  1. They are all significantly different You could make a case for all of them having their similar chocolate-box qualities but they have completely different vibes. Besides, I named the general areas rather than specifics. Just to choose Devon, living in Plymouth and Exeter are quite different experiences. As are living in North vs South devon Sussex is still commuter belt land with all of the downsides of that, but a world of difference between Bognor & Brighton And Peak District is part Yorkshire and you're talking a differenet race up there As for a care home in Dorset - wherever we end up living we will end up needing care most likely
  2. eh where did I suggest anything of the sort?
  3. When you look at Owen and Beckham being picked as Captain ahead of him you do wonder if there is something in what he says But then you think about it a bit more and Gerrard and Terry do have leadership qualities and have a record of geeing up their teams. Whereas Campbell went walkabout in the middle of a game against West Ham fercrissakes! so to call the FA racist is brain-dead behaviour
  4. I have this idea that when I retire it will be completely away from the south east of england. Up near the Peak District or maybe back down Devon way. Or maybe I will stay in Sussex

  15. Found it. Eq was off Sound limit was off too But what's this? "sound check". A feature which is meant to prevent sounds from being too jarring from others. Never seen it before so obviously a recent ios addition. Turned off and I'm hearing what I should be hearing Foxy came closest. But cheers all
  16. cheers Jez - but that would affect all songs equally wouldn't it (they are off btw)
  17. "However, this does NOT detract from the facts for me and others." I'm afraid it very much does
  18. Anyone else have this problem? In the last few weeks, I?ve noticed that maybe 30-40% of the tracks on my iphone have started to sound not right At this point, anyone with a beef about apple, iphones, MP3, digital music generally needs to start another thread because this isn?t the one! By ?not right? I mean volume seems about 50% of what it should be. Vocals have retreated to the background. A general light smear of muffle over the whole sound If I play the same track via spotify it?s absolutely fine ?so I?m ruling out my phone connector or headphones The affected tracks were playing fine until recently ? and it?s not the album master as some tracks on same album don?t have the problem I get it on both MP3 and AAC files so it?s not format specific either The remaining 60-70% of tracks on the phone play just fine but the problem is affecting more of them every week It sounds odd and I?ve googled it and I get a sense it is a new problem which is affecting a few people but so far not enough for anyone to be able to help or take it seriously so I thought I?d try here
  19. I don't hate Utd or begrudge Rooney the money per se Bale worth a lot more on the pitch over the next 5 years than Rooney I'm merely vocalising why I think the Rooney signing might be a mistake (even after taking into account RD's articulate posts) The teams at the top either have ridiculous money thrown at them over specific season(s) or have patiently ground away building up teams from youth/undervalued players Man Utds problems (and I accept all of the points about their global reach, big business etc etc) include: Global Reach: This brand penetration has occured in the last 20 years when they have clearly been a dominant force. There is no guarantee that those far flung fans will remain loyal over several turbulent seasons Ownership: If a new owner to rival the megabucks at City arrived tomorrow GUARANTEEING as much money as any manager could need, they would still be competing with City et al - no guarantee of success there. But as it is they have the over leveraged Glazers. If they do have the will, do they have the means? Players: Rooney (for next year or two. Maybe). de Gea. Mata. Rvp. These are the only players you can start to build a team around. And I wouldn't trust RVP as far as I could throw him. It's going to take years to forge another squad around them I'm not saying I 100% agree with all of that - but those are the thoughts that run through my mind. And I accept the counter arguments. But it would be arrogant to sweep aside concerns and say the brand/business will take care of the slack
  20. "hatred of Man U and wishfull thinking is making the irrational even more irrational and some of the rational fairl irrational " apart from PD's usual "jokey banter", is there a lot of Man Utd hate on here? Who are the irrational exactly, and how are they being irrational?
  21. Wavy girl, most people are agreeing with that point Saying "you all go back to clapham" Why don't you get your chip off your shoulder? As such a local, where have you been last 7 years of the forum, telling people to leave? Cheeky mare
  22. projected income could fall drastically if the team remains where it is what about new signings - won't they be in the same wage ballpark? income falling, expenditure rocketing Assuming Glazers do spend of course
  23. hp - I'm not saying your child isn't woken by planes but it's worth looking into sleep patterns generally eg http://theparentingpassageway.com/2011/03/27/normal-stages-in-sleep-for-the-child-ages-4-9/ if they are going through a waking early phase, then they hear the planes they may associate the planes with the cause incorrectly when you say ages - months? weeks? years?
  24. You can make a case for either side of the Rooney signing and I have sympathy for both sides of that argument By I definitely lean towards the ?they didn?t have much choice, but it?s going to cost them big time? I don?t believe Rooney will be any better than 1-2 years at top of his game Rooney is not the man to consistently lead a team (he has matured plenty over last 5 years or so, but not enough to be That Guy) Have Man Utd got the money? If not, then that?s a huge drain on cashflow. If yes then many a younger player (especially targets) will look at that figure and want parity I think it?s all very unfortunate
  25. Juve making enquiries for RvP
