  1. We have an increasingly long waiting list for our Circus Day at Nimble Arts this summer, so we're trying to see if there's enough interest to run an extra day on Tuesday 26th August! Find out more about Nimble Arts at www.nimblearts.co.uk - we are a local, creative company running exciting community arts activities, and have a top notch team of circus freelancers! It'll a day of circus skills, magic arts and crafts and much more, suitable for 5-11 year olds (and 4 year olds can join for 4 hours). Workshops run 10-4 with free creative free play available 8.30 - 5pm. Cost is ?45/?37 siblings/?27 for 4 hours. We can only go ahead with the extra date if we have enough people taking part, but you can register your interest to take part at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/V8MYT3C and we'll make a final decision by August 15th (or earlier if we get enough people!) - these days tend to fill up really quickly so we're very much hoping to run this extra session! Any questions, drop us an email to [email protected]

Friday 1st August: Sound and Film Over the day, you'll create your own radio show, explore sound and video using iPads, and also make an amazing animated short with professional animator Helen Piercy (http://helenanimate.com). 4. Hey - we've still spaces at Nimble Arts creative holiday clubs - full details at www.nimblearts.co.uk x
  5. Sorry to say there's no Nimble Tales this week, as the Dish and the Spoon has started refurb work a wee bit sooner than I originally thought when planning the term. If I can find an alternative venue for the last two fridays of term (and if anyone has any ideas!) I'll put something up here, otherwise I'll be back in the Autumn in the new revamped Dish and the Spoon! Over Fridays in the the Summer I'll be running sessions at the Horniman Museum for under 5s as part of their great animal orchestra exhibition, should be musical and fun! Advance booking is necessary for these sessions, it's ?2 per child and you can find out more and book on their website at http://www.horniman.ac.uk/visit/events/great-animal-tales.
  6. We've been getting quite a lot of email enquiries about how exactly the three day musical works! I've tried to put a bit more here at http://eepurl.com/YraUL, but any questions, do ask and I'll try to answer here... In brief, basically we're not about giving a script, or trying to re-enact other existing musicals (although there are a lot of great courses locally that do that, and we do know this is also a lot of fun!). Our courses are really about using our imaginations and lots of creative play to come up with something that the children taking part have devised themselves. Roles are created to fit the participants, and whether they're budding musical soloists, or would prefer more of a backstage role, everyone can get involved :) Our final musicals tend to be pretty weird and wonderful, and are performed to parents, carers and friends at the end of the course. If we have enough budget, we're hoping to get this properly filmed at the end too!
  7. Some places still left - the later (18th August week) week is filling particularly quickly, so would advise booking soon! More information is at http://eepurl.com/YraUL, or have a peek at our website at www.nimblearts.co.uk
  8. I'm on holiday this week, so no session, but join me next Friday for one if the last few sessions before a wee summer break. Other things are happening this summer , so do DM me if you want to join the nimble tots mailing list for more info!
  9. Still places left for all days, but more than half full most days, with circus days (Wednesdays) and drama (Tuesday) looking most full! I'll make sure we update on here if individual days fill up, but would advise booking soon!
  10. More nautical stores, songs and cello music this Friday at the Dish and the Spoon! Drop ins welcome, do drop me a line for more information at [email protected] x
  11. Join Nimble Arts this summer to write, compose and perform your own brand new musical! This is a fun creative project for 6-11 year olds, and using Nimble Arts costumes, props, instruments, staff and LOTS of imagination, you can come and write your own weird, wonderful and possibly wacky new musical. Previous projects included the wonderful 'Woofeow' (the journey of a dog who thought she was a cat!) and 'The Pumpkin Princess' (an angry princess and her mission to ban everything beginning with the letter P!). Dates are: 5th - 7th August, Heber Primary School (10.00 - 4.00 each day, with free childcare 8.30 - 5.00) 26th - 28th August, Goose Green Primary School (10.00 - 4.00 each day, with free childcare 8.30 - 5.00) Find out more, and book, on our website at www.nimblearts.co.uk.
  12. Back this Friday with some sea shanties, pirates and nautical tales! And of course cello tunes, ukelele songs and the opportunity to dance a hornpipe and pop some bubbles! Normally drop in space is available, but if know you're coming, do drop me a line to book as it's helpful to get an idea of numbers and ages! x

  15. I'm back this Friday with the amazing tale of Rover the dog, who doesn't really know who or what she is! Expect puppets, cello tunes and sound FX, ukelele twanging and lots and lots of songs. It all takes place at the Dish and the Spoon, 61 Cheltenham Road, Nunhead at 10.45am and the session lasts c. 35-40 minutes. ?4.50 first child, ?2 siblings, siblings under 18 months go free. There's normally drop in space available, but if you know you're coming, do drop me a line as it's really handy to have an idea of numbers! Becky x
  16. No session this week as I'm running the Nimble Arts holiday club over in East Dulwich for slightly older children. But I'll be back and casting sail for sea on Friday June 13th (and all Fridays there onwards) x
  17. I'm back with live cello music, songs and stories for under 5s at 10.45am, Friday 23rd June at the Dish and the Spoon (61 Cheltenham Road, Nunhead), before a two week break for half term! This week's tale is inspired by a horrendous day earlier this week, when I was trying to manage two coaches full of teenagers from London to Cardiff and back over the course of a day (think grumpy drivers, angry TV execs and sweaty hungry teens)! So Friday's story is one of a an epic journey, but with the help of Boris, Barry and some cello tunes, do things go more smoothly? ?4.50 first child, ?2 siblings, siblings under 18 months go free. Drop ins welcome, but if you know you're coming, do let me know as it's always helpful to get an idea of ages and numbers!
