  1. Small world.... I was at a bbq today and I was introduced to someone who happens to be a member of staff at Goodrich, so I just outright asked them about the trapping, alleged or otherwise. The person confirmed it as fact and informed me that there had been about five or six foxes trapped to their knowledge and also one, possibly two domestic cats.
  2. I was at a friends house last night for dinner and my friend and his wife were having a terrible time with their daughter, she was very upset and crying constantly. The couple were telling me that their daughter, who is in year three at Goodrich school, was upset because during the day whilst playing, her and her friends went into a garden behind the old school house? In the garden they found a fox that had been caught in a trap, their daughter said it was shaking, looked hungry and scared. Basically their daughter does not want to go to school today, because in her words "their hurting animals". I realise that foxes are a pest at times and need to be relocated or put down, but really cant this be done in a better way. Surely the traps should be checked each morning and emptied if need be, before children are exposed to this kind of experience. I am no great fan of Mr Fox, but I also feel that animals need to be treated in a humane fashion. I personally can think of much places to be than stuck in a small cage with no water, especially given the temperatures we have been experienceing the last few days.
  3. Woman inside was rescued by a chap who works for the artist David Mach, kicked in the front door and got her out. Very fortunate no one was injured..... The top live/work space is completely gutted and there has been substantial water damage to the studios rented below. Were allowed back into Havelock Walk about 9.30ish last night.

Also Wetherspoons do not own the Capital, they rent it....problem is no one can afford to pay the rent that Wetherspoons do at the drop of a hat.

The 100K I believe is used to supliment business rents to get a business up on their feet. Example: http://thebutcheryltd.com/forest-hill-pop-up.html http://www.see3.co.uk/pen-and-gravymodernish-kirkdale/ http://www.see3.co.uk/jack-jill/
  7. The higher rents are really hurting the independants on the lane, I know for a fact that there are three more shops that will be closing within six months of the new year due to literally when higher rents come into effect. One business is having their rent go from ?17,000 to ?35,000! The business area is also expanding through to Forest Hill, Sydenham and Penge. There is a lot of money and government initiatives providing support for start ups, ie the Mary Portas scheme has allocated ?100,000 to the previous mentioned areas. I know of one business that will be relocating to Dartmouth Rd in Forest Hill due to the above mentioned financial assistance. One of the major factors for this expansion is the Overground, these areas are much more easily accesable due to the train system. Man I really miss Inside 72....
  8. Not trying to hijack thread....however do people know that there was in fact tube tunneling and an underground station dug many years ago at East Dulwich. This was never opened as the tunnels kept collapsing due to water. Technology at the time, or rather the lack of it made it near impossible to make work. The lack of underground stations 'down south' is due to geological reasons. The Thames is not only a geographical border but also a geological border. Noth of the river is predominantly bedrock and other forms of solid matter, where south of the river is pourous material such as limestone and clay, hence the location of the Thames - water follows the path of least resistance.
  9. "we will pay the musicians - no tickets and no charge for the customers. this is a pub which will have live music - we're not going to become a venue." The Hob in Forest Hill have been doing this for years - it works.
  10. Probably does not help as I live in Honor Oak Park, however my girlfriend and I went to Excel yesterday and we timed it out of a bit of fun.....from Honor Oak Park Station to front door of Excel took a fraction over 26 mins, how cool is that. Also as we did not cross zones the fairs were really cheap.
  11. The location for the Sainsburys in Honor Oak Park will be located where the now closed tandoori restaurant was, they will knock through the walls of the two empty shops to the right to expand the space. My original post was to ask if the whole Waitrose story was true, thats all. When I was asked about it up town this morning from someone who does not live in the area I thought I would ask if anyone had heard anything, end of story.
  12. I cant see it happening.....prob Waitrose got substituted for Sainsburys with the chinese whispers.
  13. I know this is the EDF however a lot of us from over the hill also post here......anyway, It has been confirmed for a while that Sainsburys are opening a Sainsburys local in Honor Oak Park, now I hear Waitrose are looking to open in what used to be the Old Bank restaurant! Story was East Dulwich was considered then quickly dropped in favour of Honor Oak as Honor Oak has a London Overground station (old east london line), and is in a commute hotspot. Personally I dont like Waitrose, very overated, over priced.....anyone know whats happening?
  14. Si Mangia....always had great tucker in there, also they have stuck it out while others have closed. As for another chippy we already have the Seamaster and always found it to be sound in regard to both food and customer service.
  15. I think I remember Denmark Hill Station having its roof 'stolen' quite a few years ago....
  16. If your concerned about the aircraft noise now wait till the Olympics next year. Have a mate who works for Heathrow and the number of extra flights before, during and after the Olympics is going through the roof.
  17. Not at all PC, but one of my old neighbours laid baits in his garden, bit extreme but solved the problem not only in his garden, but our whole street, I guess Mr Foxy Lox got the idea....
  18. Random thought...who remembers the Ed Fest at the EDT and Goose Green in 2001?
  19. Whatever the cases on either side of the debate...the last thing we need is to drive past one of our communities schools and see that someone has spray painted the words 'b**** c***' on the school wall, as was the case this morning! The management did a great job getting it removed before parents AND children had to pass it before entering the school.
  20. Hey guys did anyone see the Gorilla playing drums in the EDT last night? 'I can feel it calling in air tonight'! Absolutely fantastic!
  21. The depth to which this violent attitude is pervading our youth in particular is very worrying. I work in one of the new 'academys' - last week a year eight student pulled a replica gun in the corridor and threatened some female students and cleaners. Even on close inspection the thing appeared the real deal. The school had to be pushed to report to police - bad PR apparently!
  22. Cheers Keef! Sorry guys, I just sometimes miss ED when it was 'our' secret! Things do have to move on........having said that... Keef may well see you lot for music at the Plough Friday night - excellent idea and will support!
