charlton down). Guess that is split loyalty!
  8. Well then you don't count under Quid's eligability critera, you qualify under "Place of birth" reasons I juuuuuuuuust about qualify under "residency", as I never supported any team (other than England) before I went to uni in Liverpool, at which point I chose them. I haven't stepped foot on Merseyside in about 10 years now though :-$ I have been to Charlton and supported them loads of times though, although not sicnce a dire match against Bristol City a couple of years back. Charlton were my second team, simply because I wanted to get in to a girls knickers, and she was a big fan. Alas, I never made it in to the knickers, but I still kept an eye on Charlton.
  9. At least one of those videos was actually filmed before the tram incident (in June), but the tabloid press are trying to make it look as if they're a result of it.

Anyone watch Question Time last night? Thought Chuka Umunna (shadow business minister) was very good. Realistic about current climate, but sensible. He'll do well.
  11. The double jeopardy laws were a nonsense, and fortunately this case brought that to light. But don't try to tell us that you're all upset about a change in the law. You mentioned Steven Lawrence in this thread, and added the "St" bit, simply to get a rise. I sent you a PM yesterday, which you've ignored, and I give up trying to reason with someone who just gets such a thrill from winding people up, and who will use ANY subject to do so You are a sad sad little human, and I'm giving up pointing it out I may not be smart, but when you're banned (again), I'll still be here, sharing my non smart opinions, whilst you're in your bedroom plotting your next really interesting move. Say what you like in response, I promise I won't reply.
  12. Quite.
  13. Parkdrive don't bother with this bloke. He wants a rise out of you, it gives him tingly feelings in his trousers. If no one pays any attention, he'll hopefully just go away and start self harming for kicks.

Surely too obvious, you're losing your touch. And when you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel by using racism for your trolling kicks, perhaps it's time to take it to another forum, where you can use your old material.

  17. I don't care what you believe. I have nothing to back up my claims that I witnessed an incident some 17 years ago, so people can believe it or not. If I was going to make it up though, I wonder why I'd make it 17 years ago, rather than the other week, and really, why would I bother? The point is, that I was so shocked by it at the time (not to mention guilty, for not stepping in and telling the kid off), that it has stuck in my mind for 17 years. I could point out the exact bus stop, and describe the kid if you like, but there really is little point.
  18. Yeah, good one. I don't even believe you have a kid to take to a party. In fact, I don't even think you're female. Just an idiot.

I agree, my current role has opened my eyes in a lot of ways to the harsh realities of budgets. I do think there are good and bad ways of doing things though. Oh, and why have people started calling me Keef all of a sudden?
  21. Does a parent have "PC ambitions" if they want to send their child to a school with a diverse mix of ethnicity? I'd say they just want them to grow up as someone who can see past skin colour. Basically someone not like you.

David Cameron has described the strike as "a damp squib", which is exactly the kind of dismissive, and arrogant language you'd expect from him.

I saw no picket lines in Newham today, although I wasn't really looking very hard to be honest. Given the size of the strike, you'd have thought there would have been a massive rally, but I've not heard of anything.
  24. Yeah, scary. He'd be about 25 now, as I think I was about 16. BTW, for a really racist place, not far from our own doorsteps, try the Brook estate in Eltham. Now that is a horrid place to walk around!

Whatever your take on the strike, and the cuts, does anyone really believe that the Tories wouldn't have liked to do such things anyway? The current economic situation has made it very easy for them to justify what they basically believe in. Just to change the subject a bit, the thing I've noticed from talking to people at work recently, is that the biggest fear is ob losses. Public sector workers have traditionally had big time job security. I admit to joking with mates in the pub, that I'm "unsackable" (this was in the past, wehn I was a permanent member of staff). These days however, job security doesn't seem to exist, and people are being gotten rid of, not for doing anything wrong, but because of constant restructuring. "Restructuring" is basically a nicer way of saying "get rid of a few people, and any posts that are vacant and waiting to be filled".