  18. If you're still thinking of booking: Monday: Lots of places left! Tuesday: Drama - 10 places left Wednesday: Circus - 4 spaces Thursday: Music FULL - no spaces left Friday: Film 10 places left x
  19. Nimble Arts holiday club is back for the next May bank holiday Monday! We're joined by Lou from East Dulwich's own Captured in the Rye for screen printing space themed t-shirts in the morning, and in the afternoon we'll be doing quick fire intergalactic crafts (making a rocket that flies, a recycled robot and some inplanetary mobiles!) As it's a bank holiday, for this day only we're inviting the whole family to come and join in either for the full or half day - adults (16+) go free and older and younger siblings are welcome to accompany family groups (but can still take part!), so it's a chance to come and get crafty together :D You can join us either for the full or half day, and there's free early drop off/extended pick up available. Timings are: 8.30 - 10.00: Drop off (we'll have books, games, chill out and craft activities ongoing...and if there's enough of us we can even try some parachute games!) MORNING (10-12.30): Welcome sessions and then t-shirt screen printing with the brilliant Lou from Captured on the Rye AFTERNOON (13.30 ? 16.00, pick up until 17.00): Quick fire crafts ? Go to www.nimblearts.co.uk or email [email protected] to book your place - if booking for the half day, please email (and likewise just let us know if family members will be attending and we'll make sure we've got enough materials!) Find out more about Nimble Arts at www.nimblearts.co.uk - if you're looking for half term activities for 5-11 year olds we have a few spaces remaining for our other holiday club days over the rest of the week and discount in price if you come for multiple days. You can read some feedback about our past courses here: http://nimblearts.co.uk/?page_id=712
  20. Just to update on spaces remaining! I'll try and keep this up to date, as I suspect we may fill up on some days (Wednesday and Thursday looking nearly full) but: Monday 26th: Arts and Crafts - lots of spaces! Of course, it's a bank holiday and many of you are doing family things (we probably should have known this!), but children are welcome to join us for a half day (look at what's happening when on our website), and parents can come and join in too! Tuesday 27th: Drama - 10 spaces Wednesday 28th: Circus/acrobatics = 5 spaces Thursday 29th: Experimental music - 5 spaces Friday 30th: Film Lab - 10+ spaces I'll keep us updated, we're really looking forward to the week!
  21. This Friday we'll be going to the Moon (and Mars and Saturn too!), watching out for those neat-freak Martians, hoping Boris the bird doesn't finish our picnics and enjoying the magical Space Bubbles of Saturn! Drop me a line if you know you're coming (just so I have a rough idea of numbers and ages - [email protected]), but drop in space should be available if you're feeling spontaneous!
  22. Hi LalKJ - at Nimble Arts we can take 4 year olds for 4 hours at a time (it's to do with the terms of early years registration - probably why most clubs operate for 5 upwards!) which we often arrange for younger siblings and friends. If 4 hours is any use, do drop me a PM or email ([email protected]), but appreciate you probably need childcare for the full day. We're hoping to offer this at some point as we're experienced early years practitioners and teachers!
  23. Hi- we've still some spaces for Nimble Arts holiday club in East Dulwich (based at Heber school) if you're still looking. We've got a variety of creative activities, with some great artists and practitioners joining us, all with a bit of an interplanetary/sci-fi theme! Monday: space themed arts and crafts (we're offering half days on this as we know you might have family activities planned some of the day!) Tuesday: Drama - join the mad professor's space lab! Wedenesday: 'Take flight' acrobatics and circus skills Thursday: Sound Lab - weird and wonderful music and sounds Friday: Film Lab - create your own film! All details are at www.nimblearts.co.uk. From experience the mid-week days tend to fill up more quickly, but there's still space on all days for the time being!
  24. Hi All, places are still available but filling up quickly, particularly the mid-week days! As it's a bank holiday Monday, if you're looking for family activities but only want to come for a half day, we're thinking of offering half day sessions for our art and crafts day (as we've had lots of messages from people who are also doing family things that day), so do let us know. We'll get this on the website shortly, or can you message me here or email us at [email protected]. That day is: Morning: T-shirt screen printing with the wonderful Lou from Captured in the Rye Afternoon: 3 spacey arts activities (making a rocket that flies, creating a robot from recycled materials, and making an interplanetary mobile) Becky x
