    PIZZA

The best pizza I have had in the area was in Sydenham at this new restaurant, Re Masaniello where the old Criterion Ice Cream Parlour used to be. The pizzas are done there in front of you in the clay oven and they are very decent and reasonable priced. I always have the vegetarian one with artichokes, aubergines, broccoli raab, mushrooms, peppers. I have also been told that Raffaele restaurant in the area is very good and makes pizzas and rustic bread, more reasonable priced than ED shops and bakeries. Also there are some good pizzerias up to Crystal Palace. Enjoy
  2. what is the problem with the status of the land? Are they going to close the library?
  3. Be careful, last time we did this at Gatwick airport, we had our home broken into when we were away. It has happened to other people as well, Leaving the car at the airport car parks is better than let someone else know you are away, ie airport hotel car parks, car valet parking.
  4. Can I still use this stuff now? Put more soil mixed with it?
  5. I have read that. How can the soi have calcium deficiency if I apply tomorite, and the compost has a lot of broken egg shells to enrich it with calcium? I thought it was too much rain because the fruit looked quite healthy at the beginning and I was just waiting for it to ripe. I got lots of tomatoes plants but all with green tomatoes, not red ripen ones.
  6. My tomatoes have developed black round spots at the bottom of the fruit, where the flower used to be. Can anybody suggest what to do? It just happened in the last few days after tne downpour we had recently. Has anybody managed to ripe their tomatoes properly outside this year? Tks
  7. We were done some months ago through the back door. Again footprints of a young person on our carpet. Bedroom completely ransacked, despite an alarm and double glazing. Police came but never caught thieves or recovered the stolen goods. I have seen a petition on the epetitions regarding domestic burglary punishment. After what we went through, I did not have any hesitation in signing it.

    epetitions

Yes you are right, but some petitions, from what I have seen, are relevant to small communities and groups and it would be very difficult to get 100,000 signatures. Because there are so many petitions repeated, you will never get the necessary required votes for the parliament to consider If they had a system filtering the petitions and rejecting repeations straight away, perhaps things would be better.

    epetitions

I have seen the epetition government website and it was fascinating to see what people really want. My quesiton is: Will the government take them seriously? Some are repetitions and therefore would never collect the necessary number of signatures, some are obsolete and out of spite or completely non relevant. Could the website be better organised and reject, for example repetitions of the same subject? Has anybody seen the epetition website?
  10. I did not have a good experience at St. Thomas where they caused me serious health problems recently. I would not praise them at all for what they have done to me. Not all nurses and doctors are the same, but there are a lot of incompetent people in the NHS.
  11. Mine are the italian type, plus I got some garden delight and cherry tomatoes. There are grwoing but there are still green. As I remember thye normall start to go red during the month of August when it is hotter and sunnier. Tomatoes need a lot of sun, regular watering (but not flooding). I grew mine without using the feed as it makes leaves going yellow and rolling. I have used our compost made with vegetable scraps etc. Tomatoes are normally ready to be picked up from the second half of August and during 1st week in September. If they haven't turned red by that time, it will be very difficult, especially if the weather turns out nasty. I also help the plants to produce fruit, by taking out the flower slowly without causing damage. In fact after few days the flower has been on the plant and starts to dry out, if you pull it out, you can see the tomato berry growing underneath.
  12. I have a little garden as well which I have filled up with pots of tomatoes and tuscan cabbage, peas and running beans and carrots. All growing, but the weather is not so good for the tomatoes. They are taking time to ripe this year, due to so much rain in the last few months. I also mix flowers and vegetables together so I have a lot of green and colour at the same time. Has anybody had trouble with tomatoes this year?
  13. A friend of mine who lives close to this junction has told me that there have been accidents on a regular basis since he moved there in 03. According to my friend, although the council had invested time, effort, and money at this junction, the only things they could have done to make it safer, it was to extend double yellow lines on both sides of Barry rd, up the hill towards the church, so clear visibility required by motorists could be achieved. Why can't they do this? It could be another solution and cheaper than the traffic lights?
  14. It is not a quesiton of poor driving, it is also a question to reduce speed in Barry Road. Some people drive along as if it were a motorway!
  15. How can the cost of 50K to install traffic lights be justified? It is astronomical. As someone else has said there are many vehicles parked closed to this junction on both sides of the road and visibility is difficult.. Obviously you need to take the necessary precautions, looking on both sides before moving, but precautions are never enough when a lunatic drives a bolid along Barry Road so fast as I have seen it last Saturday. Don't we pay road taxes to be kept safe as well? Where are speed cameras in Barry Road?
