  1. Hi there. Is anyone on here an expert in how to help someone who will imminently be made homeless? Not myself, but a local single parent who has been priced out of ED's rising rental market. Any ideas for how to tackle the situation or accommodation welcome. They have of course gone down the standard route of speaking to council and Shelter.
  2. It really is poor judgement on the bakery?s part. The baby was probably only crying over the eye watering prices of their bread, something i?ve certainly wanted to do as a big, grown, paying adult customer.
  3. Ooh, we loved having you!!! Come back next Christmas!
  4. I think you all mean tumbleweaves.
  5. Thank you everyone. Lilac door looks gorg.
  6. We all seem to have gone pretty quiet, not surprising since most of us are either delivering or coping with the first few weeks! I wondered if anyone around Forest Hill has been organised enough to work out child are for going back to work early next year?
  7. Hello, does anyone have any suggestions for a nice place my mum could stay, as she is coming to visit her first grandchild from Australia. She usually stays with us, but it's not going to work with the new baby. Any tips for the east Dulwich/Dulwich/Forest Hill area appreciated. She needs to be able to get to us on Woolstone Road easily. Thanks so much for any tips.
  8. Sounds a lots like the Stokke handy sit
  9. Let's get to the Great Exhibiton then! Anyone got dates in mind? When most of us are on leave we could do a weekday lunch.
  10. Hi Jenny We've just made the move too! I see you're due soon. Are you in the East Duwlich winter babies group? We can be found here http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1130133,1222858#msg-1222858 We're meeting tomorrow afternoon if you want to join us. Pushpaw that dance class sounds brilliant!
  11. Hi guys I dropped, offline for a bit, but have joined the FB group. Is another meet up planned? Cheers
  12. I didn't want to wear one and be branded either, but I have got so sick of people not offering me a seat, it has helped me. So it benefits me, in giving me some more of my my pre-pregnancy confidence back to ask ( that went and was replaced by weariness). I do think it also makes it easier for others to identify you quickly, making it easier for them to offer you a seat. Up to you of course, but if you're in pain or bump is bundled up under a coat, it is useful. I was also pondering this evening that it makes it much more obvious why I am slow, queuing to stand on the right and ought not to be bumped or bustled and I haven't been while wearing it.
  13. I agree with everyone else here. It was a worthwhile investment and I sent it on to another would-be mum on mumsnet.
  14. Hello @KVT, @Privatebanking. Welcome @JVT So I have now signed up,for the Forest Hill NCT prenatal course they run at the big Methodist church. Not sure if any of you will be there, but looking forward to meeting some people in the new neighbourhood that way. @Privatebanking, maybe that would be good for you location-wise? @KVT go us! Let's see what day they actually decide to show up! Are you going to be at King's?
  15. Hello all! I just found this thread. Thanks for starting it @tarafitness. I'm a first time mum (writing that makes me want to cry, I'm so emotional) and am due on Jan 16. Like @souvlaki, I've just bought in Forest Hill, near Catford, so soon to be an SE23er. I'm really interested in what you @loz334 @CocoC @londonhypnobirthing have been saying about the birthing pools. I will definitely be calling ahead, if my brain per,it's such organisation on the day! I'd love to meet up and have yet to join any kind of class, though NCT and hypnotist are on my list. All I've managed so far are some eBay purchases of clothes and pram and dishing out knitting instructions to my mum.
  16. Paul and Harry did see them coming, now that 550 garden place is sold stc! When they move in, Franklins can do them out of their grocery budget for a handful of exquisite, hand-turned vintage carrots.
  17. @fazer71 Your harsh critique of their brain cells may in fact be accurate. Last weekend a barman repeatedly tried to convince a waitress that a glass of white wine was actually rose, to the baffled bemusement of said waitress and all at the bar.

  19. I'm from Oz myself and I had the Vaishaly facial at the Dorchester recently. It's so deluxe. You can have 1 treatment (or more, of course) and enjoy the steam room and lounging area for as long as you like. One of my friends goes out to the Cliveden in Berks regularly and she loves it. Have fun!
