  1. I agree 100% it would have been much better for everyone had the story not made the papers. Not good at all.
  2. I did not start this thread (which I imagine will be deleted very soon) and read the newspaper story (online) in shock and surprise. All I'm trying to do is defend someone who is being accused of racism and of harrassment and all sorts. I shall leave you all to enjoy your conspiracy theories - have fun.
  3. Sats are supposed to be about judging the school, not individual children, surely?
  4. That's 'paranoia' - trying to type and cook. And hear hear Mick Mack, some sanity at last!
  5. I don't watch Family Fortunes but on the Archers this morning there was a joke about Joe Grundy having to escape a mob with flaming torches after his mistletoe scam was exposed. I really don't think Joe Grundy is a black character, or that there was any suggestion of racism.
  6. I am surprised that anyone fails to recognise the figures as from the Frankenstein movie - it has been parodied endlessly, including in Young Frankenstein the Wallace and Gromit film The Curse of the Were Rabbit. 'Pitchfork waving' has become a joke phrase meaning angry people.
  7. I have seen this. I assumed a funeral. The whole road was filled and it was very difficult to drive safely.
  8. Hugenot, there are posts on this thread which do - shamefully - suggest this poster was inspired by racist motives. How on earth can a picture of plastic joke figures (they are the 'angry mob' from the old Frankenstein movie) surrounding a figure of Charles Darwin (white, male, dead) be racist? It makes no sense at all. I imagine the central figure was supposed to represent the governors - it was a joke! The joke may not be to everyone's taste, but that's a different issue.
  9. Shoppers use cars, you know, so I suspect the traders trying to make a living in the shops and cafes in this area would almost certainly not support measures that make driving and parking even more insanely difficult than they are. Making parking impossibly destroys local shops and sends people to supermarkets etc where parking is provided. There are paint, hardware and furniture shops there!
  10. Btw it is entirely normal for posters for events to be designed by parents (eg PTA) and not be approved by the head.
  11. I don't think the poster was racist or 'disturbing' and I am pretty sure it didn't upset any children.
  12. I am confining my comments to saying that everything I know about the Moyles is that they are decent people who do not deserve the awful things being said about them.
  13. I cannot believe that some people are happily assuming the most appalling motives to David Moyle with no evidence whatsoever
