  1. Used to love the Dulwich Sports Club bonfire.

Deeply disappointed last year when, instead of everyone being able to stand around it, the fire was well fenced off down the end of the field. Bit pointless as a bonfire. Health and safety I guess.

Comment anything to do with your link to Edward Alleyn Club Otto?

Perhaps you could let us know - was a different or extended licence in operation on Saturday?

    The above conditions - definitely.

  4. There are always more important things in the world than the stuff raised in pretty much every thread on this forum. That's the nature of the forum.

This was an incredibly loud ; drums, shouting, music wedding at a venue licensed to stage such events in the future.

So ,yes, it is (relatively) important for those who had it inflicted upon them to contact the school about:

    Licensing

Why there wasn't a contact number for the organisers (schools are required to provide an out of hours contact number)

The proposed frequency of any future events

Why neighbouring streets weren't advised that such a loud event was going to take place

What the school considers its duty to be as a good neighbour to those in the local area who had this inflicted upon them (this isn't like a one off party, this is a business benefiting financially at cost to non-benefiting neighbours)

And if the school aren't contacted then they'll just think it's ok to do it again.

As it was this event met the criteria for calling out the Southwark noise team.

  5. Eastpak Wyoming Rucksack

Good straps, not too chunky. Looks better than usual rucksack.

Leather(?) bottom and decent comfy carrying handle.

Bought one in TK Max years ago. Used weekly, still going strong.

And at 25-40 quid more replaceable and chuckaroundable than Herschel etc

herschel basic backpack doesn't have enough pockets - no exterior quick access pocket. Def get something that not just one big compartment but also not something with loads of fiddly compartments.

Whistles ones were half price at Next. I had a look at blue metallic type one. Nice. Roomy. Good pockets. But wasn't convinced the straps would hold up to the amount of rubbish I shove in mine.

  6. Honestly.

Everybody who has a child at a school will have a view on the school; good, bad, whatever.

Mostly they are full of decent people doing a decent job.

Constant airing on social media no help whatsoever in my opinion; usually the voice of the disgruntled few whilst the happier masses are just getting on with it and have no need to keep picking at things.

  7. Schools vary. There is no requirement to have TAs in classes.

Odd to have said child has no need of support on a Friday!

If your child is in year 5 and has a Southwark Statement their Statement should be being transfered to an EHC this term, which would give you the opportunity to meet with the SENCO and the local authority and revisit support and how it is delivered.

  8. A statement usually says 1:1 or small group support.

Not all classes have a TA as standard.

You do not say which year group your child is in but in my experience a full time class TA beyond Year 3 is unusual (without a child with an EHC/statement in the class).

It could be argued that the TA in on a Friday is primarily supporting your child.

This is not to downplay the fact that the school should have communicated with you.

Try Southwark Parent Partnership or Ipsea.
